Dreams of Neptune and Pluto?
Have you ever awoken from a dream that was so vivid and intense that you wake up and think "Wait, so that wasn't for real?" Since January this is been happening me frequently, but last night's dream really took the cake. I won't waste a bunch of space by going into the specifics of last night's crazy lucid dream, or any of these other dreams, because that would be way too lengthy. But last night might have bordered on an out-of-body experience or something, that was just incredible.
Anyway, I was wondering if this has an astrological link. Transiting Pluto is conjunct my natal Neptune in the 12th house, so I'm thinking that could possibly have something to do with it. Doesn't Neptune rule things like dreams, subconsious creativity, sleep, and things like that? And this transiting Pluto is trining my Virgo stellium of inner planets also. Maybe transiting Mars opposing the stellium?
[Moderator edit - Thread moved to the 'Transits' sub-board, as discussing transits to understand a current occurrence.]

I think Neptune, especially, has a strong effect on your dream life. I've found the effect to be notably stronger when it is in conjunction - just "sitting there on top of your poor little planet" . From 2000-2002, I had Neptune in Aquarius transiting back and forth over my natal Moon in Aquarius. I've never had such constant vivid dreams before or since. Yeah, I still dream almost every night - and remember them ( I started keeping a dream journal in 2000, and have trained myself to remember more of my dreams) However, the clarity of the dreams seems to have diminished greatly since Neptune moved completely away from my Moon. They are a lot fuzzier now - and can't remember as many details. This may have some organic causes as well, because I know there is a problem with my pineal and pituitary somehow. But I have been noticing for sometime how this all happened with Neptune on my Moon - so I thought I'd share.

Yea, I thinking it was Neptune. I'm glad you validated that for me. Neptune/Moon must have been quite intense for you! I can only imagine what that must have been like.

This has happened to me all my life. I was born with Neptune conjunct Sun and Moon. Many of my dreams do not seem like dreams as much as living an alternate existence.
I associate difficult Pluto transits with violent dreams.

Re: Dreams of Neptune and Pluto?
Also, both Pluto and Neptune have a lot to do with one's subconscious. But so does the moon. Look to her transits, as well.

Yes, Neptune rules all that. So does the twelfth house (where your Nep is located and Pluto is transiting), which is the house of the subconscious. Whilst most of the other houses signify our phyiscal and mental selves and aspects directly connected with our being and ego, the twelfth is all about self-undoing and total liberation from the ego. This is the house of the non-physical, transcendental or the 'other-worldly' part of the 'self'. This is where the soul wants to liberate itself from the physical barriers, so yes, your dream could "have bordered on an out-of-body experience".
Pluto is all about transformation, which does not always have to be violent in the 'base' sense of the word, but it is always intense. Pluto goes beyond 'scratching the surface' and digs deep into the darkest, most hidden part of our being, which is why its transits are so intense that it can shake the native, where the native might feel that something/a part of him/her died and s/he was re-born, if you so will. With Pluto transiting your 12th, it is perhaps literally pushing you to look deep into yourself, listen to your inner voice, self-introspect and become more conscious of your subconscious (the real 'self'). See, this is the stage, the twelfth house ie, just before the physical ego /the worldly 'self' takes over, the first house ie. That is why the 12th house is also sometimes aptly associated with the pre-natal self.

I have experienced the same thing. I have a sun/neptune conjunction and when
I was very young it was especially powerful and vivid. Sometimes I did not know if the things I dreamed were real or not unless I asked someone if certain things had actually happened.
Also, when I was very young, and was supposed to be getting up for school in the morning, my Mom would call out to me and say , Are you awake, time to get up for school.' I WOULD HAVE THE MOST REALISTIC DREAMS OF WASHING MY FACE AND GETTING DRESSED--then my mom would come in and yell at me---I thought you said you were up. I would be so surprised because I truly thought I was up and getting ready. It was freaky. And it happened a lot.

I must admit that I have never really learned much about the 12th house, although I have a planet there myself. I even find most of the online descriptions to be really vague. I guess it's kind of a mysterious house. But your post did help me though.
And about the bolded part...it's funny you mentioned that because that's exactly what happened to me around the time Pluto entered Capricorn late last year. There were some things that I stopped doing that I am now much better off without.

I know. Just this morning I was in a room, very tired, and thinking there was no way I could get moving. I just didn't feel as though I could go to work. But I knew I had no choice.
Then I woke up. To this day my dreams are so vivid and so intense that it can take me minutes to lose the feeling from having just emerged from an alternate reality. It totally stinks when the dreams are bad, but when they are good, it's wonderful.
My wife rarely ever remembers ANY dreams.
I also have three planets in the 12th, including Venus, and I have always needed a huge amount of "down-time".

I just had a kind of realization. I was about to say that I didn't have any planets in the 12th house. But in 'reality' [ funny to use that term in this thread] my Jupiter is in the 12th, although 4 degrees from the ascendant.
I just always view it as conjunct my asc, thus a first house planet.
And it rules my 8th, so there is the Neptune and Pluto influence as described in this threads title .
It is a strange alternate reality when you are in that zone. And i guess in some way that is a 12th house zone, a place where you cannot distinguish reality from nonreality , until you wake up and shake yourself out of it.
You have venus there--did you ever have illusions about certain gf's, like not see them for who they really were? Or was it more like romantic visions and fantasy? Then again, like you said, maybe it just means that you really like to sleep?

Do you ever try and interpret your dreams? Or are they just really vivid but don't seem to shed light on your present circumstances?

I've been thinking about making a thread on this subject, so it's odd that y'all posted this. I've been keeping a dream journal for almost a decade. Every now and then I will wake up suddenly. I always remember to look at the clock. Later, when I do the chart for that time, there is always something becoming exact or hitting a spot exactly in my chart when it happens.
In general, I've also found that what is going on in the sky at the time always contains clues to the interpretation of the dreams. So, if you're puzzled by what it could mean, check out the transits, it can shed some insight on them. (Although there are some dreams that just seem too jumbled to get too much out of - however, sometimes the meaning becomes clearer with the passage of time. Probably when something else triggers the transit that triggered the dream. )

Re: Dreams of Neptune and Pluto?
I once had a dream, it was my first dream where I could fly. In the dream I was looking at my feet. And all of a suddon I thought to myself: wait a minute, I know I can fly. When I tried, I saw my feet moving upwards and then I was levitating. Lol and the best part was that I was so incredibly happy. There was no way that this could be dream; this was what I was thinking in that dream, because the feeling of levitating and flying was so real and intense that I thought to myself in the dream: When I wake up I am going out of my bed and levitate.
Ofcourse....when I woke up I couldn't do it:P
