Under-emphasised Air Element

Hello all,
According to my natal chart my Air element is under-emphasised. The only areas where Air Signs appear in my chart are Venus (Libra) and Lilith (Aquarius).

I come from quite an academic family (my father is a professor, my mother, a teacher) so I would be interested to know how I could go about rectifying, or mitigating this apparent lack of intellectualism? The pressure on me to study, or take up an academic vocation, is immense.

However, I usually suffer from an inability to keep up in class and so I'm wary about taking classes abroad, or another university degree (I didn't do too well on my last one, which is why I'm thinking of re-educating) without first being certain of a plan of how to focus myself, and understanding the way my brain acquires information.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Under-emphasised Air Element

The only air placements I have in my chart are Chiron and the N. Node -- both in Libra.

But, I've always loved education, so I'm not sure I would make that a correlation of lack of air placements.

It all depends on what elements are emphasized in your chart. For me, it's fire/water.

Re: Under-emphasised Air Element

My Saturn in Aquarius is a singleton(the only planet in an air sign) but I've never had any issue with academics.

I failed only those few exams that I hadn't studied for either because I didn't feel like or because I hated the subject.

What about house cusps in air signs? Don't you have any planets in the air houses(3rd,7th,11th)?

"Ah!", said the woman as she gazed at the stars. "I see you are the father of two children."

"That's what you think," said the man scornfully. "I'm the father of THREE children.

"The woman grinned and said, "That's what YOU think."

Re: Under-emphasised Air Element

Hi. Yes would be good to see your chart. You know Einstein had only Jupiter in air. i don't think Bertrand Russell had any planets in air at all. There are many accomplished intellectuals who have little or no air in their charts.

But it could be that academia is just not your forte. It can be hard to be the one in the family is predisposed to take a different path, but the pain of not being true to oneself surely outweighs the pain of relinquishing the desire to fulfil family expectations. In any case, perhaps they would soon get over it once they saw you applying yourself to your chosen path.

I'm not sure astrology can provide a definitive answer to your question. If you put your chart up, it might show more about your sensitivity to family pressure than it does about whether or not you can be a successful academic. But anyway, if you'd like to put your chart up I, and I'm sure others too, would have a look at it.

Best wishes

Re: Under-emphasised Air Element

Oh, and just reminded myself: My North Node is in Gemini as well, although I'm told that doesn't influence my personality so much as affect how I should go about making decisions to mov e'up' in the world.

Re: Under-emphasised Air Element

Hi. Chiron's house can be where we feel alienated, and yours is in the 4th house of family background. Its opposite Mercury in the 10th, and the 4th/10th house axis is the parental house axis, reflecting how we experience the parents, along with the Sun and the Moon. So your chart does reflect the sense of not fitting in with the expectations of your parents, and suggests that this is something you'll need to work through as part of unfolding as an individual.

Sun in the 10th is also prone to live out the ambitions of one or both parents, the Scorpio placement of the Sun MC conjunction suggests that you could feel very intensely on some level to any ambitions which your would like to live out through you.

The heavies, Saturn and Pluto in the 9th house of higher education are probably also relevant to the pressure you feel under to achieve something in this area of life.

Your chart suggests that your role in the world will be very important in your discovery and expression of your potential. It also suggests a struggle to find your own path independently of the expectations of your parents.

This is my brief take on your chart, given the information you've shared about your situation. There are of course other things in the chart that I haven't even touched on.

Hope its helpful. Feel free to ask me to elaborate on anything, etc...
