I would recommend Rene Guenon's view of Calculus. In general if you try to unite occultism with mathematics, you will be fine.

A good understanding of mathematics is essential to really understand astrology. I do not know where you are in the subject, but the usual order is geometry, algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, and calculus. Obtain a scientific calculator. Often with the calculator and the instruction book, if it amounts to anything, you can make a good start. Go to used book stores to find books on the subject. Mathematics books written before 1940 are more easy to understand. Books from the 1800s are very good if you can find them. The works of Euclid and Archimedes are usually available. The Thomas L. Heath translation is understandable.

If one is looking for a bridge between mathematics and astrology, the aspects are a great place to start. The aspects themselves are the integers that come out of dividing 360 by various numbers. Beneath that colourful number table is a link to a page which includes the full breakdown of all divisions of 360 between 0 and 359.9 at a 0.1 resolution. On that page is a link to another page which displays the breakdown from 0 to 30 (the most useful blocks) at a 0.01 resolution. The method used in the program that derived these numbers is described on the pages. These tables can tell you many things by careful observation. Most of the numbers follow the same general pattern. The numbers 5, 7, and 11, however, each disagree with this general pattern in their own way. 7 is the most obvious. 11 is almost as obvious. 5 is sneaky. In order to see the quirks related to the number 5, you need to look at the full breakdown from 0 to 359.9. It's worth a read.
