Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
So, the release of one of Tiger Woods texts tells us a lot more about he lives his chart.
In one text, he says 'with an Asian mother and a military father, you could never be full of yourself!"
Well said, I thought. And SO revealing.
Why is he doing all that cheatin?
Here are my thoughts. It seems to me that most anyone cheats to gain attention or approval, or to try to get a hit or a high...to feel wanted and loved, to feel that 'excitement'. He must be doing it for those reasons. And that text speaks volumes. He may be the best golfer in the whole world, but he still has some 'issues' apparently. I know a few men who cheat, and they all do it out of low self esteem. Hard to believe that this dude has low self esteem, but could it possible be true? Can you be loved by the whole world, and still have low self esteem? Obviously yes, since self esteem has absolutely nothing to do with outside validation, and everything to do with how one feels about oneself.
Conversley, he could be a narcissist. Actually, its not really conversely, because real narcissists have very low self esteem.
What are his astrological aspects that might depict this?
I'm not sure. He has Mars retrograde, believe it or not. Pluto square Sun. I would look for a Venus Saturn square in a female's chart, but what about male's chart?
Anyone have any thoughts?

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
Mmmmm.................... interesting question, barbh.
I think his Mars placement is significant. Mars close to MC denotes high sporting and/or athletic potential. But Mars does other things here:
- Opposition Neptune. I mentioned that on the narcissm thread. Repressed desires of a sexual nature which may build up to a critical mass and need to be acted out... Well, that sounds like him.
- Mars opposition Moon. trouble with mother, which may not be acted out with her, but can be projected on to other women.... his wife maybe???
- Mars rules his 8th house of deep, dark secrets and sexuality. Chiron is also in the 8th.
I think the 1st point re Mars opp Neptune is very revealling, especially given if you look at this guy you don't exactly think, Sex God. He's very - ordinary, but with an enormous talent for something which earns him way too much attention, and lots of $$$$. That does not earn him a feeling a real value as a person.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
Hi-Just wondering how reliable the source of his birthtime is. It might just be me, but this chart just doesn't feel quite right...Firstly this man is a millionaire (multi). The ruler of his second house is in detriment, and in sextile to the ruler of his tenth (Fame)-a sextil from a detrimented planet to Merc in cap applying an opposition doesnt suggest the amassing of wealth to me.Whilst H2 rules self worth it also rules actual worth. The merc/Sat opp does though, suggest a fall from grace.
Jupiter ruling h7 does seem to fit there though-many partners.
The sun is the apex of a T-square to Jupiter and Pluto. The sun rules his 12th of self-undoing so maybe that's what we're seeing now-a manifestation of that T-square in the break up with his wife who in this natal would be ruled by Jupiter (which is opposite Pluto in this natal chart, suggesting a marriage break-up and power struggles.
But the thing that bothers me is that this guy has special talents and has achieved high status which I'm having trouble finding is reflected in this natal. The trine of Mars to Pluto though may explain his physical stamina!
Cheers

Uranus on the Descendant, to barbh
barbh,

Astrologically I think it is indicated by transiting (moving planets in the sky) (friends, also rebellion) on his birth Descendant (others) (energy goes very easily with) birth (relationships). So he wants to rebel against others by having "friendly relationships" (i.e., "one night stands" type of situations). Impulsive and, as he is about to discover, a VERY bad decision.
Uranistically,

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
T Uranus was just about to turn around and then we get the T Mer opp N Mar and T Mar sex N Mars for the car accident to set his life on fire, lol.
Poor Tiger, my sister had such a bad crush on him about 10 years ago, Im glad she didnt marry him .
Is it that his Jupiter/Pluto opposition predisposed him of having a relationship breakup? And T Uranus just brought it on?
T Saturn was just opppsing his Dec too... did he not like all of the responsibility that came with his wife?

