I have some newbie questions

Hi,
I'm a total stranger to astrology but I love to learn more about it. I always wanted to get into astrology and now this forum is godsend

Is it possible to link astrology to mysticism? I like to know how astrology can help me to predict the future of the earth. Okay... this might be a bit heavy for a newbie, but could astrology for example have helped me to predict 9/11 attack on world trade center?

Can astrology say something about future of mankind?

Re: I have some newbie questions

Hi Probablist

Yes, astrology definately can. Astrology was a tool for survival in its early conceptions, a divining tool for survival. People eventually learned through observation of the stars that they could predict things.

Though mainstream astrology omits the core divining nature of it (to maintain its secular harmlessness and 'entertainment' value), divination is astrologys' roots.

There are many methods to determining the future of things, a few of these being transits, electional & event astrology, and last but not least horary astrology. We can look at the natal chart (birth) of the thing inquired after --whether it be a rock, a person, or a building or launch of a business, and with transits we can investigate what should come of the thing. We can also ask a question about the thing enquired after (horary), and should we be truely concerned, this is also a reliable and much simpler method to determine what shall come of the thing, especially since we have one aspect of it in mind.

It could say something about the future of mankind, but as always, there's a bit of the free-will element; but astrology will greatly describe our tendencies and what is most likely to happen. It is up to the astrologer to be skilled and objective enough to determine such an answer securely.

Re: I have some newbie questions

There's a whole load of sub forums on this site like Mundane Astrology, and Astrology in the Aquarian age, 'other' astrology and the Astrology Now section. If you look at things there you will see the techniques people use.

Theo is a professional mundane astrologer I think so his posts are quite informative

Re: I have some newbie questions

That is excellent background, so I thank you for explaining. Now I feel intrigued when we talk about the energies from the planets, sun and moon that can say a lot about a person when they were born and how their star sign and positions of planets changing in the sky will affect their good fortunes and bad.

The astrological energy... is it just light energy or also the gravity of the planets. I studied some astronomy and was wondering if gravity aLSO affects people astrologically. So the Sun has greatest gravity and light, but do the stars also have any effect on our lives at all?

The stars of course are just like the Sun but so much far away, do stars have any effect in the astrology horoscope? I mean I know the zodiacal constellations are in the horoscope, but do the individual bright stars in the sky (in the constellations) have astrological effects as well/

Thank you again.

Re: I have some newbie questions

Probabilist,

I truely cannot say whether it is gravity, or light; but surely astrology operates on the universal theory that "everything is everything", and "as above, so below". If anything, I'd propose the idea that is vibration and light. I am not sure whether everything has gravity, but everything has a vibration.

Yes, there are stars that the ancients have ascribed as having an effect on us directly, these are the "fixed stars", and are incorporated into the horoscope--if you have a good astrology program (or good memory!) you can easily see whether there are any conjunctions (fixed stars only operate by conjunctions to other planets) to the fixed stars. Some asteroids are also attributed to having some effect on us.
