If I understand correctly the 2008-2010 opposition was the first one since the 60s. (Every 45 years as I understand it.) Now in the 60s the interesting thing was that we had the same opposition but the planets were in the opposite signs. As I see it now, the revolutionaries of yesteryear (the 60s) have become the authoritarians of today. (heavy handed, social engineering prone government. big brother?) Astrologically, this makes sense to me being that in the 60s cycle uranus (and pluto!) were in virgo, and here just recently we had saturn in virgo. Thus, completing the cycle. Likewise, the authoritarians of the past are now the revolutionaries of the present. I.E. Tea party type movements against taxes and increasing government. (saturn in pisces now uranus in pisces opposing saturn.)

Yes, it has merit.
There were a total of 5 Saturn/Uranus oppositions, and all took place in the US 3/9 Axis.
It's important to understand that all 5 oppositions occurred as the result of Mutual Application. Aspects that occur by Mutual Application are forceful and often result in unusual consequences, sometimes violent.
The first occurred in April 1965 when Uranus was Retrograde. Also it is important to note that Mars was conjunct Uranus at that time.
The second took place in August when Saturn went Retrograde
The third and fourth oppositions happened in February and November of 1966 with the same pattern of Retrogradation.
The last opposition occurred in January 1967 with Uranus Retrograde.
Let's compare with the current series. We have the exact same pattern of Retrogradation.
The first opposition occurs Virgo/Pisces on the 3/9 Axis on November 4 2008 (Election Day -- perfected in the 8:00 AM Hour).
The second and third also on the 3/9 Axis.
However, the fourth opposition took place on the 4/10 Axis in April [26] 2010 and is less than 1° from the Cusp of the MC/IC.
The fifth opposition happend on July 26, still on the 4/10 Axis but in the Signs of Aries/Libra.
Important too is that Mars will conjunct Saturn opposition Uranus, and that after Mars separates and after the Saturn/Uranus opposition separates, Jupiter will conjunct Uranus.
Whatever is happening now will not be the same as what happened in the 1960s, because of the changes in House and Sign, in Mars is conjunct Saturn, not Uranus.
