Does anyone else have more than a couple planets in retrograde when they were born? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. BTW April 30th 1982, Fort St John bc 4:20pm.

Yeah, I have Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus retrograde.

I feel like I'm light-years behind everyone else. Before I knew what retrogrades meant, I always said (and have many examples to back it up) I felt like I was always late for the train boarded by everyone I cared about and so I travelled alone.

But not to sound so dismal... retrogrades, especially to personal planets, give me the sense that the person's internal life is highly developed. They usually can use this internal development outwardly after the retrograde turns direct in the progressed chart (or have an easier time expressing that planet).

For example, Mercury was retrograde when I was born on July 21, 1986. It went direct on August 4, 1986, 14 days after my birth. By secondary progression, 1 day = 1 year. So there should've been a "release" of Mercury energy when I was around 14 years old. There was... for one, I was introduced to the internet (communications), and two I actually had a mental breakdown that somehow resolved psychological issues I had from childhood relating to Mercury (early education, thought processes, etc). Of course, it probably won't be so dramatic all the time... when my Mars went direct by progression it wasn't intense like that at all. Mercury was I believe because it is in Leo (a terrible sign for an inwardly expressed planet in my opinion) natally conjunct Sun, opposed Moon, square Pluto (a t-square), trine Saturn, and "minor" hard aspects to Uranus and Chiron (the two opposing). Mars is just trine Venus and that's it. Very subtle when it went direct, but I feel way physically better than I did before (it went direct just last year). I have more energy, direction and drive. I am physically stronger than I've every been before, too. Mmm muscles.

So I'd say... check out how your retro planets are aspected to see how much you'd notice the retro and how, check when they go direct by secondary progression (if personal planets) or if they already have, and this article was really helpful as well: http://www.lynnkoiner.com/astrology-articles/retrogrades-in-the-natal-horoscope

Good luck and tell me if you learn any other tid-bits about retro planets!

If you have six retrograde planets of the Mercury through Saturn variety, you may need to pay particular attention to your health, as that much retrogradation is often a sign of a very weak constitution.

It's only possible to have five retro planets in that case. Merc, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

dd198, your Mars is on the AC in Libra, opposite Venus and square Neptune from the first house with Saturn in the 1st... do you have any problems acting without the input of others, especially authority, or feeling like you have to sacrifice your individuality to accommodate what other people want you to do? That's my first thought on that config...

I have read that Rx planets are associated with your Karma from past lives.. I have a past life report with Rx planets... I will copy and paste the planets I have in Rx..

Mercury is Retrograde:

A prior lifetime in which you were discouraged to think, learn, or express your ideas
is indicated. This may have carried over in this lifetime as a mild learning problem in
childhood, or inner (somewhat unconscious) doubts about your ability to learn or to
communicate. Thus, you have a habit of rechecking, reconsidering, reviewing, and
rethinking everything before you put it out. You may even have a desire to learn
about subjects that seem archaic, to learn about those things which were denied to
you in the past.

Jupiter is Retrograde:

Moral concerns (including lingering unresolved issues stemming from a prior lifetime
or lifetimes in which you exercised poor judgment in moral, ethical, or religious
matters) come into play here. Thus, it is especially important for you to maintain
high standards while pursuing your aspirations.

Neptune is Retrograde:

The above is complicated by the fact that you had a prior lifetime or lifetimes in
which you dissipated your energy, fell away from your disciplines, or were too
passive or irresolute to go after the spiritual opportunities open to you at that time.
This carries over as a vague yet persistent inner nagging that you should be further
on than you are, or a fear of spiritual failure. You may also have been involved in
mystical or magical practices that created distortions in your life. It is important for
you to take a balanced, patient, well-grounded attitude toward life...

I guess in some ways I do wait for input before acting but I always just considered it me bouncing my game plan off someone I respected.

Then my interpretation is probably wrong. :whistling:

Man, so from a karmic perspective, having a bunch of retro planets means your past life sucked and/or you were a horrible amoral person?

What do retrograde Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto mean? :surprised:
It's very common for the 'outers' to go backwards, it's the mercury through to mars which are the most important. It's very likely mercury *will* go direct, venus poss not and mars poss never.:rightful:

Thanks for this!

