Attraction factors and the Signs

Ok so the main aspects that deal with attraction and love would be:

North + South Nodes
Sun (only when strongly aspected to others listed here)
Moon
Venus
Mars
Asc
Saturn (for longevity, or can be seen as a negative influnce)

Did I miss anything?

Those aside though, what I'd really like to talk about is specific signs in relation to those planets, how they affect charts and the relationships.

For instance, some people believe that we attract, or are attracted to elements that we lack in our own chart. Do you agree or disagree? However, it's a lot more common to believe that we attract people with similar qualities (like trines, I guess) or our opposition.

In my experience I attract fire signs quite a bit, especially Aries. I also receive a bit of notice from all the water signs, and Aquas tend to flock to me like moths to a flame. The fire and water people I can understand since that's the main composition of my chart - it's the aquas that I don't understand. This is why I was thinking that what you lack would gravitate towards you (since I have next to nothing for air influence on my chart), only I don't get that from Libras or Geminis. The same with Earth signs, though I do have a smidgen of that.

I'd like to know if anyone elses experiences are similar. Also, if you don't mind my asking, just looking at people what are you generally attracted to, sun sign wise. I know it's a bit hypocritical to only take into account sun signs when I was saying above it's only important when aspected to certain other things, concerning love an attraction, but without knowing exact birth dates and birth times, it's all I have to go by.

I find that when I am browsing online dating sites, I usually go for fire signs, Capricorns, Virgos, other Cancers, Scorpio, and Libras. Unless I'm looking at Asian guys in which case it tends to be water signs, Leos and Virgos. I find that the ones I tend to find the most visually appealing are the Caps, which makes sense, because it's my opposition. For Asian guys it's Cancer, followed closely by Scorpio, which also makes sense because of it being a conjuct or trine (and the fact alone that it's Scorpio).

What are some of the experiences that everyone else has had? Or observations? I'm puzzled to no end about the constant Aquas about, but yet no other air signs. I'm wondering if other people have similar experiences and I'd just like to see if some of my musings are correct.

random tidbit - anyone else find uniforms hot? like military dress uniforms? or suits? personally i hate wearing any kind, and i'm always the goof off or rebel but man can they make a guy look SLICK. has to be my mars in cap going off there.

So, your Leo Venus+Mercury is indeed like to attract them like moths to a flame.

Cancer Sun, Scorpio Moon, Pisces Rising here. I lack both fire and earth in my chart but those are not the types I attract or am attracted to. It's almost always Cancer or Scorpio types. Strangely (?) enough never Pisces, though. With Cancer there's always the familiarity factor, with Scorpio the intensity (and intrigue). My Moon likes that.

To start with it's best to look at the individual needs of each persons chart and how they relate and what they are looking for. Astro.com does have an option composite + natal midpoint method (2) which I find helpful. If you choose to post the synastry bi wheel from astro could you please select the 2nd synastry option as it will put the houses and degrees onto the wheel which is far better for us to evaluate matters....
If you post the synastry chart and realise it doesn’t show the degrees (which we need to look at) you can find the degrees and other information in a separate PDF on the synastry page of astro.com. Look for the link "View the additional tables (PDF)" and click on it to see the additional information. Reading a synastry chart is mainly about reading the aspects between the planets in the two charts. So once you find the PDF, scroll down to the bottom of the page and look in the synastry grid that is there. Unfortunately, you can only see/read these and not save/upload. That’s why I like to see both natal’s and composite. This grid (in my opinion) has too many minor aspects and the orbs are quite wide. I like to use + - max 3’

When looking at a woman’s chart the type of man she would look for is her sun sign and mars traits, plus 7th house planets and house cusp ruler and where that ruler was deposited.
When looking at a mans chart for the type of woman he would look for is his venus and moon sign and then 7th house planets and house cusp ruler and where that ruler was deposited.

Although synastry is a valuable tool with astrology it cannot 'make things happen' even if you have the best synastry in the world unfortunately..

I am simply just focusing on the 'red lines' which represent challenges ie: 90'square and 180' oppositions aspects, rather than the blue lines which suggests an easly flow of planetary energies ie: sextile 60' and trines 120' aspects.

Unfortunately, there is no set formula or signature for marriage or childbirth, although others may disagree, apparently horary and vedic seem confident in this area. There are indicators and potential as there would be with natal, solar return chart but guarantees -- (post 2 & 3 below)
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?p=207744#post207744

Your chart is a blueprint of your personality, facets and penchants and the whole chart is 'potential' for development. There is nothing guaranteed or fatalistic in charts, I do believe we still do have free will. I also believe we chose our parents and childhood circumstances best suited to learning those Lessons in the best way we can.

I think it's worth bearing in mind that the natal chart, like solar returns is all about 'potential' but as we all know we don't always fulfil that potential do we.

