Re: obsessive compulsive traits

I don't know exactly which natal chart factors reflect OCD but the one person I knew who has it had a highly aspected (apex of a T-Square) Virgo Mercury:

Moon in Scorpio in the 6th (with Sag Jupiter/Neptune conjunct it)

Saturn in Gemini (12th house) opposing Moon(/Jupiter/Neptune)

Both Saturn and Moon(/Jupiter/Neptune) squaring a 4th house Mercury in Virgo (which is the ruler of chart, Gemini rising).

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

I have fought OCD tendencies all my life. I remember from about the age of 8 or 10 on through about 16 - I had a terrible time with it. I would feel compelled to "tap" things a certain number of times - light switches, especially. Sometimes I had to turn the light switch on and off a certain number of times. Sometimes I would walk past something in a shop and see it out of the corner of my eye. It would be something I wasn't even interested in - but would feel compelled to go back and look at it - for no reason. I remember one day I just got sick of it, and when it tried to compel me, I just said "NO!" to it. I have never had it as bad since then.
However, I have had minor relapses, mostly doing times of high stress - and mostly the light switch thing again.

My chart also has a featured Mercury at the apex of a t-square. My Mercury is in Sag(r) in the 12th house. It is t-squared by Uranus/Pluto tightly conjunct in Virgo in the 8th, and by Saturn, and a Chiron/Ceres conjunction in Pisces in the 2nd house. I also suspect my unaspected Jupiter (r) in Gemini has something to do with it - and of course, Mercury disposits it, too. My chart is at link at bottom of my posts, if you want to take a look.

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

Compulsiveness is very often traced back to Scorpio, Pluto aspects. Have a look at those one's. Like the post of Allie: Moon in Scorpio in the 6th, yes, this is probably one of the reasons.

Aaah, so maybe my Uranus/Pluto tight conjunction in Virgo in the 8th is the main culprit?

Mars in Virgo in the 6th and I'm the sloppiest/laziest/careless person I know. I guess I got the bad end of that placement.

and I agree, OCD would have it's ties with Pluto/Saturn/Moon connecting with Pluto in the 6th.

I know someone with a Capricorn stellium that's the laziest person alive. There are always exceptions.

Oh yes, that certainly could be the area to look for this. 8th house experiences (you know what is meant by that) could have led to this.
The 8th house is a very psychic house and lots of psychological reasons can be the reason for OCD.

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

I'm more inclined to say OCD is related to a highly stressed Mercury than to 8th house planets.

Well, I can see that point, too. The Uranus/Pluto conjunction in the 8th makes a square to my Mercury (r) in the 12th - so it is "stressing my Mercury". Not to mention all the stress coming from the other side of the t-square. I'm realizing that alot of my OCD comes from my mother lying to me about alot of things when I was small. Also, I've had many experiences where pieces of information that I desperately needed to know was withheld from me - bringing all sorts of anxiety and confusion. I'm obsessive/compulsive, like Millionora, about getting information because of this. I still think my unaspected Jupiter(r) in Gemini in the 6th represents alot of this, too.

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

These traits might occur during one or more of the following transits to a natal chart.

~Jupiter in hard aspect to Uranus
~Mars conjunct Pluto in the 15th degree of a fixed sign
~Saturn in hard aspect to Moon
~Mars semi-sextile to Pluto

This would relate to health matters perhaps and germ conscious but does not in itself point to obsession.

Mars conjunct Pluto is the obsessive aspect. None of the others.

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

I posted a chart of my friends girlfriend. She used to battle OCD most of her life. But is alot better now. Thanks to my virgo friend naggin her about it. This girl has the scorpio moon, could be in the 8th if u use a different house system. This girls mind must race being a gemini with mercury conjunct her sun. Her OCD may relate to the oppostion from saturn in the 8th to her Sun/Mercury conjunction. Just thought I could help out with a chart of someone with OCD

Ah, thanks Ekim! Also in this chart the 6th house is ruled by Mercury. Interesting. Hope you are well!

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

After reading the thread, I began to wonder if I have an OCD and don't know about it. You know... Scorpio Moon, Virgo Sun, no easy aspects to Mercury...

I took a test and it suggests I go see a doctor

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

I wish there was a more scientific--or at least organized--way of answering this question, but I can only offer personal observations. Perhaps we can create a forum poll to test certain theories...

With the indications mentioned above, I tend to equate OCD with quincunx aspects, particularly those that form yod configurations. Few signs involved in such an aspect have common traits; two exceptions are Aries-Scorpio, which share Mars rulership, and Taurus-Libra, which share Venus rulership. In my experience, quincunx aspects can be more "annoying" than square aspects because the energy does not have a clear outlet. It's a sort vague disquiet, an itch that nothing can alleviate. Thus, an individual may create obsessive-compulsive rituals to physically or mentally work through this energy. There are more productive ways to harness the energy of a quincunx, of course, and not all individuals with this aspect will display obsessive-compulsive tendencies. I just thought it may be worth mentioning.

Some astrologers do not consider a double-quincunx to be a yod if the apex planet is not the fastest-moving planet in the configuration. However, my eighth house Pluto in Scorpio connects into many inner planets through this aspect, including Mercury (thought) and Mars (action). Mercury and Mars are in mutual reception, so the energy bounces directly from Pluto (obsession) to Mars (action) to Mercury (thought) and continues back and forth between Mars (action) and Mercury (thought) ad finitum.

Pluto is involved in another yod configuration with apex Mars, which may be worth delineating, as well. Pluto (obsession) sextiles a highly-dignified but afflicted Saturn (order), and both quincunx Mars (action).

Perhaps if you post your natal chart here, we can comb it for indications. I would like to add a caveat, however, that you don't need astrology to tell you if you have or don't have a specific condition--although I understand that it can be comforting and enhance self-awareness.

Best of luck to you, and remember--nothing bad will happen if you don't touch that wall!

Re: obsessive compulsive traits

I have OCD (which I was being treated by meds when I was younger) now I embrace it and working really hard to control it than allowing it to control me.

I have Merc (r) in Sag in the 6th house- with Pluto being the ruler of my 6th- with Saturn in Virgo square Merc. Also- Saturn rules my 8th house.
ALSO Merc is my chart ruler...

Also, over the last couple yrs my obsessions would go from one extreme to the other... which T Pluto was conj to my Mars/DC at 29 degrees Sag.
