Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
Hello Everyone.
I thought it would be interesting to discuss what makes someone interested in nutrition from their chart. I will start by talking about my own.
First I have a sun in capricorn and a moon in taurus so my core energies being earthy is what draws me to this. My moon in taurus is disposited by my venus in aquarius and because nutrition is sort of a naturopathc thing which most people are not interested in (its not a mainstream thing), plus my venus and mars are in my first house so the effect of what I eat on my body and personality is also interesting.
Lastly my pluto which wants to delve benieth the surface is also interested in the subtle day to day thing we do that has an impact on us, such as nutrition and our beliefs (a family member took a naturopathic nutrition course and she also got a textbook called biology of belief) which is very interesting.
So here is my chart. Please tell me what you think.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
I'm not a natal interp. astrologer per se...but I do know that Pluto in Virgo [1957-72] and most especially during the Uranus/ Pluto conjunction in Virgo [1964-68], was/is expected to produce individuals that would bring an overall social concern for health and purity of nutrition [awareness and concern of adulterated foods, pesticides etc]...
..Thus some of those born in this time slot in general were/are expected to find occupations in, or generally take roles or an interest, in these fields. Many born during this time are expected to bring reforms and new ideas to these fields... and among others such as science, tech, labor relations, ecology and health care.
...not really a direct answer to your request...but I thought it would be of interest by association.
ps...and I must comment on the Sabian Symbols for your chart axis...most dynamic!

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
well, I lack earth in my chart, I have Venus in Virgo as only earth planet, yet I am obsessed with food(positively and negatively) like to cook, really like to spend time in the kitchen, come up with ideas, not so much only healthy stuff to be honest, but I strongly believe this is my way of making up the lack of earth.
I had periods in my life when I ate 100%raw food for months. From this perspective I would not call it healthy, because it was obsession. These days I prefer preparing a gourmet meal for several people, it makes me feel secure and content like nothing else. Cancer ASC

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
According to The Rulership Book by Rex E. Bills, nutrition is ruled by the Moon, Cancer and the Sixth house. In your chart Cancer is on the cusp of your 6H and the Moon is in its exaltation. This is a good indication of interest in this subject.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
The 6th house of diet, hygiene and particularly alternative therapies especially of the earth, is ruled by your Moon in Taurus and with a good connection to the 12th house you could be interested in the healing properties. I have a stellium in the 6th and I am a natural therapist using flower essences. I have accreditation in nutrition, aromatherapy as well.
I also have a Taurus Moon in the 3rd which is square my Pluto in the 6th and I was not able to help my sister with her grave disease as she would not take the advice on board and she has subsequently passed on and it has caused me great pain that I was not able to help her.

I too have only Moon in Taurus as the earth element. However I have a stellium in Virgo's 6th house. So do you have any planets in the Earth houses??? 2nd, 6th or 10th????

Neptune does not particularly refer to natural healing methods but can lead to an interest in helping those who are disadvantaged in some ways particularly with addictions. It is more rehabilitation and spiritual recovery.
But in Virgo or connected to the 6th house then yes, the natural therapies can come into play.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
As you have Pluto in Scorpio trine Mars in Pisces from the 8th your motivation would be deep healing and transformation into health. As you say Moon in Taurus is oriented towards products from the earth such as flowers, trees and herbs along with your Capricorn influence which can involve farming as well agriculture. Growing organic vegetables can also be an interest, for instance.
Although your 6th house of nutrition and diet as such is empty it is ruled by your Sun. Venus in Aquarius can lead to urge to help humanity in general and with scientific research matters.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
Hi JayM,
There are several signpost that can signify an interest in nutrition. Some of the things you - and the members below - already mentioned.
One is the signs of Virgo and Cancer. Since they rule areas of the body most responsible for nutritional health - the gastrointestinal system and the stomach - one would expect them to be prominent and/or associated with the houses of occupation.
Mercury (and its association with Virgo) is important because education plays an integral role to gathering data and enlightening others about ways they can improve their nutritional health.
Pluto and Scorpio would be important factors as well, for they also relate to the effects of nutrition and digestion of foods, through the colon.
Saturn can play a role. In addition to law, it also relates to the health and medical professions, or healing.
The Sun seeks to enhance and give life and vitality to the body, so it also can play role.
And lastly, because your profession deals with taking care of and keeping the body intact (as well as being a consultant to others in helping them to do the same), the 1st and 7th houses can also play a role (this is actually reflected in your horoscope).
Of course, it is the entire combination of planets, their locations, signs on house cusps and aspects that tell the whole story. When all is taken into consideration, the occupations for which an individual is best suited - or most likely to be inclined - can be ascertained.

