Merc Retro along with Sun & Mars in 8th House Solar Return. With Neptune on the SR Ascendent with ruler, Uranus in the 1st House. Wow! Is this something to be cautious about? What does Merc Retro do in the SR 8th along with the Sun & Mars. Mars would make adverse aspects to Jup, Saturn & Uranus

Hi edwchas, mmmm... that does look a bit alarming indeed, but never forget to look at the natal chart in relation to the SR chart. See where that Mercury , Sun and Mars fall in your natal chart and also which houses they rule in your natal chart. 8th house shows some sort of crisis or transformation this year, related to the houses in the natal chart where these planets fall into and which they rule.

The SR Ascendant, very important, in which house does it fall in your natal chart? That house will be the focus of this year. If the cusp falls within 5° of the next house, take the next house.

Starlink, I did not know that's how to approach SR analysis.

Those SR 8th house planets are in the Natal 12th conjuncting Sun, Jup, Neptune, Mars, Merc. Effecting the Natal 10th, the Sun. Natal 8th & 11th houses for Merc.
Natal 6th for Mars.

SR Ascendent falls into Natal 4th.

I looked into the "Bills Rulership" book for 12 & 8th definitions.

The person that has this chart is self employed and will be responsible to do their own taxes, but has not incorporated themself, so for sure there will be tax problems. This person also has anxiety and has worry tendencies. The person is also dating someone younger who is not working, I think Mars ties into that.

But How would I look at the natal 12th, should I approach this SR analysis as if they are transits? If the SR acendent falls into the natal 4th.

Hi, I have Bills Rulershipbook as well, but there are no definitions like you wrote in your post, only definitions, like "afflictions in general", disappointments, distress, suffering from disease amongst many others. Where do you get that paragraph from? Maybe you have another book from Bill? Anyways, if the SR Ascendant falls in your natal 4th, then this coming year will have the focus on your family.
From what I understand you have a full 12th house natally and now Sun, Mars and retro Mercury are not only in your natal 12th but also connected to the SR 8th house. Your 10th, 11th, 8th and 6th houses will be affected also.

8th house has to do with crisis and transformation. Being natally already in a house of sorrow, selfsacrifice, and karma, certain issues from the 12th house will maybe come to the surface or things will happen this year which force you to look at the issues hidden in the 12th house. 12th house is mainly subconscious, but the 8th house can bring it up through confrontation, either with others, maybe friends (11th house), your career (10th house), an illness (the 6th house) or the death of someone (the 8th house).

We are now only talking about the placements of these planets in the houses. You can also place natal planets in your SR chart to get a sense of what could take place. Where for instance is you Venus right now in the SR chart? If natally it is in your 2nd house but this year in the SR 11th, then you see that this Venus now will express her energy, her 2nd house sign and placement energy, in the 11th house, with friends, or charity (like spending money) or helping out a friend financially. Always combine the natal and the SR placements.

The 8th house indeed has to do with tax money, but also with inheritance, borrowing money, support from a partner (2nd from the 7th). So you could be confronted with any one of these. So Mercury, (friends, hope and wishes) now in the 8th of Solar Return, could maybe mean that friends want to borrow money from you or vice versa.

12th house planets in the 8th or 8th house planets in the 12th can enhance your intuition. You could get tremendous insight into your own problems or other peoples problems. There are numerous ways of mixing this. In order to know which one will be THE one, I think your intuition would have to do the work. If I get a chart in front of me, I instinctively choose one of the things mentioned above, be it inheritance, tax problems, death, whatever. That is up to the astrologer and each of us does it differently but should in fact come to the same outcome.

Personally I do not like prediction at all. I always keep it very much on the surface, pointing out the main issues. We are no fortune tellers, so you can just say to yourself, OK, I might have to deal with such and such a situation, but it does not matter which one. Time will tell.

You must look at the aspects of course to see if things are tense or not.

I also have nataly mars in the eighth

I am scorp rising and my solar return is in scorpio rising

My solar return is very telling, and explains quite a bit in terms of what is going on in my life right now, right down to certain work situations / people and work environments I have to contend with, also Mr. Taxman came to the fore, I had to deal with IRS, it was not bad per se, but I had to deal with them, and that is not fun

I have noticed eighth house tends to deal with money, possessions, DEBT, (this is a big one) other peoples resources or lack thereof (hence DEBT), mostly other peoples debt, and in my case, death, this has been a recurring theme

I recently heard that my sister has cancer, my brothers cancer is in remission, eighth houses are very life changing, and it toughens you up