It's like someone saying you can predict death, but with modern medicine and sciences the way they are and the potential to 'die' three times in a life, doesn't mean to say you will does it

I think lots of people have unrealistic expectations about what astrology can and can't do. astrology is an 'art, science and craft' and not clairvoyance either. If there were a formula or signature, don't you think we would ALL be using it?

Predicting marriage and/or having children can be done, but it is not easy, time consuming and intricate. There are lots of things to take into consideration like, secondary progressions, what inter-aspects one chart makes to another, Solar arcs, Solar returns, Transits etc

What are some of the experiences that everyone else has had?
Okay - my immediate thoughts, from my own experience. I do attract the element that I lack, fire. Especially Aries, (which also is at the cusp of my 8th house...). I do fine the aries-fire attractive in a man. I don't know if it's just the lack of fire that make those people gravitate towards me. Another thing I think about is that my own mars is a little inhibited, and I'm a more venus-type of girl in my interaction with others. In that sense I think I attract firy people who can be "agressive" in their behavor and can be able to "win" me.
I am very feminin and a girly-girl and find men that are very manly/masculine attractive. It is like I project my masculine sides to the man, which I think we often do withouth beeing aware of it.

I do attract fire-people all over actually, not just in romantic relationships.
But another side to that coin is that I often feel much more comfortable whit water-people, because they are much more like me in their behavior.
For me to be satisfied with a close realtionship of any kind I need deep emotions, desire... attachment, sharing if the innermost thoughts and feelings, total acceptance and genuine empathy.

So in friends, and long term relationships I think one have to have some of the elements in common to make it work. But for pure attraction I think both opposites and people with characteristics/element you lack can be the case!

This is off topic, but I wanted to ask you how you distinguish between Uranus-ruled and Saturn-ruled Aquarians?

Interesting, by why only Saturn? It's a shame really too, because unfortunately, I never return the interest, save platonically. That and I find myself gravitating towards Libras (probably due to my south node in Libra) yet I rarely feel like I have decent opportunity with them.

Well it's not really a personal discussion based on me, although I can see where it comes off like that in my opening post. I'm really more curious in generalizations and other people's experience and comparing it with my own. Also not to be jerk, but it really looks like that post was just a copy and paste. Especially the part about wanting predictions and talking about childbirth - neither of which have anything to do with what I originally posted.

Really it kind of felt like you weren't listening/reading what I was saying and were more prone to just "try and teach me the right way".

I get that you are trying to help people learn about astrology, but not everyone learns the same way, so posting a bunch of links isn't really as helpful as you would think. There's a lot of information out there and it's very easy to get overwhelmed or confused by it. Also, I would never just expect a free reading or anything and I do actually look up different sites and books (some of those links you posted I've already seen) as I enjoy learning and find happiness when I do my own work.

Re: Attraction factors and the Signs

I hope I am understanding the question right - Do we attract what we don't have in our charts?

Hmm, for me personally, the answer is no.

Scorpios and I hit it off instantly (for friends or otherwise that 'pull' or repartiee if you will, is always there). Often when I meet someone new and we hit off so well right away I am not surprised to learn later that they are a Scorpio. And my rising sign is Scorpio and so is my Neptune but that is it for my Scorpio in my chart.

When I count the elements in my chart, Fire wins out. 4 fire signs, 3 each of air and earth, and 2 water (well, three if you count my rising sign).
Signs are Virgo (2x's), Sagittarius (2x's), Libra (3x's), Leo (1x), Taurus (1x), Aries (1x), Pisces (1x), and Scorpio (1x plus my Rising).

I don't have any planets in Cancer, Gemini, Aquarius or Capricorn. I tend to attract Geminis sometimes I think because I am a Virgo so I have a lot of Mercury - we often head butt though. I have friends who are Cancers and even romantically with Cancer too but I have found I don't hit it off with Aquarius or Capricorn and I don't meet many of them and when I do, the relationship is difficult and will definately end.

Weird now that I think of it I tend to get on pretty well with all of the signs that ARE in my chart. Never noticed this before. This explains why I have trouble with Aquarius.

Re: Attraction factors and the Signs

I've been married twice. My Venus in Cancer goes straight for those Mars in Cancers. (both husbands) My Aries moon wants FIRE. I wanna see the passion fire gives. Then my 7th house is Virgo with 3 planets there including the 7th house ruler, Mercury. So I need to see intelligence and stability too. Is that so much to ask? ahahahaha

Apparently it is! Too bad there is not a dating site that will match this stuff up. I didn't know that if your Moon is in a fire, the other persons Moon should be in a fire too? Hmm, interesting. That makes sense though. I hate people who are sort of montonous and have no expression, passion or feeling.

