Successful Business People

If an individual is going to be successful in business and earn a lot of money (a bonus). Do you think it can be clearly seen in the astrological chart? I thought I would do a tiny study on this, and explore some charts. I have already analysed one chart, but it's spoken in blog language (excuse the talking in cyberspace like I know it all ). It fits here as a good example, but I want more charts so I can see the different ways it plays out astrologically, and the type of business that can 'perhaps' be seen, as well as the successful astrology indicators in the charts. I will search through my books, as there just lying on the shelf anyway, I might as well dust them off and put them to good use.

First Chart is Mr Billionaire (If you see any other relevant indicators let me know so I can build up an astrological signature, what do you think of the nodes in this chart?).

Quote:
Warren Buffett (born August 30, 1930) is an American investor, businessman and philanthropist. He is one of the world’s most successful investors, and the largest shareholder and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. He was ranked by Forbes as the second richest American with an estimated net worth of $50 billion as of September 17, 2008.

Often called the “Oracle of Omaha“, Buffett is noted for his adherence to the value investing philosophy and for his personal frugality despite his immense wealth. His 2006 annual salary was about $100,000, which is small compared to senior executive remuneration in other comparable companies. When he spent $9.7 million of Berkshire’s funds on a business jet in 1989, he jokingly named it “The Indefensible” because of his past criticisms of such purchases by other CEOs. He lives in the same house in the central Dundee neighborhood of Omaha that he bought in 1958 for $31,500, today valued at around $700,000.

Buffett is also a notable philanthropist. In 2006, he announced a plan to give away his fortune to charity, with 83% of it going to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2007, he was listed among times 100 most Influential People in The World. He also serves as a member of the board of trustees at Grinnell College.
Birth Chart (no birth time)

Named richest man 2008! A look at the investor

You got your eye on Jupiter/Pluto in Cancer! Pluto is the focal point of a Cardinal t.square involving Venus in Libra and Uranus in Aries. I have often read Cancer is a sign that has good business acumen, and I have always wondered why. I think I underestimate the crab. In astrology Cancer can be intuitive, and is sensitive to the changes in the atmosphere, and traditionally this zodiac sign is known as the great investor! Usually I have in my head the mother image, nurturer, and protector when it comes to Cancer. But… as I was thinking on these keywords I thought well here is definitely a man who protects his investments.

All the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) are about taking initiative. Aries is about energy, enterprise, and new beginnings, Cancer is protective, withholding until it feels secure to make his move at the right time. Libra is charming and very good at negotiating and making deals, and finally we have Capricorn the sign of the business manger, reliable, disciplined and determined. The Sun in billionaires chart is in the sign of Virgo and is trine Saturn in it's own sign of Capricorn (earth trine). The Saturnian energy helps him in his perseverance, excellent sense of timing, and analytical abilities (Virgo) looking at this man from an astrological perspective "good business-skills" come naturally to him (trine). We can also see that there are more hard aspects (red lines) than easy ones (green lines) in the natal chart. Which most astrologer’s agree offer more drive to the individual. The square aspect produces tension and struggle, but it also produces action which can lead to success. Usually for business a Cardinal T-square or fixed T-square do seem to work well for the native. The Jupiter-Pluto conjunction can handle LARGE (Jupiter) amounts of other people's money (Pluto) and in the sign of Cancer something to invest in, think in terms of building a nest, but a nice big golden nest for Warren Buffet!

I go overboard with pictures on this board, I will put more examples up on the thread when I can.

