Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Yes, I know--it's yet another thread about chart rectification
As the title suggests, I am wondering if I can use an upcoming event for chart rectification; I believe it ought to be significant, since this event will impact me for at least one year--possibly longer--and it represents a huge commitment of time and energy.
I created a horary chart a month or two ago asking if I would be elected to a position I have been seeking. The ballots have been sent out, and I am running unopposed, as are three out of five other candidates. I am not usually one to assume, but all of the positions need to be filled, so I am pretty sure I will be elected. The last date to hand in the ballots is June 30, 2008, and the new officers will replace the old officers on July 1, 2008.
I have examined my transits for that day, and it looks like Pluto will be making its second contact with my natal Midheaven. Pluto will be located at 29 Sagittarius 34', so I am wondering if I should rectify my Midheaven to this degree. This would not require a particularly significant change in birth time, which is one of the reasons I am particularly excited about the rectification possibilities of this event.
I understand that outer planets aren't generally desirable for rectification purposes because they move so slowly. However, I was waiting for something big to happen when Pluto first crossed my Midheaven and simultaneously squared my Ascendant, and this event never seemed to come.
There are other things going on in my chart as well on this date, but I am not sure if they can be used for rectification. A particularly _ example is Saturn in Virgo, which will be conjunct my South Node with a fourteen minute orb! My natal nodal axis forms a partile square to Jupiter, so transiting Saturn will simultaneously square this planet with the same tight orb. Mars will be hovering nearby at the critical 29th degree of Leo, which I feel is somewhat ominous--or at the very least, indicative that I am about to activate some serious existing karma. I will have to contemplate this at a later time, but for now, I am primarily interested in how this event may be used--if at all--in chart rectification.
I also find it a bit bizarre that transiting Mercury is conjunct my natal Mars. My natal Mars is sextile my natal Sun-Venus-Mercury conjunction and receives quincunx aspects from my natal Saturn-Neptune conjunction as well as my natal Pluto, so whenever a transiting planet is conjunct Mars, it activates most of the other planets in my natal chart.
Transiting Venus will similarly activate many planets in my natal chart because it is almost exactly squaring my natal Sun-Venus-Mercury conjunction. It will also trine my natal Pluto and oppose my natal Saturn-Neptune conjunction.
I have read that house cusps are primarily used for chart rectifications, so I suppose the contacts transiting planets make with my natal planets are useless for rectification purposes. Pluto conjunct my Midheaven seems the most important to me, the transiting North Node/Chiron conjunction will be conjunct my twelfth house cusp. I am unsure of the significance of this, or if I can use this to rectify my natal chart. Transiting Jupiter is also somewhat near my eleventh house cusp, but it is retrograde, and thus moving away from this cusp.
I was sort of expecting more activity around my ninth house cusp because this event is related with college; it is an academic organization, an honors society. My current chart has my ninth house cusp at 9 Sagittarius 8'; can I use the aspects transiting planets may make to this cusp to rectify my chart, I must I use conjunctions only? Both lumanaries--the Sun and the Moon--are located around 9 degrees in their respective signs, although I suppose the Moon position may be variable since I am currently looking at the positions of the planets at 0:00 UT, which is not necessarily the time I will officially become an officer. In fact, I'm not sure what this time will be, since there is no ceremony to my knowledge. The Sun will only form a quincunx aspect to this cusp, however, which I think is a rather weak aspect to use to rectify the degree of the ninth house cusp. The Moon, although its position is variable, will be opposite the ninth house cusp. This occurs once per the moon's cycle, however, so I don't think it's that extraordinary.
Transiting Mars will be trine my Midheaven. Could I possibly use this aspect?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Arian Maverick