Retrograde Saturn: These people nearly always grave doubts about their worthiness as human beings. Can be very childlike in their behavior & fearful of taking chances. This is an ego-reducing kind of situation. There is usually a subconscious fear of rejection & of loss. Their limitations & responsibilities are self-imposed. This is probably the most difficult retrograde.
Retrograde Uranus: Here is a natural born rebel. Strong reformer instincts — for everybody else. These folks have a strong inner need & desire to persistently test their personal abilities against those of others. They must constantly prove themselves to themselves. In seeking greater freedom for themselves, they may limit the freedom of others.
Retrograde Neptune: These people are frequently confused inwardly as to whether they are “virtuous” or not. Persistently seek to help others, whether their help is wanted or not. They are more susceptible & more easily taken in by others.
Retrograde Pluto: Nearly half the world’s population has this retrograde. Its effect is hard to determine except to say that these people generally have a harder time integrating themselves into the mainstream of society. When Pluto is very strong, these people find themselves doing things without understanding why.
These describe me very well. I have ret. Saturn in Sagittarius, ret. Uranus in Sagittarius, ret. Neptune in Capricorn, and ret. Pluto in Scorpio.

Plus, my ret. Pluto is opposite the Sun and the Ascendant.

Thank you both for your thoughts and insights. I have Pluto, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune retrograde. All of them in the first 3 houses.

Mars and Saturn retrograde in first will have very marked influence - differentiating with others:

- Slow growth, in academics, more years to finish studies
- Injuries, health problems, etc.

Key thing is success comes after a lot of efforts. Best thing is that people with such chart have meaningful goals in life and pursue their goals.

This is so awesome. I just came across a chart with 8 retrograde planets and was kinda like, WOAH! This has to mean something, but I am not sure what. It was a hell of a chart all the way around.

Hello,

In response to your post, I've been trying to do some self work and I have 8 retrograde bodies in my chart. I'm trying to figure out how to work these aspects.

Do these retrogrades indicate a predisposition for being a personality a kin to mystics or deeply involved in esoteric studies. I really appreciate any insight that you may regarding this question. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.

we are all visual people and need to see charts please? I don't use a lot of 'fixed stars'

For spiritual esoteric I would look for planets in 8th and 12th houses and easy trine aspects.

I'm lucky then. My retrograde Venus turned direct three years after I was born by secondary progression. And I spent all my life blaming bad relationships on my retrograde Venus, no more excuses from now on, ha ha.

thank you for your response. I have another question regarding Asbolus, How does one interpret Asbolus through the house I've been trying to locate information, However most sights are rather vague or only talk about chiron and pholus and little about Asbolus transiting through the house or nothing regarding natal aspects.

It's interesting - I am the opposite to you - all of my birth planets are direct (including outers). And I always felt "different" from everyone else. As if I just exist in a different world. It's possible that to be "normal" you need to have a couple of retrograde planets and the extremes in either way are "different".

To tell the truth I have absolutely no idea what the lack of retrogrades means. I mean many of the things could also be explained by other

Of course I also have my chart ruler, Mercury conjunct Uranus and a Moon-Neptune-Saturn T-square which could be causing that "march to a different drum" feel....

I do have lots of good luck (for example I seem to be good at narrowly avoiding major natural disasters) but I also have Jupiter conjunct Mars trine Venus and square Sun so it could be that.

Maybe if we take you and me and find out where we are polar opposites we might have an answer :)

On an note, I tried to find someone famous who had no retrogrades (at all). I saw mention that lots of US presidents don't but when I look up the charts of famous ones like Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt (both) everyone has one or two retrogrades, though usually in Jupiter onwards, not in the inner planets. Famous thinkers like Einstein and Newton, yep a retrograde in the outer planets.

The only freaking one I can find doing a search of these forums is the last of the triple conjunctions proposed for the arrival of Jesus Christ (and it isnt' even the one he was born under, rather the one marking when the Magi found him)

Hey it is also the same birth date as me (day and month - obviously different year). Hey and the Moon is in Gemini like mine.

*Grumble* It's hard when you have a rare configuration. Can't find any good examples...
