body modification timing (medical horarists could help here)

hi everyone,

Im feeling dark again, but spoke to a guy last night that i feel can help me physically get past this darkness.....he is a body modificator and I am really considering scarification.......thats gonna gross a few of you out, but it really appeals to me, as it allows for what has been going through my head anyway, but in a controlled and artistic way....

I am trying to work out, when to get it done.....i am wondering whether for starters if it would be a 8th house subject.....I am also wondering if there is a time i shouldnt do it.....I guess my main fear is infection.....can anyone give me some pointers? Please

Hi kylie,

For this type of procedure, which we can equate to a surgery, you would need to time an election chart so that Venus is strongly placed; e.g. on the Ascendant, and not afflicted.

I wouldn't look at the 8th house! No way! You need to look at the *1st* house, since that always rules your appearance, your physical vitality, and your general health. I am assuming you are wanting to do this for ritual as well as aesthetic purposes; but the 1st house is important because you don't want it to be afflicted, at all, during such a procedure. As you have mentioned, infection is a serious concern.

You might also need to look at your natal chart for beneficial or afflicted transits; anything with Mars in the 1st might be helpful, but ONLY if Mars is in a good sign, e.g. strong, in dignity, not retrograde, not afflicted by Saturn.

It's complicated stuff, electional astrology. This isn't really my area; I would be more likely to suggest counselling rather than scarification.

Hopefully some others who are more au fait with this type of astrology will pipe up with some suggestions.

I would agree with archergirl. I do not have much knowledge with electional astrology. Examples are often discussed the FAA journal and I have tended to ignore it in favour of Natal astrology. But reading posts here has been interesting.

But in regard to your thread Kylie like archergirl I would suggest counselling rather than scarification.

We can be searching for resolution to something and feel a change to the outer would resolve but infact its a change within us which our psyche and higher self is seeking us to do.

By this I mean a change to our own personal inner landscape also known as inner work.

This is generally best able to be guided by a counsellor who like Charon of the underworld in Greek Mythology is given a gold coin so he can transport us across the river Styx to the mysterious & hidden parts of our psyche which is there within us all asking for guidance to help us on our journey

thanks ladies,

Im kind of sick of counselling...i always end up just crying and never get any further away from my problems...i end up feeling the victim aswell which doesnt help..the reason i think scarification will help is cos emotional pain is killing me....i think i can handle it being transmuted to physical pain instead, and i kind of feel i will be empowered afterwards....
its a very tribal ritual aswell, and i find we in the west are very removed from being tribal people....with my son being aboriginal, i have had the opportunity to be ritualistically scarred to join my sons fathers mob, but i chose not to.....
I want to check the Quran for anything that says I cant have it done, but think I will defintely will do it in the near future.....

thanks for telling me about the first house archer....i just thought surgery was the 8th......do you think mars would equate with the pain....?
I'm going to play around with some charts...im not cluey on electional either, so if anyone wants to respond later to the chart i find, it wouldnt hurt....

thanks again....I can understand that this seems like the wrong way to go through what is going on for me, but honestly i feel like it is a good answer to my feelings......

Hi kylie,

I don't have a problem with scarification, actually; I have a degree in anthropology, and studied scarification amongst different tribes. The problem is, when you are doing it therapeutically there is a real risk that it will not be enough to 'heal' you. It's similar to cutting oneself in so many ways, except you are having someone else do it to you: a way to physically manifest emotional pain. You will never have enough scars to witness your internal pain; there is not enough skin, and you will never feel better by cutting your skin, because you still haven't dealt with the pain inside; and it will keep coming back and you will keep scarifying yourself.

If you are having trouble getting past the pain, there is a strong chance that you are still clinging to it; has it become such a part of your identity that you can't dis-identify from it? The reason I say this is that people who want to get over emotional pain, do. They find a way, and it usually involves simply coming to terms with the past and letting it go; it doesn't involve cutting, although cutting may be a phase until they actually get down and deal with the real issue. It is that simple, and that difficult.

We all have things we can feel victimized by, if we let ourselves. But the thing is, you have a choice. It is much, much easier in the long run to say, 'These things happened to me, but they are NOT me', than it is to continue holding on to past hurts by saying 'These things happened to me and they ARE me.'. If you look at it from that point of view, holding on to pain is rather silly, and utterly purposeless. Life is only meant to have happiness.

8th house possibly rules surgery, yes, but for an electional chart you want to have a look at how it is going to affect *you* as a person, and how it will affect your general appearance/well being. So the 1st house is more important, IMO.

you know archer, the more I think about it, the more I think it has a lot to do with anger.....people annoy the hall out of me.....i cant change them....i cant change how i see what they do either....I'll end up cutting myself out of plain frustration if i dont do something....
do i just sound like a nutter.....?
I am really keen to experience things within my own body, rather trying to externalize how i feel...you know i even want to get away from telling others how i feel like i am here, but i am not at that point yet....I dunno, i am going around in circles with the way i feel...I want to try something else....I have a few tattoos and piercings and believe it or not, getting them done has all pulled me out of some dark moods....the shock of the pain does something to me....and i have something worthy to show for it....

I think i am going to go for it anyway...I have drawn up a design this morning that i like....I wont need to pay a cent...

If you think that this will work for you and that it will help you, then I'm all for it. People deal with their issues in different ways. Whatever gets you to the light, as they say. I would recommend watching your transits for a good Venus aspect, especially to the 1st house; and make sure your 1st house ruler and Mars aren't afflicted, at the least.

ok...here is the chart....its so hard to do when you dont really know what you are looking for.....but this chart is making the 1st house significator look excellent and its in the 5th...creativity...

dunno, its a long time to leave it, and its the day before the mth of Ramadan, (im not sure what date it supposed to start)....

does anyone think this chart looks ok......I really wish i knew what i was doing here.....

What does this chart do in relation to your natal chart, Kylie? I would be a little worried about Mars in detriment in Libra...but again, this is not a branch of astrology I am especially skilled in. It may be that you have to play around with it a bit. About six months along from your chart, Venus might be in Pisces at the same time Mars is in Scorpio (just a guesstimate); this might be a better time, but again, it depends on transits to your chart, and how long you're willing to wait!

Im going to do it, when it feels right, regardless of the chart

its too hard to work out....I dont honestly know what I am looking for so whats the point? sorry....

I think this type of thing would be better felt out, than planned...
All day I have been thinking about it, and the more I do, I know I can achieve something with this ritual....intention and thanks to the right place is going to work...I feel invigorated the more I think about it....weird huh....I've never thought this way really before.
Might go and take a look whats happening with the transits of the ole natal instead