Yes I find most people born during that time have done so, even if only in their personal household.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
Jay, you have no indication on your chart of where Ceres is, and there can be an interest in nutrition if Ceres forms positive aspects with with certain other planets and/or angles. On its own, Ceres may not lean towards an abiding interest in nutrition, but it is something which can add weight to it where you have other indicators, such as Moon in Virgo in the 6th, or a stellium in Virgo.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
Hi JayM,
I am a nutritional therapist. I have the Virgo stellium of Pluto conj Mars conj Jupiter conj Uranus (which is in 1st degree of Libra) all opposite Moon and Chiron in 7th/8th - the therapist.
Virgo is on my 1st House also and Ceres is Conj my IC.
Mercury (as ruler of 1st and Virgo and Gemini on my 10th Hse of occupation) is in the 2nd Libra (therapist again) opposite Saturn in the 8th.
I'm a Scorpio Sun 3rd, psychic Moon Pisces 7th.
I have a close Saturn/Neptune (traditional signature for Doctor) midpoint to my Sun but I do not like orthodox medicine so studied Nutrition instead.
I have unearthed (Ceres conj IC Scorpio) nutritional deficiencies (Pyroluria / Hystadelia) in my family that run back for generations (IC ancestors) causing many members to have suffered from depression, alienation from society & relatives, misunderstanding, mis-diagnosis (Neptune is also conj IC) and even suicide. Hopefully that will all stop with the now correct nutritional intervention. Peace.

Most websites interpret Ceres as the nurturer, but there are also indications of what it's about in the mythology of Ceres:
http://www.astrologycom.com/aster.html
As I read it, one of the things described by Ceres is the seasonal changes, and the cycle of birth, growth, death, then rebirth, the feminine values of nurturing, including the role of food and the growing of food.
JayM, your Ceres in Taurus is conj your IC, perhaps indicating a solid nurturing foundation, and an ability to channel an interest in nurturing and nutrition into a career. (Note that Gradvlax also has ceres conj IC) An earth Ceres, particularly in Taurus, supports an interest in food and nutrution:
http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Ceres21.1.html
I don't universally use Ceres, but I look for it whenever there are difficulties within a person's early nurturing experience. People who have eating disorders generally have a difficult Ceres placement, such as a conjunction to natal Moon, or a harsh relationship to Pluto.

Uh-oh, does a 7 degree orb opposition to pluto count here? I think it might!
Also my Ceres I dont think conjunts my IC, but it might contact it through the conjuntions to the moon, is that what you mean?
Yes I think I can be a very good therapist, also with my pluto and jupitor position. Thank you R4VEN and gradvax!

The opposition to Pluto may be there. That energy can be used in nurturing others through therapy. I saw a young woman on the weekend. She is battling quite severe bulimia, and has a close Ceres-Pluto opposition. She admitted to me that there have been times when her eating disorder has served as a slow suicide.... but that is an extreme expression of this and not in any way universal.
My mistake about the IC...... I was actually looking at the cusp to 3rd - and Ceres is conj this cusp.

This placement indicates a career that can involve healing through food and on a deep level. You may run a health food shop or be involved with a restaurant that provides organic food or concentrates on the health angle. You can be a dietitian, nutritionist, herbalist or hygienist.

To use Ceres as having the influence of a planet is not advisable, it is at best an asteroid or fixed star or whatever and may have no relevance in reality.
Its myth does belong perhaps to Virgo and in connection to harvest and food perhaps. The word cereal does come from this.

Re: Astrological indications for interest in nutrition.
I too have Moon in Taurus but you need strong 6th house for nutrition and strong Moon and Mercury as they are planets of digestion, assimilation of food in our diet. I have a stellium there and I practise flower remedies and am certificated. Using plants and flowers that of the earth is the Taurean influence plus my Saturn in the 6th. I could go on.....
However you dont have any really strong placements that would sway you in any one great direction. HOwever I feel that chiropracty and massage would be good fields for you. Healing and rehabilitation are definitely for you. Using stones and gems for healing for instance. Concentrating on the chakra system and I have seen good results with this.
Uranus conjunct Mercury in the 10th suggest New Age study for all this and use of up to date machinery and science. That it is in Sagittarius can mean higher learning comes into it and at college level. Also using the faith and philosophical outlook that you develop adds greatly with your work. I feel that arthritis and other bone problems could be an area of attention for you.
Good luck