[thread is about well-known people so moved to Celebrity Astrology - Moderator]

Re: Successful Business People

Ernest Gallo

Quote:
Ernest Gallo was the American co-founder of the E & J Gallo Winery, which recently changed its name to Gallo Family Vineyards. He was ranked 297th on the 2006 Forbes 400 list of billionaires.
Quote:

After the death of his parents, Ernest and brother Julio (1910–1993), along with their wives Amelia (1910–1993) and Aileen (1913–1999), raised their thirteen-year-old little brother Joseph (1919–2007). In 1986, the brothers sued Joseph for using the Gallo name on his cheese labels. The brothers won and their relationship with Joseph was forever strained.
Ernest Gallo was married for sixty-two years to Amelia Franzia Gallo. When she died on December 22, 1993, Ernest released the following statement: "Amelia was a great wife, mother and grandmother, and a truly great lady. While her loss is very, very difficult for me, I feel fortunate and thankful I have had her for sixty-two memorable years." The couple had two sons: David, who died in 1997, and Joseph.
Here is his natal chart: Rating AA

I thought it was interesting he was in a lifelong marriage, his makes one applying aspect in to in . Another cardinal t.square, at the apex in . Apparently he had quite the bad temper...

Quote:
Facing mounds of debt, Ernest became the executor of the Gallo estate at age 24. With a tiny $5900 investment, the familial knowledge of wine-making, and a salesman’s intuition, he partnered with his brother Julio to begin making and selling wine. E. & J. Gallo Winery was born just after the repeal of Prohibition. In the beginning, the brothers concentrated on selling cheap wine with a high amount of alcohol. Ernest was in charge of sales and distribution, and his brother Julio controlled the winemaking operation. Younger brother Joe, age 13 at the time, was made a ward of his two older brothers. Excluded from the partnership, he worked as a hired hand. Ernest and Julio worked hard 18-hour days to get their business off the ground and were noted for their business acumen. Along with respect, Ernest often inspired fear. He developed a reputation for his fierce temper, low tolerance for half-measures, aggressive, often ruthless, business tactics and secretiveness. Family passions again erupted in 1967 when Ernest, by then a strong and powerful businessman, asked his brother Joe to leave the vineyard. Joe became a successful businessman in his own right. But in 1983, when Joe began marketing cheese under the Gallo name, Ernest sued his younger brother in court for trademark infringement. Joseph counter-sued for a piece of the family wine business, but Ernest won the lengthy six-year series of lawsuits. Joe was forced to change his business name to Joseph Farms.
What are your thoughts on this chart

Re: Successful Business People

About family pashion - I can understand that with that Angular Mars in 4th.

Also, with Sun in 6th - hard worker for sure, and also serious - we see Saturn. Venus, the benefic, also in 6th.

But what I can not understand is how he was so succesful in his carrer with THAT 10TH! Angular Neptune? And ruled by Moon that makes no aspects...

Mars rules his 2nd and Venus his 8th - there is a nice sextile (opportunity) and then, Mars trines Jupiter. Maybe the secret is in this nice aspect of the ruler of his 2nd to those 2 benefics. Because, Sun makes no aspects at all...

Maybe we should look at our Natal charts from different corner...

Career matters always interest me. Nice thread. I`ll follow it.

With regards

The father was violent too, passion and violence perhaps from angular Mars in 4th.

Your right, a lot of activity in the 6th house, he put in a lot of hours to make the business work. I wouldn't have the stamina for it.

It's interesting you brought that up, because I thought it had to do with him being involved in the business of alcohol (Neptune) maybe he had a few drinks too lol. I was more puzzled by the Mercury in fall in Pisces opposite Jupiter, a careless aspect. Mercury can lose it's sharpness in hard aspect to Jupiter, and with Mercury in Pisces he could be absent minded, but in business he did well. Poor judgement is one aspect of this Mercury-Jupiter opposition, and he had a lot of legal troubles with his brother perhaps this opposition represents that whole mess. The rest of his chart is forceful, Saturn in Aries is in fall, but he was determined to succeed, to be first and top in his business.

I will add charts gradually, but it helps to see them altogether. I like looking at different charts as there is always something surprising in them, and it makes you want to investigate it.

Yes they keep on going, they don't give up easily, self-belief is important. It is just there in their nature, it's like you have or you don't. The astrology chart does provide clues on this, and where to find this ambitious nature.

For chart one:
It does not surprise me to see Mars in 1st. Jupiter on 2nd house cusp has
to be helpful in making money.

Other people get there by inheritance and continuing a business, OR they can make it through a partnership.

