Vanilla, nothing is stupid! You come to learn and are not expected to know it all.

I look both ways with a SR. Natal planets in SR houses and especially SR angles in natal houses, but also SR planets making aspects to Natal planets. After all, they are transits, so the slow ones in particular are important.
Houses 2, 6 or 10 heavily activated in the Solar Return could mean that this year there is a chance that things in these areas might be important.
First of all look where the SR Ascendant falls in your natal chart. Then see where the SR Sun falls in the SR chart. (not in the natal because it will always fall in the same house of course as it comes back to its natal place.).
Example:Planets in a natal chart are lets say, in houses 1, 5 and 8 and now, in this year one or more of these planets turn up in your 2nd, 6th or 10th house. This means that the focus of the birthchart is for this year in another house, so if you should have Mars in 1 (focus on yourself and how to get yourself forward, promoted whatever, and in the SR chart it falls in your 10th, then you can conclude that with your natal inclination of "me first" and taking the initiative, you could now express that energy in your career. Should that Mars in SR 10 be squared by Saturn, then it will be a bit more difficult to initiate things, if not, you could really get going this year.
So look at the birth planet, try to get an idea about how it operates in house X of your natal chart. These same energies could now be expressed in another life compartment.
OK, you see that the SR Ascendant falls conjunct your Natal MC. Your natal Cancer Ascendant will this year be coloured by a Scorpion trait, maybe showing less shyness, more perseverence, also because it falls conjunct your natal Saturn. This placement will make you more introspective and serious, also more determined.
This shows a great emphasis on
career matters or matters to do with your social surroundings/your status in life if you dont work.
Natal Sun falls in the SR 8th house. So the 6th house (health/daily work) natal expression your Sun, like helping others, dealing with health issues, now falls in the SR 8th house of transformation.** It is therefore possible that most of the activity (selfexpression = Sun) will be focussed on transformation, finding meaning behind things, life and death issues .There is the potential for psychological growth.
The SR cusp with Leo on it, will be the arena where you can express this transformation. And that is the SR's 10th house, the MC ! So we see here some sort of double whammy. SR Asc. on your natal MC and SR 10th house falls in Leo, over which the Sun rules. Leo also falls in your natal 7th. Combined: dealing with others in your career or, if you dont have a career it could mean a relationship which will have an impact on your status in life, like marriage.
The house in which the SR Ascendant falls will be particularly important and also the ruler of this house AND the natal ruler. So your career/status in life gets great focus and Pluto being in natal 9, maybe something to do with foreigners, other countries. You must also consider Mars here, the
traditional ruler of Scorpio, because he moves faster and gives more details. Mars falls in your SR 7th house, natal 6. Relationships and work surroundings, work collegues, service to others.
This years Scorpio Asc. is showing powerful feelings, especially for (or against) those with whom you deal because it opposes the 7th house of course. It often is a sign for marriage (and in this SR chart you see Mars and Venus in the 7th, natal 4th of family) if you are in that age group and are not married yet of course. But to be sure look at progressed Venus and Moon as well and the progressed natal ruler of your 7th house.
The positions of Mars and Pluto show where you should take action. I would say the 7th house gets the focus and maybe a foreigner/foreign country or things you might do with others in a foreign country or requiring lots of long distance traveling.
As seen in my article, a Fixed Ascendant and a Cardinal MC in the Solar Return can show taking action on longstanding ideas and plans (also 9th house which Pluto indicates) This is a good year to move ahead with concepts or intentions that you have thought about for many years.
You have Uranus, ruler of your intercepted 1st house, in your 11th, a perfect placement for humanitarian work so maybe things move in that direction.
The Solar Return Mars, natally in your 6th, falls now in your natal 4th so maybe setting up a business of your own, with the help of others, is also a possibility.
Solar Return Moon and SAturn conjunction are intercepted in the SR chart. This conjunction could probably show up later in the year when these planets have moved out of the intercepted house. Also Uranus is intercepted.
With SR Moon falling in your natal 8th house, as well as Saturn and natal Sun falling in the SR 8th house, there is even more chance of personal transformation here. It wont be an easy year, probably hard work with that SAturn on the Asc.
**8th house issues: legal settlements in partnership (work) or marital affairs , tax and insurances, inheritance, birth, death, transformation, support from others, in particular partners (business of marital).
Personally I am not fond of Solar Returns and prefer looking at transits of heavy planets, progressions and Solar Arc directions. Interpreting a solar return is a lot of work, you have to look at 101 little things, so try to keep it simpe: Ascendant, ruler, Sun + ruler and Moon + ruler, natal as well as Solar Return placements.
Greatest emphasis you can find like that Saturn on the SR Asc.
The See-Saw pattern, indicating maybe a difficulty to make up your mind, choosing between two things.
Very often a Solar Return hardly shows any significant happenings in the year ahead or it shows what we are strongly thinking of.
