I think there is definitely a chance, although the outcome (for you) may be disappointing. The Moon applies to trine Mercury, yes, but the Moon will be in detriment in Capricorn; not a place of much emotional strength. Mercury is very much interested in...Mercury.

Without meaning to sound like a wet blanket and without knowing your family history, there may be a good reason why your mum doesn't talk about your dad, the least of which could be that he is actually a jerk, and moving up the scale from there to much worse. I didn't see my father for 23 years. I finally made contact with him, only to discover that, actually, I hadn't really been missing much. Sometimes it happens that way.

My eye falled on the Sun Leo intercepted 2nd, opposition Neptune. The question "lost father", hidden in the neck, 2nd house, this that stands there and makes a lamp in the throat as the thing we feel pain and with strong difficulty can talk about it.
You, the Moon, are in the territory of your mother (Jupiter, your ruler and mothers) You are near to pass a border and be in Saturnian territory, in order to meet him. Saturn is a person near your father, linked with him, so it shows a person in good safe condition, Mercury in his placement, where he has the upper hand, and with another family (Saturn). That Capricorn is Moons detriment is that you will not feel well, as the archergirl explained before, and that he will feel nothing, except some sympathy (Mercury in Moons triplicity) which you may not need it so much now...
The straight answer I think to the question is that you will meet him if you pass a border, if you get out of mothers territory. Pluto is in front of moon before moon gets out of Sag. Maybe a fatal fact will lead before you change the territory.
Something beside the point: I noiced that Jupiter is on Ascella and Asc on Sirius an Canopus. Should we say that your mother works with book editions or somethnig resembling, and that you are described as a good reputation person with love in journeys? Maybe it is a silly question, maybe not... Thanks in advance...

To Chris, to come to perfection the trine with mercury the moon would need to be at 3 degrees of capricorn and that also means a change of signs and overcoming the impediment of pluto or going through Pluto. I am not sure what pluto is as it is a modern ruler of fifth house....can anyone add to that? It may imply some sort of transformation and sense it is fifth house a creative transformation? ...I am not sure of what Phact was talking about with that not because they might not be correct but because I am not familiar with what they were saying. Mercury in close connection to venus (intercepted 4th and 1th ) and and saturn (ruler of 7th) might imply he is in a second relationship or has another child possibly female...I am not sure on these either just following the indicators. Anyways it dioes it appear that you will meet but there is an obstacle and some things will have to change in order to meet him. Sagitarious to cap in the same house might imply simply a more serious attitude or serious effort.Cassandra

In order for the trine to perfect, the Moon (you) has to change signs; and when it does, it will be in a greatly weakened position. So the chance to meet is there (applying trine), but it will put you on a weaker standing (Moon in detriment) than you might feel comfortable with. The moon is very affected by being in Capricorn, in horary.
