What do the aspects in my birth chart say about my career?
could i perhaps become a writer one day or achieve prominence based on my writing? thanks so much guys.

You can be or do whatever you want to do -- astrology does/should not rule your life 
Your mercury (thinking, communciations) is *heavily* challenged in your chart with squares and quincunxs and is conjunct chiron suggesting you have been wounded by words probably in childhood....
Mercury is involved in a Grand square formation, but the saving grace is your Grand trine with mars, jupiter, uranus/neptune.
uranus/neptune are also challenged by oppositions to sun/venus. Also your saturn is a singleton, also retrograde (going backwards) suggesting father was ineffectual or absent from setting structure, archetypal influences in childhood.....

Sun in Cancer is good for recall, memoirs, historical writings, things of the past. Moon in the 3rd of language, print media is in trine to Mercury in the 11th so I think science could be a subject you write on. Sci fi etc.
Neptune of fantasy and photography is conjunct Uranus of the unusual, new age and UFOs and futuristic technologies etc is in trine to Jupiter in the 12th also. Jupiter rules publications and the 12th deals with being alone, secluded and isolated that is needed for writing.
I think photographic work would also be involved. DVDs, CD, Ipads etc. for the modern media. Whether you will be hugely successful, hard to say. There are obstacles with your home and family situation.

I agree that when you want something you can achieve it if it is a strong urge and that reflects in your chart anyway. As for doing or being anything in life, that is just not true....We all have talents, lessons and experiences of a certain nature to be played out.