I agree that the Saturn/Uranus opposition on his Ascendant/Descendant axis, with the Moon opposite Mars, too probably started the whole disgruntled feeling with his marriage and home life. Mutable crosses... with the angles... yikes!
Sun/Pluto people are sneaky, but with the square, they almost always get caught.
His transits of Saturn in Libra squaring the Sun in Capricorn will definitely take his relationships down a notch, especially since he is not adhering to the strong patriarchal prototype of Capricorn.
Pluto on the way to conjunct his Sun--life for him is over as he knew it. And, When Saturn hits his Pluto, he will be forking over major dollars.
Neptune on the way to square his Venus, too... shoulda hired an astrologer; or at the very least, been more discreet.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
To me, these type of 'scandals' where everyone goes crazy acting as though this person were the first and only type to do something bad (OJ's the only man who ever killed his wife... Michael Jackson was convicted without a trial & therefore IS the only pedophile to walk the planet.... Now Tiger's the only famous athlete whoever cheated on his wife multiple times) don't make me interested in the person, I wonder why they're suddenly being exposed. I wonder why everyone cares.
I am not at all shocked that Tiger has women in every city (really, from rock stars to athletes, I consider most of them to be massive cheaters because of the never-ending stream of opportunity), it didn't seem like he really wanted to get married. What I am shocked is that people want to hear from these women, as though none of them knew he was married, and each of them were good, kind church-going saints tricked into thinking they were in a monogamous, loving relationship with a single man.
Everyone knew he was married, some of them were in his house, pouting that he wouldn't let them into the bedroom that he and his wife shared, all of these women kinda gross me out. Astrologically, I want to know why he's being put on display, suddenly, as the first and only athlete to cheat on his wife.

All of the Saturn I mentioned above--it's his karma... with Mars on the MC, his 1st & 8th house activities become public knowledge... Capricorn being the natural ruler of the tenth, we expect more from him.

Mama Minee-
All of the Saturn I mentioned above--it's his karma... with Mars on the MC, his 1st & 8th house activities become public knowledge... Capricorn being the natural ruler of the tenth, we expect more from him.
I dont think we can say that Mars is on the Mc-its retrograde and at 17 deg, Mc at almost 24 Gemini-7 degrees there. I think most people would say its in h9 especially as thats where its heading by being retrograde., and heading toward the sextile to jupiter (well in h7).
MC: ruled by Mercury. Mercury and Mars make no aspect.Mercury however is opposite Saturn which is very debilitated in this chart.
I'm not sure that a sun in cap square to a pluto in libra would make someone *sneaky*.
Mars opp Neptune might cause them to be dishonest though.
Sun/Pluto people are sneaky, but with the square, they almost always get caught.
That's a pretty broad generalisation.
His transits of Saturn in Libra squaring the Sun in Capricorn will definitely take his relationships down a notch, especially since he is not adhering to the strong patriarchal prototype of Capricorn.
That won't happen for a long time though. But his relationships are ruled in his chart by JUPITER. The Tr.sat/ Nat.sun square will probably affect his health adversely, as it involves his ascendant. his fifth and sixth houses will also be afflicted as Saturn rules those houses.
Pluto on the way to conjunct his Sun--life for him is over as he knew it.
Thats certainly not my understanding of Pluto to the sun.
And, When Saturn hits his Pluto, he will be forking over major dollars.
That's at the end of 2012, so a long wait there.
Neptune on the way to square his Venus, too... shoulda hired an astrologer; or at the very least, been more discreet.
I think that the natal mars opposition is more likely to be responsible there. His venus even though in sign of detriment is actually one of the better aspected planets in the chart-being trine to Saturn and closely sextile Mercury, ruler of his tenth.
Its a long time til that aspect reaches perfection (dec 2011).
But where are the aspects for FAME that this guy would have in his chart? Pars opp Jupiter doesnt help there. Node in h3? Ruler of fame house 10 in h5...ruled by debilitated saturn...Nothing suggesting the wealth he has acquired either.
Cheers
Lilly

I LOVE you for taking the time to dissect my reply and brilliantly disagree with me; but with my natal Mercury retrograde conjunct Mars, my attention span is too short to elaborate further, other than--mark my words...

