It may not be so much a case of "opposites attract" as it is sameness creates challenges!
Your astrological houses (areas of focus in a chart) and his houses are almost the same (same size, same signs, same Ascendants, etc. - the only difference is the sign of your Midheavens and Nadirs). This means that, when his energy is around you and your energy is around him, he focuses on things in his life in almost the same way you focus on things in your life. As a result, when you try to use your own energy for YOU, he will feel that energy as directly benefitting HIM. And, similarly, when he tries to use his own energy for HIMSELF, you will feel that energy as directly benefitting YOU.
This strange focusing on the SAME thing in the SAME way can create "energy" struggles. As each of you tries to accomplish the same thing...using the other person's energy while you do so. Perhaps the MOST helpful thing for you both to do is understand you have the SAME focuses in life and can work TOGETHER to help each other accomplish them. A challenge for you is MUCH of his energy interacts with your Mars (being, also action, anger), indicating that many things he may do on his own for himself "tick you off" somehow. The challenge for you is to realize most likely he isn't TRYING to upset you...that's simply the way his energy feels to you.
However, something to be careful of is he has Pluto (transformation, also power, control) square (energy needs to be combined with) Venus (relationships); so he could be very controlling in relationships. The challenge will be to get him to SHARE power in the relationship. He should be able to do this...if he feels safe and comfortable in the relationship.