I would need a Mars in Leo, A Firey Moon and being a Virgo Sun myself I want dependable and intelligence too (in fact I look that in friends too - if you aren't dependable, you get on my nerves. )

I did one of those professional 'best' match compatiablity things once and it said Taurus, Scorpio or Leo. Hmm, so maybe a Mars in Leo or Moon. I would definatley be Ok with a Scorpio Sun.

Re: Attraction factors and the Signs

Actually what they say is that the sun sign of your moon sign is a great match...or the moon sign of your sun sign. It is supposed to give a special affinity. If you have Venus in Leo you will attract that Mars in Leo. There's your fire! lol. Yes Virgo's love and appreciate intellect.
Another good match is the moon sign of your venus sign. So perhaps a Leo Sun with a Virgo moon?

What's your rising so we can figure which sign is on your 7th house?

My 2nd marriage that lasted 25 years was to an Aries Sun which matched my Aries moon. He has Venus in Pisces which matched my Mars in Pisces and he has Mars in Cancer to my Venus in Cancer. Our sex life was great but not exclusive which is the reason for the divorce. He also has a Cancer moon which matched wonderfully with my Venus in Cancer. If he could've been faithful we could've lasted forever. Of course the infidelity COMPLETELY killed my love for him. If he BEGGED me to come back and promised to be faithful I would say no. I'll never trust him again. (He cheated more than once) He had no Virgo BUT Virgo was his midheaven and put my Aries moon in his 7th house. All the markers were there that we'd end up together.

Thanks Amy!

Well, my Rising sign is Scorpio but my 7th house is empty as far as planet go. See my attached chart.

My moon is in Sagittarius - so a Sagittarius sun? My Mars is also in Sagittarius. I know I defiantely like people whos emotions have some expression and passion - people who seem too calm and in control and don't let their emotions show kinda of confuse me and therefore I will lose interest. My moon is in my First house so that is probably why I am very expressive - esp. when I communicate.

Hmm, I definately would prefer someone who is more direct and romantic and emotional (which I am Venus in Leo). I was reading the description of Mars in Leo yesterday and I was liking it. I think that might be a good match up for me. Except it said that that is most sexual of the sign in Mars which I am not super sexual (well, who know maybe with the right person) - I have to have some passion, emotion and romance in there as well - and along with many Libra placements still some equality.

EDIT: You know I was also wondering if I should be looking at my progressed planets. My sun sign is now progressed into Scorpio, my moon to Gemini, my venus to libra and my mars to Capricorn (bleech don't want my mars to be in Capricorn)

Re: Attraction factors and the Signs

Well ya have a Virgo midheaven and that Virgo Sun so go for a Virgo moon and Mars in Leo. A Taurus Sun would square that Leo but you can't find perfection anyway....we know that doesn't exist.

How old are you? Have you ever done the profected charts where you graduate the risings and planets one day per year.

Here is a profection wheel. Simply look for your age and see what your focus for the year is. 7th house focus years are good and also when the other persons profection takes them to your 7th house.

Hi Amy,

Hmm, Moon in Virgo - well being a Virgo myself I am imagine what a Moon in Virgo would be like. I hope not too unemotional! LOL!

Actually I have never heard of these before. I just turned 41 a few weeks ago..so it looks like 6th house. Does this mean that in my 41st year that sixth house issues will be my focus? I have Saturn in Taurus in my 6th house on my natal chart.

Hmm, so if I am understanding this right...last year (40) focus should have been on 5th house issues?

Actually it seems more accurate that my 40th years was focused more on 6th house issues. - esp. health. (although this will overlap into ALL my years now! ) But esp. lots of health issues in my 40th year.

Re: Attraction factors and the Signs

Dont forget Juno, I love Juno, its trined my 7th house planet and when T Uranus was conjunct my Juno I found my love...

Im a very Pisces Pisces with Sun, Mars and Mercury along with Juno and a heap of asteriods. I was like no I never want to be with a Pisces, I dont want someone like myself. My boyfriend is a Pisces, lol. He is just so yummy and so much like me, but so different at the same time.

Before boyfriend, I had others, mainly earth or water signs. Two of the men that stand out where Virgo's, my opposite sign, the ones that caused the most damage, good and bad. Actually the one that caused the most damage his Sun was conjunct my North Node in Virgo.

I normally attract Scorpios, most of my good friends have been Scorpios, and for a while everytime I would meet someone knew they would be a Scorpio.

What am I attracted to? Men in uniform too, lol. Not sure where it comes from? Maybe my Venus in Capricorn conjunct the MC. Oh my boyfriend wants to join the police force... I am in luck!

My boyfriend has a Mars/Saturn/Pluto in Libra conjunct my 7th. His Sun is conjunct my Sun exactly... and I have the Sun/Saturn opposition so his Sun is opposite my Saturn too. Not only do I need to play it out, he wants to play it out too.

Both our Moons are in Taurus, so we are both Sun Pisces and Moon Taurus .