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
Thanks MM,
Looking at his current transits its hard to see why this has happened. Currently he has tr Venus cj natal neptune...Tr venus sextile Nat Pluto, Neptune trine the Mc.His least favourable aspect is mars square the nodes.
At the start of December he had tr venus cj natal venus, and tr. mars sextile natal mars...so looking at this chart I don't think *what's happened* can be seen-not by transits.
The Ur/Sat opp was mentioned but Uranus is transiting his sixth house, not his seventh..The perfecting opp mid year may play out differently though=could be a divorce coming up there!
In march 2010 he will have a whole parade of planets going through h7:
Firstly Uranus will conjunct his desc then, followed by venus, then the sun, then Mercury....Hmmm.They will all square his Mc, one after another.
Mars will be conjunct his Saturn at that time, and Tr Pluto will be exactly cj his natal moon.
I think between March and july we'll be hearing much more.
(Let's hope this IS the right chart, but I have doubts myself).
Cheers Lillyjgc
BTW, this is a nocturnal chart and I think you will find that pars is actually in h12, not h1.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
Tiger Woods's chart actually makes sense to me.
His true Black Moon Lilith is at 21 Aries. His Mean BML is at 6 Aries. Either way, these bad girls of the zodiac are hovering around his Aries Jupiter in the 7th and Chiron in the 8th, with an opposition from Pluto tying them together. Read: marriage and sexuality. We all know what a philanderer mythological Jupiter was; and Chiron is the Big Ouch before it confers some sort of sadder-but-wiser wisdom.
Mythological BML in Jewish lore was Adam's first wife. She refused to sleep with him in "missionary position" or to be faithful to him, and consequently absorbed all kinds of dark, negative female "shadow" material ever since. In Jewish folklore, Eve was actually Adam's second wife. Astrologically BML can show where a negative female energy either harms one's life, or where the native exhibits it to harm others.
I saw a television interview with one woman who claimed to have an affair with Woods. She was pretty candid about them making love "in the garage, in the hallway''--very Lilith! Plus she had the long, wispy over-processed black hair that made her appear witch-like.
Mars in Gemini in the Gauquelin power zone is a prime placement for an athlete. The retrograde is unusual, but golf is very much of an inner game, that requires a lot of concentration to sink that put. With Virgo on the AC and Gemini on the MC he is not only a perfectionist, but Mercury rules the hands. He's got a nice Venus/Mercury sextile, and Venus rules both money and his 9th [Mars] house. His Mars sextiles Jupiter and trines Pluto, which should strengthen his Mars considerably.
For self-esteem, I would look to the sun. Tiger Woods's sun looks to be rather stressed, and is in Saturnine Capricorn to boot. With his First house Pluto squaring his sun, he is ongoingly challenged to reinvent himself. We might also look to the moon for his needs and feelings. Moon bi-quintile Pluto suggests a lot of ambition: talent, plus the drive to manifest it.
In the Placidus system, Venus rules Woods's money house, and Venus trine Saturn seems to suggest someone who can make money and use it frugally. With his NN in the 2nd, his growth may actually lie in making money. I believe he also donates a lot of money to charity. With Venus novile sun, he wouldn't seem to have issues with women per se, although Mom may be a little stressful. With 7th house ruler Neptune in Sagittarius and broadly conjunct his moon, a foreign mother and wife seem likely.
To me one of the jokes about the Woods scandal is that country clubs are kind of notorious for extra-marital affairs between members. Top athletes, because they travel so much, are frequently in temptation's way. Ironically Woods's famous self-control makes his "fall from grace" a lot harder and further than it might be for a playboy type of athlete who was known to have an eye for the ladies.
And with transiting Uranus around Wood's DC, a "sudden upset" in his marriage seems likely.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
His Mars in Gemini is trine Pluto in Libra and he just likes variety in sex especially if it is taboo. That air signs are involved, he can rationalise it all away. He may tell himself safety in numbers.....
That he is famous and wealthy and nice looking gives him the opportunities that many men would wish for. He is also away from home a lot. Venus is in Scorpio in trine to Saturn so that is the corporate monies he has received via endorsements. This may largely disappear.
Sun Square Jupiter from the 4th means he has taken full advantage of his opportunities for sex as it is in Aries and when away from home travelling etc.
That Mars opposes Neptune means secrecy and that adds to the buzz. The taboo with Pluto involved also adds to it all. He has Neptune ruling his 7th and wide conjunction to Moon. That again is deception and with the home front. I see that with his Sun square Pluto that he may have been controlled and pressed upon by his father to succeed. This may have felt natural to him but sub consciously he may be bucking the rules as he is a Capricorn and always expected to conform.
He is only a golfer, albeit a very good one, at the end of the day. What does he do for others I wonder??? Maybe he will think again his situation.

I had a quick look at Elin's birth info. She was born on 1 January 1980 in Stockholm, Sweden. Her birth time is unknown. But just a quick thought.... she would be turning 30 in January, so she has probably just gone through her Saturn Return too.

it seems. Sun Square Jupiter from the 4th means he has abused his opportunities for sex as it is in Aries and when away from home.