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Dear Arian Maverick,
the best method for rectification I know, is the one with the help of harmonics.
Although I use past events, as you are an aries-trail blazer and you are pretty sure this will happen to you perhaps we can try for a future event too.
I went by the trial and error method"
if we use 6:03 your decimal harmonic chart for July 1st 2008 has the following placements:
ASC: 14 ARIES 6:04=22 aries 6:05=ASc 0d52 taurus
MC 11D52 CAPRICORN /22 capr Mc 0d50 aquarius
MOVABLE MC 12 VIRGO /16 virgo Sun 0d12 aquarius
SUN 0D10 AQUARIOUS /0d11 movable MC 20d43 virgo
MOON 9D57 CANCER /10d9 moon 10d22 cancer
MERCURY 18D4 AQUARIOUS/ 18d5 mercury 18d7 aquarious
VENUS 2D29 AQUARIOUS (the rest planetary placements rest more or less the same)
MARS 9D26 ARIES
JUPITER 6D59 VIRGO
SATURN 27D31 TAURUS
URANUS 16D48 SAG
NEPTUNE 2D22 TAURUS
PLUTO 0D7 ARIES
POF 19D48 SAG/ 28d25 sag pof 7d1 capricorn
NN 12D27 CAPR.
the most powerful aspects being the most exact ones are the sextile between sun-pluto
the moon-mars square
the venus - neptune square
seeing the degrees of sun and pluto forming a sextile and a conjunction respectively to your Asc but in half a degree earlier than your 1d10 aries asc
in a parallel list above I used your time 6:04, I wrote down only the major changes.
After that I used as your birthtime 6:05, see above, and to me is eureka since the sun in your harmonic chart for the 1st of july 2008 culminates in your tenth squaring an angular neptune in the 1st, forming a sextile to pluto upon the 12th house cusp and a trine to saturn on the 2nd house cusp. There is the asc sign change denoting the change in your situation and the lord of your asc =taurus is conjunct the sun in the tenth.
Sorry, I would like to post here the charts but it is a bit difficult since I cast them in another PC., where I keep my astrological program.
You see my dear friend the Harmonics change by the minute and if we put another minute of birthtime we take major changes in the ASC mostly in our harmonic charts. That is the reason why is a great tool for rectifying charts.
See the "New astrology forum of Dymock Brose" the great Australian astrologer- to my humble opinion- he does the rectification using this method of the late Steve Irwin.
Check for yourself
Good luck !