For chart two:
This person has Libra rising which is fitting for partnership and Mars in Capricorn will have a strong business drive and instincts.
I think of Jupiter as a jovial spirit, so quite fitting for wine, and being placed there in the eleventh, Jupiter is spreading its influence through large groups, parties and friendship circles, where you usually find wine.
I see the cheese as Venus, placed in the opposite sign to Jupiter - cheese and wine are complementing each other.
(I thought the chart AA rating quite amusing although it is not meant to be!)
Since you mentioned the Mars in Capricorn, I just noticed he has the "astrological rule of three." Mars in Capricorn, Saturn in Aries, Mars square Saturn. This is a powerful aspect in his personality. The strong business drive you mentioned is certainly there.

Your right, a social networking influence with Jupiter in 11th, parties, friends in high places and generosity through acquaintainces. The AA was not meant to be amusing but I can see how it is .

Re: Successful Business People

I stumbled across this man when looking for fellow people who had Mercury trine Uranus. This is an interesting chart.

Peter Lynch

Quote:
American financier and stock market wizard who gained renown as the principal manager of the Fidelity Magellan mutual fund by transforming it into a $13 billion business. One of the most successful money managers in Wall Street history, he shocked his peers by retiring at age 46. He is the author of "One Up On Wall Street," 1989, "Beat the Street," 1993 and "Lean To Earn," 1995.

Lynch's dad was a Boston College math teacher who later worked as an auditor for John Hancock. His untimely death when Lynch was ten sent the boy to work on a paper route, then later as a caddie. "I caddied because I could make more on a Saturday morning than I could in a week of delivering newspapers." He began to pay close attention to those he was caddying for, businessmen, doctors and lawyers - all talking about the stock market. "Those years on the golf course were a great education, the next best thing to being on the floor of the exchange."
After winning a partial scholarship for caddies to attend Boston College,

Lynch made his first investment of $1,250 in the Flying Tigers at $7 a share. Two years later the stock jumped to $32, then climbed even higher. Selling his shares to help finance graduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, his marked tendency to be a loner workaholic earned him the nickname "The Mole."
In the summer of 1966, Lynch was one of a hundred applicants for a summer job with Fidelity when he found out he had an unbeatable edge; he had caddied for the President of the company as a teenager. Required by Fidelity to serve two years in the Army in South Korea before he could gain full-time employment with the company, he was finally accepted as a metals analyst in 1969. After eight years as director of research, he took over Magellan.

As the funds flourished, so did Lynch. Working 80-hour weeks throughout the '80s took its toll, however, and now that he had more money than he had ever dreamed of, he decided to cash it all in at age 46, the same age that his father was at his death. His work filled weeks left no time for his wife and children. "I knew there was something wrong with my life."
Lynch married Carolyn in 1968. They had three daughters, Annie, Beth and Mary and made their home on the Boston's North Shore.
In 5/31/1991, he and his wife started charitable foundations and Lynch spent some time in high visibility promoting his books, newsletter and financial products.
Three planets in the 8th, for our stock market wizard, astrology is working it's magic charm again, Jupiter (M.C) conjunct Pluto again for large amounts of money, my mother has this aspect, and she gets loans easily . She only has to think about getting a loan and the money is in her account lol.

*The only planet at the bottom (being technical) is the Moon in Sagittarius in the 2nd house.

*The other two mega businessmen had a cardinal t,square and Lynch has a mutable. However, communications strong, lots of caddying.

*Sun square Mars/Uranus.

*Moon in Sagittarius in exact trine to Jupiter in 9th (on M.C), does suggest a little "luck" his attitude is positive.

*No water in the chart (planets) but Scorpio is rising.

Sagittarius, Jupiter, 9th house is strong. The 8th house is POWERFUL and Lynch has Scorpio rising, and he has Jupiter conjunct Pluto in the 9th house!!! A theme is emerging lol.

