Sorry, if that seems like a simplistic interpretation but it's the only way I can make heads and tails of it.
I'm so sorry *hugs*.

Re: Home roots IC

I wanted to add (Aquarius on IC) that family model was mum and dad kept separate budget. We rearly sat together at one table like you see in the films (all the family nicely together). Only on birthdays. I never recieved no birthday gifts from my father. I recieved some but never initiation coming from him. Yes thats my opposite sex parent. I asked my mum that all the conflict started when my father took family budget money and drunk it. At the start of the family budget was family budget but then mum decided to keep it separate. It was never alchoholism for my father it was socializing or burying problems in alchohol. But he has stron character. Never week.

It sounds like you have a few things going on here, how about posting your chart for us to evaluate?

Just found your chart from another thread. You have mars conj IC very tight which suggests one parent had bad temper, it is also square sun which suggests father. Your sun is also quincunx uranus, which suggests

Sun Quincunx (Inconjunct) Uranus

Your self expressive urges are usually misunderstood by people and this creates frustrations for you. As you disconnect from the need to be understood and get more in contact with the will to achieve positive results from your actions, your true self emerges from the core of your personality. You grow by learning to leave well enough alone.

http://cafeastrology.com/natal/quinc...retations.html

Uranus is also conj saturn and neptune. Neptune ruling IC suggesting structure (saturn) was disruptive, unusual (uranus) and sometimes poss none existant (neptune) and prob swung between these energies.

How am I doing so far? Does this more explain your IC

I have Aquarius Asc and Uranus conj sun/moon midpoint, so I can see similarities. I thought both my parents unusual to the point that I really thought I must have been adopted. No one ever gave me a straight answer and I felt detached from them....

I think it is clearly explained this way and probably the best way to do so. Personally I suspect sexual abuse in my own life but cannot for the life of me remember anything. (thats why I am interested about Pallas in connection with house 4.)

I looked up the book of Liz Green and Howard Sasportas, about Mercury, Venus and Mars and a Venus-Pluto aspect in a chart or Venus in the 8th can also be connected with this phenomena apparently. That, or the strong dislike of the parents towards the sexual expression of their young daughter (which is perfectly normal for development but apparently far more pronounced in girls with Pluto-Venus aspects, good or bad aspects alike and totally misunderstood by some parents who dont know how to deal with that). It can just manifest as being terribly cuddly and wanting to kiss and hug a lot which some parents find strange and therefore push the child away from them, especially fathers.
But in some cases a parent becomes then sexually abusive and takes advantage of this behavior and initially the child does not understand it and misinterpretes it as love. So this might explain the following:
[QUOTE by Noidea]
I know the 8th house is a very powerful house but I am unsure of how Venus problems could possibly play out with a child

Re: Home roots IC

Hey thanks for the interpretations.

Starlink, that is interesting, because although I didn't get sexually abused by either parent my mother was verbally very sexually derogatory to me. She used to make me wear hideous clothes and call me ugly, fat, slutty all the time.

Astrologer50 sorry to be a pain but that interpretation is nothing like my childhood.......There was structure, a lot of it, suffocating structure.

Noidea,
Maybe because it is pisces on that IC of yours, you may not be seeing it really clearly.
You told us a story of running away at 14 and walking around looking in other's homes windows, wishing you were inside.
One of the snippets that Raven quoted was " an early life filled with DISILLUSIONMENT.
And LOTS OF DREAMING.
And VISUALIZING WHAT YOU WISHED FOR IN YOUR LIFE.
To me that sounds very much like the little you described. Wandering around alone in the dark, wondering what everyone else is eating for dinner is certainly 'disillusionment' and also 'dreaming' and wishing in the literal sense.

Also, it is kind of unrealistic for you to hear a few people discuss their experiences with the IC in their chart, and then to jump to the conclusion that working with the IC 'does not work.' Millions of people have studied this particular principle, the IC, for literally thousands of years. So perhaps you might give it a little more time...LOL

Katydid response was really really good.. Wondering around 'idealising' what your wanted your family relations to be like.....

Uranus/saturn is Freedom v convention. Saturn/neptune a parent crushed your ideals (neptune) to the point of total disillusionment then uranus kicked in and you left

Re: Home roots IC

IC in Sag and Jupiter in 4th house. Happy childhood ... parents were good providers, not a great deal of luxury but not wanting in any way. Saturn opposes Jupiter ... may be that brought a lot of discipline

Have you got an 'excuse' to blame everything on the upcoming eclipse? I think I do because
the new moon eclipse is 29ca and my IC is 1Leo. OUCH

I am waiting for the next shoe to drop.

OUCH indeed!!!

My 7th house cusp is 27 Cancer, with Sun/Moon MP 28 Cancer, a-a-a-nd Mercury 1 Leo. (I cannot shut my mind off - it is driving me ker-azy )
I've decided I need to become more detached, because I'm so exhausted from reacting to stuff I can't control.

Wait---isn't your mercury relatively unaspected? This must be quite an energizing thing for sure then.

I am really curious what this next eclipse will bring.

Yes, my Mercury is usually free-as-a-bird. It does not like this full moon thingy at all - so far, anyway.

This must be quite an energizing thing for sure then.
It is, but in a somewhat uncontrolled way.

So far, my in insists on being all dramatic and hurt and `affected' - I am so sick of myself, and am asking for help with detaching.