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Wow, thank you for this information, Jupiter! I've been researching rectification techniques for a few months now, but I've never come across this one. Would you recommend any other sites or books I could use to learn more about this technique?
I'm a bit surprised that my time of birth moved forwards instead of backwards, since I assumed that most nurses attend to the infant before recording the time of birth. However, I believe several events should be used for rectification, so I will try to learn this method and apply the technique you have demonstrated here to different charts.
Do you know what types of events tend to work best--for example, the death of a loved one, graduations, the first day one began a new job, etc.? I don't know if these events can be used for rectification, but I also have recorded the date I registered to the forums and the date I became moderator. I have also been entertaining the idea of using the date I discovered that I had been using the incorrect time of birth for the past six months of my astrological studies; that was certainly a shocker, and it caused me to change my user name from Aquarian Maverick to Arian Maverick.
Again, thank you for all of your help!
EDIT: I was reading through the article VERIFYING A BIRTH TIME Steve Irwin and came across this excerpt, which better explains what I was trying to express.
Quote:
|
However, I found that 1:00 am, the time given by Irwin, proved to be nearly correct—just three minutes out. How often does one find a recorded birth time to be three minutes later than the actual time of birth determined with Age Harmonics! It is as if the final minutes of a birth are so filled with urgent procedures that the nurse or doctor is too engaged to observe the time of the cutting of the cord or the first breath. Still larger margins of error apply when the birth is not normal but complicated through abnormal delivery, caesarean section, etc.
|
The reason why I am particularly interested in chart rectification is not because I believe my recorded time of birth to be grossly inaccurate--it is because my recorded time of birth gives me angles that are on the cusp between two signs, and my Ascendant in particular is on the cusp between two signs of fast ascension in the Northern Hemisphere in which I was born. I find it synchronistic that the author mentions three minutes, because if I had been born precisely three minutes earlier than my recorded time of birth, the signs on all of my angles would change, and I would have a late Pisces Ascendant. I am somewhat biased in this regard, because when I discovered that my "correct" natal chart bestowed me with an Aries Ascendant, I immediately felt that this was wrong. I have attempted to determine my correct Ascendant through various rectification means, including the Tritune of Hermes and the Animodar Method of Rectification, and I have also used descriptions of physical appearance to attempt to distinguish between a Pisces Ascendant and an Aries Ascendant. I have the Moon conjunct my Ascendant, which has greatly altered my physical appearance from the typical one associated with Aries, so it has been difficult for me to determine which traits may be associated with the Moon and which traits--if any--may be associated with a Pisces Ascendant.
It's not the greatest, but I submitted the most recent picture I had of myself to Astrofaces a year ago and e-mailed the Webmaster about my predicament--that I had checked that I had an Aries Ascendant because this is the Ascendant given to me with my recorded time of birth, but if this time of birth was inaccurate by three minutes or more, I would have a late Pisces Ascendant. He agreed that, based upon the picture, I most likely have a Pisces Ascendant.
I also believe it to be synchronistic that Steve Irwin's time of birth had the exact predicament; the 1 AM time time produced a chart with a Capricorn Ascendant, which as the author explains,
Quote:
|
It is hardly conceivable that a man with his ebullient, extrovert and ever active nature could be born under this reserved, conventional and quietly dignified Sign. It is very much at odds with what we know about Irwin. He was a man of action, a pioneer in his field, passionately dedicated to the protection of wild life creatures, and the preservation of their natural habitat. He lived alone in a remote part of Australia for two years trapping and protecting wild creatures. All the animals, large and small that he trapped, from crocodiles to snakes and small mammals, were transported to the safety of the Australia Zoo which he founded and financed. At huge expense to himself he bought up large tracts of wilderness land to preserve the habitats of the animals he loved. He achieved great fame and support for his ideals and activities both in Australia and the USA, mainly through the medium of television.
|
I also found this exerpt interesting:
Quote:
|
I had no hesitation in accepting the last few minutes of Sagittarius as I have found that those born either at the very end or very beginning of a Sign exhibit its nature more strongly than those born in the intermediate degrees.

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Dear Arian,
You are so welcome,
You are right about the nurses and the backwards time issue, and truly I understand your need to rectify your chart or at least to try to be sure about it, since you were born at such an early aries degree.
What I wish you is to avoid the 29degrees of Pisces =Scheat.
I'm not sure though about the results above- after all I just moved your time a minute- but I'm absolutely convinced that the harmonics is the best method to rectify your birth time.
As you were able to see for yourself, the Ascendant and as a consequence the house cusps and POF are very much influenced by a time difference of just one minute.
I don't see such a dramatic change in any other method(Progressions, solar/lunar/venusian/mercurial or other planetary returns etc)
I don't know if you have any programs that can perform decimal harmonics for you. I was lucky to have astro.calc. I wasn't able to find this in astro.com free chart calculation or in any other site.......yet.
But I 'm completely thrilled and grateful that the site of Mr. Dymock Brose exists. I totally recommend it. Check for yourself.
And you are right my friend, you need "strong" events in your life to help You rectify your chart, such as the death of a parent, a marriage, a relocation, an operation, a fateful meeting with a significant other or a separation/break-up, a birth to the family etc.
However, as you already know (I envy You for your Pluto in the 8th),
each one of us sees reality through his own eyes. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" Perhaps, a break-up had cost me more than a death and in a way it might be easier to use this break up chart to rectify my natal........
Just take some time and go to "New Astrology Forum by Dymock Brose" to Instalment 22, there you will see in process the rectification of Steve Irwin and I'm sure with Your background in astrology etc, You will be able to see for Yourself what I only recently-sadly enough- I have discovered.
OK, this is synchronistic for sure, while you were writing to me I was writing to You trying to make You read the article You were already reading.
Ok, if you feel that you want to, you can sent to me - perhaps in a private message- two major event dates in your life and I can try to show to You the effectiveness of this method.
I had already understood Your misgivings about your birthtime
Good luck.
Tell me your opinion........