However he may have two love children as there are indications of this. More likely boys.
His Lilith is in Aries and I wonder if the girl who is speaking out to the general public a lot is representative of this. i.e. Aries personality.
|
Claire, check out the Tiger Woods Foundation via www.tigerwoodsfoundation.org . He probably does a lot more for people--notably disadvantaged youth--than either of us do.
Inside out orange: another low blow? If I had two little kids at home who loved their daddy, I would think long and hard about what is best for them. I got separated and divorced from my children's father a while ago, and it was especially hard on my daughter, who was very young at the time. My divorce was kind of a train wreck in their lives. If Elin Woods thinks through what is best for her children, it might not be leaving Tiger if he honestly wants to make a success of their marriage.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
I don't have much to add to this thread, for I haven't studied Tiger Woods' chart in depth. However, since several forum members mentioned his natal Mars, I'd like to add that's it's out-of-bounds, which supposedly gives the planet extra power--albeit with a tendency to act erratically. Make of this what you will.
More information can be found here: Those Wild Out-of-Bounds Planets.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
The first aspect that called my attention was the Jupiter pluto opposition. In the original chart (CA, USA) his Jupiter is 6th degree from the 8th H cusp. After relocating the chart in Orlando, Fl (his main residence), I noticed Jupiter in the sex (and money 8th H) wich is energized by the obsessed pluto- a natural sex related planet.
Then the connection between mars (sex) to Jupiter and Pluto accentuates even more this sex thing. Again, it will not surprise me to see the money for sex element at some point. With the opposition between mars and neptune, I see a questionable sex practice. This bring to mind that there is something misterious, of secretive nature going on.
With that opposition in the 4th - 10th axis, one can see how there is a career-public image situation and a home problem event.
The low self steem issue: saturn retrograde. With mars retrograde I wonder if it put some more influence in this sex inhibition mentioned before??
His progressions and transits activated all.

I noticed his Saturn opposite Mercury and thought: low self-esteem. That's what I equate with this aspect.

I'd have thought Tiger Woods has 'low self-esteem" in the way that all Capricorns have a desire to build themselves to be the best of the lot. A certain level of inner doubt along the way that they're not good enough so they just keep working harder and harder to prove they're not.
Beyond that though, I sort of think there has to be an Ascendent(?) thing going on in this whole saga. It's completely changed the way I (and many others) thought of Tiger. I naively thought he was so dedicated to golf and practice and ensuring he's the best that he wouldn't have had time to be out flirting and chatting up women. That he would be in bed at 10pm every night so as to be fully rested for the next day's golf. That he would be spend 10+ hours every day practicing golf, eating healthily, going to the gym, hardly touching alcohol.

Me, either.

However, since several forum members mentioned his natal Mars, I'd like to add that's it's out-of-bounds, which supposedly gives the planet extra power--albeit with a tendency to act erratically. Make of this what you will.

This, coupled with his Sun square Pluto, says a lot about his lack of control, particularly in Martian & Plutonian areas.

Re: Tiger Woods - low self esteem for the greatest golfer in the world?
Not wishing to labour the point, but if you go googling you'll see that Tiger woods' birth cert has never been made public and there is also controversy surrounding his place of birth.
Merc opp Saturn does not always mean *low self-esteem*. I have a deaf friend with this aspect and in her chart it clearly relates to her hearing loss. Self esteem is determined in part by the Lord of the asc, and by Lord of H2..and their interactions.
Mercury is associated with third house and sixth house matters in general but no planetary aspect plays out exactly the same way *across the Board*.
*If* (and I stress if now, because there's certainly no confirmation) it is the right chart, Mars in Gemini is not usually regarded as a particularly sexual sign placement-it makes for a more cerebral approach to things.(usually).
Tiger's second house (self worth) is actually ruled by Venus in this chart. Venus is trine Saturn and sextile Mercury, which are opposed indicating second house issues which may or may not relate to his self-esteem. (it could also be money issues).
On Nov 27 2009 Woods had a car crash. The most unfavourable aspect he had that day was the moon opp Pluto which happens every month. Mars was sextile his Mars.
Venus was sextile his ascendant. That's based on this chart.(transits to Natal).
The Sat pluto square plays out across his first and fourth houses. Saturn is currently sextile his natal Saturn.
I also looked at the car crash in relation to his prog. chart. Again nothing indicating the type of event that took place.
I don't usually engage in celebrity astrology but i thought this was an interesting one. But if the data is wrong we end up looking a bit silly.
Cheers
Lilly