Research, success in the stock-market, opportunity, luck, expansion. However, all work and no play, he did neglect his personal life by working 80 hours a week. The planet of relationships is placed in Virgo, in the sign of it's fall, and it is in a t,square in the 10th house (career). The planet at the apex can become stressed, and the point of balance lies in his the 4th house in Pisces (going home) and forgetting about work (as a Pisces I know how easy this is to do ), too much emphasis on his career (10th) left his private life neglected, this could be why he has so many planets are at the top of his chart (outer world) he has 9 planets above the horizon. Once he accumulated his fortune he retired early (went home) and became an author spreading the word on how to be successful in the stock market.

Mr Mutable.

Sun in Libra 1

Re: Successful Business People

Here's another Pisces...........

I have always been interested in the way successful business people seem to never be satisfied, and are (perhaps) always trying to set themselves further challenges and/or trying to prove themselves.

Rupert Murdoch is 78, and still doing what he's always done since his father died when he was 21 - acquiring stuff, originally newspapers, but now networks. It was said at the time that he was in cahoots with former British PM, Margaret Thatcher, and had her ear as well as her assurance that she would break the back of the hold the aristocracy had over business in the UK - chiefly so that Rupert could then have free reign over all!!

The most interesting feature of his chart - as I see it, anyway - is that T-square formed by Saturn (in Cap) opp Pluto, both squaring the Uranus conj MNN - the latter of which describes his acqisition of electronic media organisations.
This T-square described a complete breakdown - in preparation for rebuilding - of the financial and social system of the time. Rupert was born 17 months after the Wall St crash of `29, and so on the cusp of the economic depression of the 1930's. I am certain that energy infused his being, and perhaps still drives him to this day..... [perhaps in a way that a Baby Boomer such as myself cannot even begin to understand.]

For me, his mother's (Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, philanthropist, b. Feb 8th 1909, and still going strong) comments on Rupert in an interview with Andrew Denton are telling. I paraphrase:
"I don't always agree with everything Rupert does, but I am proud of him, because he's a wonderful father, and a wonderful son." (I think that Dame Elisabeth is a wonderful mother!!!)

Re: Successful Business People

Thanks for the chart R4ven is it very helpful for this little look at successful businessmen . It's getting funny with these Sun signs . You might be interested to read this article from StarIQ Pisces is clearly underestimated...However, it does depend on the rest of the chart, and we need to follow the classical ruler (Jupiter) as well as Neptune.

Here is a little extracted from the article:

Quote:
I have yet to find an astrology book that describes Pisceans as great athletes, millionaires and business tycoons, but if you check the facts, that is a little closer to the truth. The Orlando Sentinel quoted a survey done several years ago that found more millionaires had Sun in Pisces than any other sign! So what gives? Will the real Pisces please stand up, or remain harder to pin down than ever?

How quickly we forget that before the discovery of the planet Neptune, Pisces was ruled by, or associated with, the planet Jupiter, the same planet that rules Sagittarius. Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, is athletic, expansive, given to excess and great good fortune. Sagittarians born under Jupiter’s rulership are expected to be the same. Neptune, the poetic, long-suffering and other-worldly planet, was assigned to Pisces, but apparently somebody forgot to tell the Pisceans. While many do exhibit unmistakably Neptunian traits, ranging from inspired artistry to drug addiction, many others are outrageously successful, rich and athletic. Shaquille O’Neal, for instance.

The duality of Pisces is a double mystery, wrapped in an enigma: two fish, tied together, swimming round and round, fighting over who gets to be on the bottom. If questions over the sign’s rulership leave us feeling confused, the Pisceans would probably prefer it that way. Every Pisces is different, and a close check of their birth charts should reveal which ruler, Neptune or Jupiter, is more influential. In the case of Shaquille O’Neal, it’s definitely Jupiter.
In Rupert's chart looks like we have another Jupiter-Pluto conjunction, **** I want that aspect . It isn't surprising at all considering the astrological meaning of this aspect. Later I will post something on Jupiter-Pluto from a web article (if anyone has an article please post) or I will quote from one of my books. As it's a significant for the amassing of a fortune (I also have seen Jupiter-Pluto in a bank robbers chart ). The handling of large amounts of "stolen" money in this case.