Eclipses usually bring change/letting go - at the very least.
I've been expecting more raw emotion - energy - but my experience so far is mental (very mental!!)

Your IC experience????? I would imagine that to be a delicate spot, so to speak.

Well, since this thread just happens to be on the "Home root of the IC" I can answer and still be ontopic.

Tr Pluto is conjunct my natal capricorn moon. That is important because I think eclipses need a backstory like that, of transits or progressions , to really be impactful.

Ok, the upcoming eclipse is conjunct my IC which is 1 Leo.

Our house has some major issues right now, like some plumbing problems, which flooded the downstairs and ruined the carpets, which we have pulled up, and it is now bare concrete floor.
Problems with Insurance company [but there is 5000 'whatever you call it' anyway] so we don't have the cash right now to fix everything up.
Huge ongoing fight with our stupid Homeowners Association over a beautiful, huge old Oak tree which they are certain is going to fall over on the public path and kill somebody so they are trying to force us to remove the entire tree for thousands of dollars.
I could go on but you get the lovely picture I am sure.

My husbands job has a forced hiatus [ non paid vacation essentially] for a month or so every year and of course this is that month and everything went haywire NOW!

Okay---reminding myself that Pluto conjunct a Capricorn 8th house Moon is actually a lovely, empowering experience, which the eclipse is preparing me for as we speak.

Sag on the IC checking in here. As a child, I in lived in a rural area on the weekdays and then I would go stay in the city on the weekends with my father. I guess that was the traveling side of Sag.

Yes, that's the traveling side and the 'dual' nature as well. The best of both worlds as they say.

That's the spirit!!!

Also (and this is technically off-topic, but still astrological) tr Pluto in Cap will be quincunx this New Moon (and is currently quincunx your IC - perhaps providing some `cleansing' experiences to your home front, with the requirement for digging deep within to find your resources).............
I'm certainly feeling Pluto, but also have it transiting 12th house since early 2008, so am being given a continual Plutonic experience!!

It's all good, of course, but not easy in the first instance.

"As a child, I in lived in a rural area on the weekdays and then I would go stay in the city on the weekends with my father. I guess that was the traveling side of Sag."
lillybelle, thanks for that summary of Sag IC. My oldest son has Sag IC, and is currently living in the city after growing up in the country, and every now and then feels he needs to be back in the sticks. His childhood was spent traveling back to the country for weekend visits to his father - the opposite of your own experience.

Re: Home roots IC

Joining in on this thread. I feel that my IC and 4th house holds a lot of contradictions, and I can't seem to grasp it all...

IC is in Sagittarius, with South Node and Uranus Conjunct. (South Node same degree as IC and Uranus 2 degree orb). And I have Jupiter/Neptun Conjunct in 4th house, but in Capricorn... (wide orb here, 6 degrees or something).

Well... As I think someone else described with IC in Sagittarius I had a happy childhood. I'm the only child, Mum and Dad married, a dog, big house in the country, lot's of space, open air, vacations with my parents...

But on the emotionall level it has been... a bit turbulent. Not much showing of affection. None at all between my parents, almost nothing from my dad to me, we have a really emtionally distant relationship.

They, at least my Mum, wanted everything good for me, and I'm raised with the idea that "The world is your oyster, - go out and do what you want and make yourself happy".

On the top of that, I'm somewhat the weirdo in our family. They are very avrage and traditional in many ways (dinner at five o'clock, football on TV, same job, same friends all their lives), while I was the dreamy weird kid, who became a vegetarian, belived in spiritual things, felt everything all the time, cried, was emotinall, artistic, with musical abilities, started studying astrology and so on...

I don't know If I can conclude with anything yet, other than... that I think my IC placement holds some contradictions...

LittleMiss, reading back through earlier posts, it seems that your Uranus conj MSN in 4th manifests in your life as the distance between you and your father, and between your parents, as well as the rebellion in you. Now, you may not see yourself as different or rebllious, but according to your family `culture', you certainly are different.

And your own hopes and dreams for yourself (Jupiter conj Neptune) perhaps your mother has `picked up on' your Neptune-Jupiter conjunction, and she has encouraged you to go for what you want.

I have found that family members tend to hone in on that which we hold close to us - whether it be fears about our worth, or private dreams for ourselves.

And the `house in the country' sounds very typically IC in Sag.

Re: Home roots IC

This thread is extremely interesting. I have searched for descriptions of the IC for years and have found very few.

My IC is in Virgo (I have a Cancer Ascendant) and up to the age of 18, my grandmother (a Virgo sun funny enough) would clean my room. Also, my Virgo Sun grandma played a very important role in my childhood (she took off work to take care of me while my parent worked) and she still plays a big role in my life.

Other than that, I have become a perfectionist throughout the years. The perfectionist tendencies started after age 22 (I am 25 now).

R4VEN wrote somewhere in this thread that the Virgo IC child identifies with the opposite sex parent. In my case this is very much the case, even before my father died. The only aspects I can think of involving the IC are Pallas and BML opposite the IC. I don't know if BML is yet another indication of father loss.

My Mercury is in Aries conjunct Venus in Taurus in the 11th, and combined with my Virgo IC, writing has always been my passion. Also, I cannot "study" or do any important writing outside my home.

Don't know much else about it....

I read somewhere that the IC also describes the circumstances surrounding the end of our life/death. Now, as a grief counselor, this idea fascinates me? Is it true?
