Synastry Between Roommates
I'm living away from home for the first time next year, and I admit I'm a bit nervous about the prospect of roommates. Does the synastry between roommates determine if they can coexist peacefully in a small space, or do non-astrological factors such as the ability to compromise determine the success of this arrangement? I imagine it is a mixture of both factors because sometimes, personalities simply are not compatable.
Please share your observations regarding the synastry aspects between roommates, and how these aspects may have played out in your own lives. Are there certain dealbreakers, such as the opposition between one roommate's Sun and another's Moon? Does one roommate's Mercury square or opposite another's Mars indicate frequent verbal conflicts, especially if these planets are located in the signs of Mercury's rulership, Gemini and Virgo? If one of these individuals has a tight conjunction of planets in her natal chart opposite a tight conjunction of planets in your natal chart, is this bad?
Are there certain favorable aspects, such as sextiles or trines between one roommate's Sun/Moon and another's Jupiter, or perhaps sextiles or trines between the roommates' Moons?
Finally, how may one determine if the "good" aspects or characteristics outweigh the bad?

I think the Moon would be the first thing to notice in a synastry between roommates.
Moons in square can translate into a lot of issues in terms of different lifestyles or housekeeping methods: one roommate may find the other too dirty or messy, the other may find the first too fastidious, and in general they are frustrated by the state of the house. I live with someone who has a Moon in square to mine, gosh I defo know what I'm takling about.
Moon's in opposition, I doubt they would ever manage to live together, but if they do, they will have to create "two houses into one", with a lot of separate space for each other.
Moons in conjuntion trine or sextile are the best, it means they will be glad with the roommate's style, they will "fit" in terms of hygiene (Sp? sorry, too lazy to load the dictionary) and housekeeping and there will be little conflict in this department.
Of course other aspects are important, but when it comes to sharing a House, which is such a 4th house and Moon matter, I look first and foremost to the Moons. If Venus are in good aspect to Jupiter, Moon and Sun, there'll also be a lot of friendship and affection, which is always a welcome plus.

I need to confirm the natal data of both of my potential roommates, but I believe one has a Virgo Moon, and she seems fastidious about these matters. I'm not a slob, but I find it difficult to remember to put items away after I use them; I tend to let clutter accumulate, and then I clean the entire room in one energetic session. Our natal Moons do not aspect, however.
The second potential roommate has an Aquarius Moon which is sextile mine. However, she has Mercury and Venus in Virgo, so she may be fastidious, as well.

Fortunately, neither of my potential roommates have the Moon opposite my own, and their respective Moons do not oppose each other's.

As I mentioned earlier, the second potential roommate's Moon is sextile my own. Coincidentally, I sensed that she was more laid-back about these matters when we first met.

Do you suppose I should look to planets which rule our respective fourth houses, as well, and see what aspects these planets form to each other?

I have a few nice Venus aspects with one of my potential roommates, which may explain why we gravitated towards each other at orientation and became friends quickly. Her Venus in Sagittarius is trine my Sun-Venus-Mercury conjunction in Aries.
The aspects between our natal Jupiters are a bit more challenging; her Jupiter in Cancer is square that same Sun-Venus-Mercury conjunction in Aries.
Again, thank you for the information!

That would be good. Depending on the aspects their planets make with your 4th ruler, you'd have an inkling of what they will bring to your sense of home. And, of course, if they have planets in your 4th, and you in their 4th, this should be considered as well. If they have Mars into your 4th, for instance, hmm, I don' know, I think it wouldn't be such a blast, but Jupiter in the 4th, then yes, the house may thrive.
I think Jupiter aspects, including squares, may actually be very fun. Perhaps with a Jupiter in Cancer she'll make a lot of great food and you'll feel you're eating too much, LOL.
Apart from this emphasis in 4th house, it is like most synastries, avoid the godawful Mars, Saturn, Pluto oppositions and squares, etc. And, of course, follow your intuition, sometimes we just need a few moments with a person to know if they are suitable for a certain part in our lives.
Good luck with the new home, Maverick!
