Yod's and their effect on your life

Hey I just wanted to start a thread about yod's because there isn't a whole lot of info out there about them that I can find and I happen to have one in my chart. From other peoples experience how does this effect you?

The 'Yod' (also called the finger of god) involves 3 planets, 2 in sextile to each other and quincunx to a third. The quincunx demands a change of attitude, a change of habit pattern and a need to adjust.
The planet receiving the 2 quincunxes becomes the focal point, and that's where the action is. The 'need to act' will arise through the focal point or finger, whereas the opportunity to act lies in the two planets that are sextile to each other.
The problem with the Yod is that it can produce undisciplined thinking. But the finger will force the individual into some sort of action.
Very text bookish I know, but that is what I know.

I believe each inconjunct needs to be studied individually before attempting to interpret the meaning of a specific YOD. The way out of the puzzle is supposed to be represented by the sextile involved, because the sextile is the aspect of opportunity.
But the inconjuncts are aspects of maladjustment. The two planetary energies involved just don't get along...they are incompatible and won't work together.

It takes time to figure these out, and only positive transits from the outer planets bring some respite and ease to these stressed out areas of the chart.

Don't try to understand these all at once.

Have you tried the newly upgraded search function? There's actually quite a bit of info on Yods on this site and the intraweb in general...

I liken a yod to an itch that needs scratching. Until you figure out what the yod asks of you, you may feel a little lost or a need to do something. That's when the search begins and well, if you're keen, you'll end up here looking for info on them!

Thanks for that little tidbit there, Lin! I've always read that the way to understand the Yod and what it requires of you is to approach the Apex. After all, that's why it's called the finger of god... it's pointing to something.

However, the sextile is surely important as well in that the native tends to stay in this easy aspect versus engaging the more difficult apex. I know I'm sounding as if we have a choice in how to respond to the yod in an intellectual way and I suppose for me, that's how I have to look at it to understand it... Majority Air element here. Gemini Moon and Merc in Scorp... sigh, quincunx each other as well...

the finger of GOD points to the contentious area of strife. The sextile allows you to work on the individual issues represented by the inconjuncts. this is a very subject process.