We have a 3rd cardinal t.square in Rupert's chart, and you nailed his t,square by the way you explained the breakdown and restructuring of his business, and how Uranus is focused on media organizations.

Your right these people are never satisfied, do they ever reach the pinnacle they seek. They are all ambitious and crush the competition...Thanks again for helping with my thread by adding another chart

I will re-edit my astrological observations (in post number 8) as the thread progresses. When I have some more spare time I can check through all of the charts, and see what occurs the most, and the general nature of the chart.

Cardinal T-Square
I have this book too, it's good, it's classical, and accessible to the Moderns.

T-Squares as Drivers
I have this book too. I made a successful prediction on my own pregnancy, but anyway this concerns Cardinals t-squares and the need to have their own business to plow their energy into.

Re: Successful Business People

Here's yet another one, Shining Ray. Most `successful' people tend to bore me, but there are those who - for whatever reason - spark my interest. English entrepreneur, Sir Richard Branson, who started the Virgin label (and wasn't that a fortuitous and cheeky choice of name??) has another type of chart, but one also in which Jupiter features in a big way.

As I see it, he has a bucket chart, with Jupiter in Pisces, too , as the focus/handle. Also, the Jupiter-Saturn opposition seems to describe in part his motivation. I read somewhere that he's dyslexic, and so his Jupiter-Saturn opposition gives him that on-off thing that people who are not completely sure of their worth can exhibit. He's very showy, and seems to love being The Man at the top of his business empire - Leo Asc - also his hair could be to do with this Asc.

Branson's chart also shows inititiative, with all those planets in the eastern hemisphere. His first business venture was at age 16!!!

Re: Successful Business People

OK, I'm officially getting hooked on this subject.

I decided to pursue a different type of business person, so I chose (the late - she died late in 2007) Anita Roddick, the founder of the Body Shop empire. (I'm not sure whether you have those in US.) She began the Body Shop as an ethical business:

"Dame Anita Roddick, DBE (23 October 1942 – 10 September 2007) was a British businesswoman, human rights activist and environmental campaigner, best known as the founder of The Body Shop, a cosmetics company producing and retailing beauty products that shaped ethical consumerism.[1][2] The company was one of the first to prohibit the use of ingredients tested on animals and one of the first to promote fair trade with third world countries."
(quote from Wikipedia)

Unfortuantely her time of birth is not known, but it's interesting to note her mass of planets in Libra - cardinal, ethical/balance/justice - and the (possible, depending on her Moon placement) cardinal T-square involving.........................Jupiter in Cancer. Why is that not surprising??

Re: Successful Business People

Thanks again R4VEN, you have really helped with extra charts. He has a similar Jupiter-Pluto signature with Jupiter in Pluto's house (8th). I can't do chart patterns so I am glad you can . Jupiter is the handle planet in Pisces.
Saturn in Virgo is opposed Jupiter (aeroplanes), the Sky's (Jupiter) the limit (Saturn). I could go on all day with my astrological word-plays. There are no t.squares this time. However, he has some cardinal squares ~ Sun in Cancer square Mars in Libra...Mars in Libra square Uranus.

Re: Successful Business People

The more the better R4ven . It's always insightful to switch examples and see what drives and motivates a humanitarian individual. We have the Bodyshop here in the UK. Yes, the Libra emphasis for "Fair trade" is evident with 5 planets in Libra, she has a very cardinal chart and is active. The possibility of another cardinal t.square may exist.

Re: Successful Business People

Thanks for the charts Charmvirgo . You have helped a lot with this thread and it is appreciated. I forgot about Alan Sugar and he has only recently been on television with The Apprentice. I had to laugh that he was Aries his most well known saying is "Your Fired".

Alan Sugar has Sun trine Saturn, this is the same aspect as Warren Buffet (first chart posted). Organizational skills are good, and these individuals can work very hard. It is interesting to see another "Mercury in Pisces" appear.

