Yay Earth Sign! Those are fabulous!

hey, listening to Tim Buckley, had me remembering his son, Jeff...

Wow! I saw him live (way back in 1995...ah!) and his voice is simply beautiful.

This is a live performance of "Lilac Wine"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yo3M2Z0tD0&feature=related

and "Last Goodbye"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g74csZ-wBSU&feature=relmfu

and covering Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman"

Sorry... I can get carried away too!! I could go on forever...

Sorry for the delay. Ah yes, Jeff Buckley. Personally, I've always found the two incomparable. Jeff's voice seemed to convey such emotion and intimacy, a lot of his soul comes out of his vocal control and dedication to every note.

Tim, on the other hand, was much more fire. Most of his influence came from free jazz music, and he was more akin to improvisation and exhibiting his criminal range. He messed up more, but it mattered less, heh.

They both had utterly magnificent, utterly different voices. It's regrettable that Jeff has such a limited supply of music. I think he could have branched out. He had too much talent to stick to pop music. In my opinion, he could have done well in soul.

Beautiful track choices, by the way, I hadn't heard a lot of those.

Here's another recently found Fred Neil track that I can't seem to get out of my mind.

Okay, one more. Another recent find. Vince Martin was Fred Neil's performance partner in the 60's. He never recorded very much music, unfortunately. This song is too pretty to not be heard.

Oh Tim Buckley, you are beautiful...just one more...this song is divine:

"Song to the Siren"

...and this version, by This Mortal Coil, which is probably the one most people would know:

There are actually a lot of covers of this song out there, but I can't put them all up! Ha! Even one by Robert Plant.

I agree with you, Earth Sign, I don't think Jeff ever got to reach his full potential. He had a truly angelic voice, and I think he eventually would have done a lot more with it...so sad...

Interesting to note that Liz Fraser, who sings the This Mortal Coil version, had a brief relationship with Jeff Buckley just before he drowned...

These and the others I posted last by Widespreadpanic is some of the finest audio visual quality I've ever encountered.
A multi-talented and cross over styles of some rather eclectic mixing going on...
mykinda band... I do like their Southern Country/Rock edge... but they do some nice sorta 'Backwoods Jazz' pieces along with too many other genres to mention...
