FAQ is a closed *sticky* and is not for additional comments as it contains forum rules.

Have you looked in our Recommendations forum?

May I suggest you read the 'welcome to the world of astrology’ and other ---sticky' at the top of this forum? It has some great explanations, links etc. At the top of every forum there are lots of ‘stickys’ which explain matters in that forum, along with guidelines & tips

There is a 'plethora' of information on AW, espec in the 'stickys' at the top of every forum, our Education forum and Recommendations forum to. Plus we have a good search feature,[but not foolproof obviously, so try here first] bit like google using keywords – initially select advanced and try just selecting 'titles' rather than posts or you'll get too many threads. If this doesn’t get results then try google

For a free online ephemeris I use this one

Throughout the forums but mainly in natal astrology there are two main branches Placidus (unequal size houses) v Equal House (whereby each house is same size) but lots more……. For more information on these go here.

It's only with study and research will you be able to assess where your planets are deposited and in which houses... thus see which 'glove fits'

This is predominently a Traditional astrology site. The links I have posted above are for Modern Astrologer. The basic differences are that Trads don't use the outer planets uranus, Neptune or Pluto, whereas moderns do..

there has been a discussion on this matter here...

are outer planets generational or personal

Re: Methods of chart interpretation

Thanks Astrologer50; I've been totally curious to find out the difference between the two and why and didnt know where I could read about it.

This should be enlightening!

Re: Methods of chart interpretation

I think that the dominant quality (mutable, fixed, cardinal) and element (air, fire, earth, water) should be calculated, it reveals a lot about a person's fundamental approach to life.

The Sun, Moon and Ascendant are quite important in getting a good understanding of personality.

Look for the tightest aspects first to know the most important characteristics in someone. Unaspected planets (by major aspects) tend to go to extremes psychologically and will behave very strongly predictively even if it is an inner planet.

Planets out of bounds (declination over 23 degrees 27 minutes either North or South) will go to extremes in the planet's domain, this can be either good or bad. People with many planets out of bounds definitely make their mark on the world, they are not bound by the traditions of society.

I would look for planets making a close aspect (especially conjunction and opposition) to the nodes and vertex to better understand a person's destiny or fate and special gifts from past lives.

Stelliums in a house are important in showing a life focus and special interest/gifts.

Angular planets are very strong in a person's psyche (especially if near the IC).

I also find the astrological sentence method mentioned earlier very useful in interpretation.

Thumbs up For all Newbies - Basic lesson - How to read the Natal Chart

I find this very helpful specially...

The Lesson 9

The Aspects -a connection or relationship between two or more planets. This connection always alters the interpretation of the planets and signs involved. When planets are in aspect to each other, their interpretations must be blended according to the nature of the aspect.

This is the one which I get confused when i see a natal chart for the 1st time and wonder what it all means-the lines runs across each planets connecting them.

now i have a clear picture of the Natal chart with the help of lesson 9 which give us a glance of how to understand what it means with examples with diagrams
