summer and winter solstice

well the solstices are approaching...the winter one in oz.....
I know the druids observe the sun rise in England for there rituals, im not sure if that is the 21st or the 22nd though....does anyone know? (my guess is the 21st) I am wondering whether it is the sunset in Australia on the 21st, that is the mark of the winter solstice.....does anyone know that too?.....

cheers

Re: summer and winter solstice

Happy Solstice!, from the UK, but is Oz behind or ahead?! I believe its the 21st June, when the Sun enters Cancer when the Sun is at its highest point, so would that be the lowest point in Australia? Edit: however I've also seen it written that the Solstice begins near June 22nd - baffled.

Lovely idea, to watch the Sun come up, I'll try, I'm not a morning person.

NR, Happy solstice!....you celebrating? I cant follow pagan ritual anymore, but Im riding out the darkness tonight.....I feel so bizarre at present , but ever thankful that the darkness only reaches a pinnacle before the sun starts to return to us....its quite profound to ponder.....

to work out midwinter, I guess i need to work out when the sun sets and rises, and then divide the hours between in two huh?

Re: summer and winter solstice

Thanks Jupiter! No not really celebrating, though I might do a special meditation in the morning.

Interesting thought about darkness. I've found when I stay up until morning, the breaking of dawn is such a beautiful time of day.

Osho cards I found on Google Images - hope its not copyright! I just typed in Osho Zen Going with the flow.
