Passive Aggression

Which placements, influences, and configurations can suggest passive-aggressive behavior? Does anyone have a few details of a passive aggressive person's chart to share?

I think it has to do with a bad connection between Mars, Neptune, and maybe Saturn.

Connections with pluto may also work on that because, passive aggression most of the time is planned. And people with strong-bad connections of pluto tend to plan their attacks, for doing them in a discrete, but acid way.

A Libra Mars is like a slow burning, inactive but seething volcano of massive destruction. lol!

Mars isn't "home" in Libra, it's home in Aries - the exact opposite of Libra.

Some characteristics I have with this placement are:

Choosing battles carefully or wisely.
Detest arguing over BS and nonsense that doesn't even matter, triviality.
Arguing with someone who doesn't matter to me.
Ability to ignore situations that are not deemed "worthy" of my anger.
If I care about someone and something they've done is bothering me, I weigh all possible angles, maybe they didn't mean it - I tell them really calmly what my issue is (even if I'm angry as hell), and just see what they have to say.
If I see they start getting angry, I tell them to chill and we'll talk later

The positive side of Mars in Libra is someone who roots for the underdog, is not argumentative, weighs every side to an issue, thinks before acting, wants to compromise instead of "winning", doesn't have much of a temper, puts others first

and that's only the good stuff ...

And now the not-so good stuff - the stuff you were asking about ;)

The negative side is yes, because of all this underlying unexpressed anger, they can be very passive aggressive, can bottle their anger or anything that isn't pleasant for a loooong time, run from conflict, not see that they can be wrong. If something is perceived as "unjust" to them - something that hurts them, they are literally plotting that person's demise :ninja:. Mars in Libra can dream up ways to take back the "fairness" and make things seem right again but hardly act on it quickly. If really angry - and they get to that threshold, they can blow up like a :w00t: volcano.

it depends on the person as to which side they express. it also depends on the aspects mars makes, its house position, the position of venus (mars ruler here), as well as the rest of the chart.

My mars is almost in Libra... 29 of virgo

I have much of that characteristics:surprised:

I stick my hand up as a mostly unconscious passive agressive person. My mars is in pisces in the 3rd at the apex of a tsquare involving saturn-mars-neptune. My mars also recieves squares from the ascendant - descendant axis, jupiter and moon. So this gives no straight outlet for self assertion.
I think mars in pisces in general has a reputation for passive agression.

Mars square Uranus (explosive anger) in predominantly watery chart where the person prefers to keep the peace = passive aggression and bottling up anger

I know a person who is an Aries sun, Libra rising, with many planets in Pisces (Mars, Mercury, Venus). She is passive-agressive, as the combination could mean this person likes to be sociable, diplomatic, keep the peace, etc., but her Aries sun could mean a tendency to agression. She also does sudden personality flip-flops in which she can be the charming sweet social butterfly one moment, and then some small thing angers her, so she flies into a rage, slamming doors, cursing people out, throwing things at you, etc.

i think saturn in aries and moon in libra can be passive aggressive. mars oppositions and an afflicted libra may also make one passive aggressive.

I will admit that I have pretty strong tendencies toward passive aggression. I'm working really hard to overcome this flaw, but awareness is the first step  I have Mars in Cancer in 9th, within a few minutes of being directly opposite Neptune in Capricorn in 3rd, which is within a degree and a half of being conjunct Saturn. Saturn, in turn, is sextile (with an accuracy to the second) to my Pluto in Scorpio in 1st, which is widely conjunct my Moon just over 6 degrees away (also in Scorpio in the 1st). Pluto and my Moon then being trine my Mars.

Combine this with a Libra Ascendant (and no fire in my chart!), and it's very difficult to assert myself directly. But I've been learning how. I catch myself being too concerned with how my actions will be perceived by others, or trying to figure out what others prefer for me to do, that I can lose sight of what I think or want.

Well, this subject (passive-agressiveness) is like pornography in this way: it's hard to actually describe, but I know it when I see it (in a chart.)
PASSIVE aggressive people are uncomfortable with actual aggression- so probably Taurus rising, Scorpio rising, Pisces rising.....etc. Real aggression is a major flaw (unless one is defending onesself or one's country). Assertiveness is much to be desired.
Passive Aggression is manipulative and therefore not straightforward.
Assertiveness is intellectual. Passive-Agressiveness is phychological. Aggressiveness is physical.
When you look at a chart and see the balance or lack of regarding these energies, you can usually see if someone leans toward passive aggressiveness in their dealings.

I am a Pisces Rising (with Cancer Sun and Scorpio Moon). My Mars is in Aquarius, intercepted and in the 12th house and squares my Neptune (8th house, Sag). I am definitely no stranger to passive aggression. Having said that, I think I've really been working on healthy assertiveness skills lately... perhaps going slightly overboard, or perhaps it feels like that because I just have not been this assertive before. Feels pretty 'new' to me.

I wouldn't call that passive aggressive. That I would call bottling it up and then going mad.

Passive-aggressive could be a whole lot more underhand about it, letting down, sabotaging or not supporting the person with with they are angry. Or being indirect with their anger by the things they say or fail to say, that somehow drop another person into it.

I knew someone with a 12th House Mars who was a bit like that, for example.

Mars in Libra does know how to play the devil's advocate IMO, that's for sure

Having my moon in aries I am the exact opposite to passive aggression!!! I love confrontation and just getting it over with.

Many of my friends who are passive aggressive often have north node in aries, which means that self assertion is a life long lesson to master. Many of them also have Libra sun or moon (or both combined!) which can make it rather challenging. My hopes and prayers for everyone to master their life path lessons.

Cancer sun, capricorn moon, asc in scorpio, I have been told I get all dark and silent, retreat until I figure out how to handle the situation. Fustrates my husband to no end since he is an aries type and wants confrontation

Dark and silent does not necessarily equal passive aggression, though. Passive aggressive behaviour has an element of manipulation in it.

I can vouch for this astute observation. I have NN in Aries, 2nd and Mars in Libra/Sag Sun. Anyway, yes, I'm very passive-aggressive and that's my lesson. Can you hold classes on unleashing? I'd be your first student.
