Hi there I find that the composite chart is more informative but it needs exact times of birth for both parties. Synastry can be confusing and contradictory but does provide some insights I agree.
I find that Placidus is nearly always user friendly shall we say. It is a matter of tracking your own transits to see what areas are really affected.
I tend to use equal method when the houses are really so skewed and unequal and that happens at the polar regions or extreme north and south.