I've read about this unfortunate fixed star; according to Pisces Individual Degrees, it is of the nature of Mars and Mercury and indicates "Extreme misfortune; suicide, drowning, perhaps murder." Theta Piscium, which is about a degree later, is of the nature of Saturn and Mercury and is said to be "a fatalistic influence."
I've devoured almost all of the articles related to Age Harmonics, including THE WONDER OF AGE HARMONICS, AGE HARMONICS DECIDE BETWEEN ALTERNATE BIRTH TIMES, THE PRECISION OF AGE HARMONICS, RECTIFICATION OF CHARTS From Unknown Birth Times, and ASTROLOGICAL TECHNIQUES EXPLAINED. The last article has probably been the most helpful because now I understand how the technique works, yet I am still in something of a predicament because I cannot find a program that will do these calculations for me. It's not necessarily the calculations I find daunting, but rather, the creation of a new chart. I really don't like drawing up charts, but I suppose I'll have to "suck it up"
Here's another synchronicity: the first production of The New Astrology Forum was on my seventeenth birthday, which, if I remeber correctly, was the day and year I became the first moderator of the forums.

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Dear Arian,
Glad You found Dymock's site interesting...
I can do it for You, let me show you the magic of harmonics,
Give some important dates of your life and I will cast the charts for 6:03,6:04,6:05,6:06,6:07 and let You decide the most representative one for each event.
You will be stunned how revealing this method is!!!!

I've sent you a personal message with a lot of dates; you can post some of the charts here to demonstrate, but I didn't want to post a chronology of my life here
Thanks again; I'm so excited, I can barely sit still!

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
For anyone who may also be attempting to calculate Age Harmonic charts as I am, I found a useful page on the Tyl Discussion Forum: Daily Age Harmonics. Here's an excerpt containing instructions:
Quote:
Any astrology program that has a Harmonic section and can calculate using decimal points can also be used - though it is a little more complicated as you need to work out the exact date as follows:
Using a calculator take the following steps.
Note the Julian Day of the event (can be found in the Ephemeris on bottom right hand corner and adjusted to the exact day)
Note the Julian Day of your birth
Take away the Julian Day of your birth from the Julian Day of the event.
Divide this sum by 365.24220461 (the days in a tropical year)
This will give you a figure that is your Daily Age Harmonic for the event.
Enter this figure into the Harmonic section of your astrology program. and click OK
Your Daily Age Harmonic chart for that event will appear.
|
If you're having trouble calculating the Julian Day, use a Julian Date Calculator.
I'm going to try to follow these directions to get the Daily Age Harmonic for the day my grandmother died.
Julian Day of Event: 2451596.5
Julian Day of Birth: 2447621.5
Julian Day of Event - Julian Day of Birth: 2451596.5 - 2447621.5 = 3975
Sum Divided By 365.24220461: 3975 / 365.24220461 = 10.88318915456236436388648486534

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Hi Arian and Jupiter. Thanks for starting this thread as I had just come on the site to look for rectification methods to use on my own chart and found this just posted (synchronicity at work?). My birth time is 8.45 pm so I always wondered whether it is so exactly on the quarter hour or if it was a minute or two before or after. I wanted to find the exact time as I've heard it is essential for primary directions.
Anyway, I had a go as described using the julian day calculator (thanks Arian!) and the results were quite amazing.
Two of the event dates I entered gave relevant planets within 2mins each side of my natal MC. My natal MC is 29.04 Pisces. One of the events which related to my mother's sudden ill health had Uranus conjunct the harmonic MC by 6 degrees (in the 10th house) and at 29.06 scorpio trined my natal MC at 29.04 Pisces.
Another event was the birth of my daughter where the nodes were at 29.02 cancer, again 2 mins from trining natal MC.
Therefore, I'm beginning to think my birth time is quite accurate, although I haven't found any events with aspects exactly to my ascendant, they're always a degree or two off before or after. Is this OK?
From my description of the aspects to my MC, do you agree that my birth time is probably correct or should I still try other birth times of a minute or two earlier and later, would it make a big difference?

