These Lots were created before the Arabs had a hold of them. This means that the Lot of Nemesis is older than the Part of Advancement, or whatever you call it. The hermetic lots are the originals.

But I don't see part of eros. I would imagine part of lovers perhaps?

And are these formula's all the same or are there different theories and therefore different formula's? Is the formula consistent?

My part of astrology is Capricorn 23 37. My part of fortune is Scorpio 10 degrees. I think the upcoming Venus retrograde will touch upon my part of fortune. If that's 3 times the good fortune then I'm all for it!

Also, and the Lot of Nemesis is today as it was back then. Energy is never destroyed, it's only recycled. Which ultimately means that although today isn't as it was in the 2nd century BC, it holds the same significations as it did back then. What's today's punishment? What's today's retribution? It's not such a far stretch. You seem abnormally worried about the Lot of Nemesis. It's important to understand that everyone has a Lot of Nemesis just like everyone has a 12th house. You can't get away from that or try to make it more positive than it is. It just is exactly what it is.

The explanation presented by Mr Brennan should be studied by everyone interested in the Lots and what is behind them; the Brennan source has been mentioned here on AW in the past (which I also commented on), however it is a resource which needs to be constantly brought to AW members attention-thanks to Schedir Vega for posting it here!

As I am interested in all things Hermetic it was a joy to find this thread, and especially as I am beginning my foray into Astrology. What a beautiful marriage! And I'm a researcher and librarian so as a 'newbie' to astrology, I can't contribute to answering any questions but it is my humble honor to contribute a resource when I find it.

I used the calculator that Amy posted (thank you) but I am not sure how to 'fit' those in with the other things on my chart? Specifically, I don't understand how to figure out how they relate (whatever aspect) with the other planets or is that even important? Or do you just interpret them as they are situated within the natal chart within the houses?

Online calculators and programs are very good for me because I'm an artistic-wordy hermit in communications and research type and math is not my strong suit - I know it's imperative in astrology, I just have a hard time wrapping my head around what to do with what.

Here are what I calculated (from the site Amy so kindly provided) for the Hermetic Lots using the info from the Solar Fire program's report of Arabic Parts:

I found the thread here with the instructions for the chart on Astrodienst, etc. so if anyone would be so kind as to help me *see* how they relate I would really appreciate it. As you will see from my attached chart I am a lifelong student and have a quick mind... I really want to learn it, not just be given a fish to eat for today