Donald Trumps chart looks different from the others, he the same Jupiter-Saturn aspect as Richard Branson. The Moon in Sagittarius 5th represents the casino's and gambling. The element of earth is missing in his chart.

Re: Successful Business People

What planet rules aeroplanes, I am just wondering because of the tight Jupiter-Uranus aspect in Richard's chart. Jupiter-Uranus is becoming popular (pun not intended) in these charts.

The alcohol business scores high in Mercury/Mars/Neptune (factors)

Peter Lynch is highly Uranian. The stock market man and financial wizard - Jupiter/Uranus/Pluto

I will sort these results when I have more time... Sleep for now zzzzzzz

Re: Successful Business People

Hi Charm

I have no birth time for Warren Buffet, but the 12th/Pisces/Neptune factors score high all over the board, it's weird because it's not something you connect to business. Usually supporting aspects like cardinal t.squares, or other drivers in the chart are there. I have seen Capricorn in property development, it must be all the concrete, Taurus personal investments, security conscious etc. At the end of the study I will try and see what the results are, through the predominating factors, missing elements etc..I have put the charts through Kepler my astro-search, but I might have the boring task of telling the computer what to look for, it's lazy, but faster than me when all the data is in .

Uranus/Aquarius is aeroplanes, so not surprising that features in Branson's chart.

I am putting up another businessman/entrepreneur, an Australian called Dick Smith - unlikely to be known outside this country. He began life fixing radios, then that grew into an electronics empire called Dick Smith Electronics. This chain is Australia wide, and is still going strong, although Smith sold it some time ago. He spends his time `adventuring' - usually solo flights, or climbing mountains. He also loans money to people wishing to start their own businesses.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Smith

I have no time of birth. Most interesting on his chart is the quintile between Uranus (electronics, flight/planes) and Jupiter. He's also another Pisces!!
His Saturn-Mars conjunction - in Pisces - is also significant in that he's been almost totally self-motivated and self-directed, and is one of these highly energetic types who sleeps 4 hours a night!!
He has a quite heavily-laden T-square - Sun-Mercury opp Neptune, both squaring the Mars-Saturn. That seems to describe a nice balance between dreams (Neptune) and reality/hard work (Mars-Saturn conj).
With his time of birth being unknown, he may have his moon either in Sag (my bet that it is - he's very optimistic & out-going, and just oozes positivity) or Capricorn.

Re: Successful Business People

Thanks R4ven, I used to always think it was Jupiter but I read in Liz Greene's Uranus book Saturn- Uranus can have fears around aeroplanes, I will find the quote later, as I can't remember it all now. Richard was more Uranian than Jupiterian when I put his chart through the computer, and he had a very tight Jupiter - Uranus trine. I will add the other chart to my list.

Re: Successful Business People

It's so funny the number of "Mercury in Pisces" in this group, I don't feel so bad about my own .

Re: Successful Business People

Sun-Mars is "active" and appears in a high number of charts, nearly all of them, and Sun-Pluto is "powerful" too. I will list all the solar aspects in the study. I will see how it changes as more charts are added, that's always fun. Usually, in most cases it waters down the results. The Sun-Saturn's occur but mostly soft aspects (sextile & trine) up till now.

Re: Successful Business People

I best start with the results and see what happens as it grows. This is out of 9 charts, a small amount to begin with.

Concerning astrological signs - (Keep in mind our fair trader has 5 planets in Libra and financial wizard had 3 Gemini Planets) This is how the charts average out... Go Pisces, go Pisces, go Pisces...Although the aspect study will change the maps in energy, drive, power etc.

On the whole these people are "ruthless" Pisceans and "eat you for breakfast" Librians .

Listed Top - Bottom (please consider still only a small batch of charts, results can change dramatically as more are added )

I have re-edited this because I counted the Moon and all charts don't have birth times.

Pisces 233
Libra 220
Cancer 186
Gemini 166
Leo 120
Virgo 113
Aries 53
Capricorn 53
Aquarius 40
Scorpio 13
Sagittarius 0 (note that there are Moon's in Sagittarius in this study with correct data)
Taurus 0