Yes, I recommend that you try charts a minute or two before and after your recorded time of birth to see the huge difference in house placements. If you still see that the 8:45 PM chart yeilds the best results, you can start experimenting with seconds.
Good luck!

OK I'll try it! Seconds??? - I've got a feeling this is going to take me a very very long time, but worth it in the end I'm sure. I'll let you know how I get on.

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
Thanks so much Arian for posting this!
I gave a shot too, but because the figure is long, the program showed run time error...it can calculate only a certain amount of digits hehe !
Anyway, I would like to ask something else. I had an epiphany about an event which happened a few years ago and fortunately I remember the exact day and almost the time it happened and I am in thoughts whether it can provide useful information about my ascendant. It's something that has being bugging me for a long time.
So, here's my question: Can a conjunction between the 6th House cusp, a transiting Uranus & a progressed Part of Fortune (all of them in Pisces) generally speaking be indicative of getting/acquring a pet? The pet was brought home by my brother (oddly enough he is Pisces too...I don't think it has anything to do with this...but it's odd ). It's the second pet we have but we don't have them in the same house...Sorry, for writing all these tiring details but with Mercury Retro...I wanted to be in the safe side!
Perhaps, there are other aspects which are connected with having a pet or something else in my chart. I thought of posting my charts (natal, transits and progressed), but Arian has already done a lot helping me with my ascendant and honestly I don't want to impose again with my chart.
Of course, if I haven't explained something correctly...I don't have a problem giving you my data!
I just thought that because 6th House is associated with pets....perhaps the combination of the above aspects are connected with this event...and finally with my exact ascendant.
I would appreciate any of your thoughts or ideas about this! Thank you in advance!
Edited because I realised that the Part of Fortune was wrong...grr...it's in 11 Gem 32'...my astro program calculated it with the day time formula....I hope this hasn't ruined everything!

I had the same problem with my astrology program, but fortunately, I was able to compute perhaps half of the digits after the decimal point, and there were quite a few. I rounded up to the nearest digit at the point that it was cut off, and the rounding did not seem to make a huge difference in the chart. Of course, my sixth house Virgo South Node would have much prefered to work with an exact chart, but this will have to do for now.

I'm getting a bit confused; are you referring to transits, progressions, Age-Harmonics, or all of the above? I believe we have mostly been referring to Age-Harmonics here. I should probably change the title of the thread to avoid further confusion, or possibly transfer posts over to a new thread...
I'm not sure if bringing home a pet is a significant enough event to use for chart rectification, although pets can certainly play a significant role in our lives. I'd use the birth of children and the deaths of family members before anything involving pets, although I will admit that I too remember the dates my ferret and the family dog died. It's always interesting to look at these charts, and in the case of my dog, Saturn was transiting my sixth house, but I haven't used this event for rectification.
Generally, the sixth house is used for pets; the twelfth house is used for large beasts, but most dogs I am aware of are not the size of horses

Re: Can This Event Be Used For Rectification?
I am so sorry for writing this in this thread...you were talking about transits and events and finding an ascendant and I thought I could ask here my question...since it had to do with chart rectification.
I couldn't use the daily age harmonic because of the problem I wrote about above...and then I had an idea about the particular event I described and my ascendant without using this technique.
There's no need to change title or move it to a different thread. I was simply out of topic .
Edited because I just saw the last paragraph...I just wondered if a conjunction between transiting uranus and a 6th House cusp means getting a pet...I understand that this event alone doesn't help in rectifying a chart.
