Islamic Republic of Iran

Does anybody know the chart of modern Iran? I thought it might be worthy of discussion.

In this thread

http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum...highlight=Iran

the chart of Iran was said to be based when Khomeini returned to Iran, Feb 1st 1979, 9:30 am Tehran.

But this wikipedia page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_Revolution

states that the Republic became official on April 1st 1979 when the referendum was held and the people overwhelmingly voted in favour of an Islamic Republic.

Intuition favours me to the second date, but I don't know if there is an astrological consensus on this, or if better mundane astrologers would want to comment. Before we might discuss Iran maybe it is better we pick a chart so we're all singing from the same hymn sheet. And I want to sing!

Re: Islamic Republic of Iran

Hi, my first post!

I'm from Iran (Persia, or whatever you might call it). I have also been interested in knowing my country's chart and although I'm kind of a novice in astrology, from what I've learned Iran has been historically recognized as a Taurus country but there are aqua and aries influences as well. I'm not that good in guessing but i would say Taurus sun with aqua rising.

For the post revolution chart i believe the second date (referendum) is more valid. When khomeini returned in Feb 1st the bakhtiar government (last prime minister of the shah) was still in power. It wasn't until Feb 11th that the revolutionaries declared victory.

cheers

Re: Islamic Republic of Iran

Hi Cyclone,

I'm very honoured to meet you as I am increasingly interested in Iran or Persia (whatever you want to call it, its your country!) I'm even thinking about learning farsi/ persian / iranian as I speak alot of Punjabi and have noticed many similarities in diction between the two languages.

Anyway back to the charts: I guess there are two ways of looking at it. The first is the generic sign label we put because we think it fits. The same type of astrology that associates Italy with Leo, India with Capricorn, Japan with Libra etc. And I'm glad you said Taurus because I have always associated Iran with Taurus too, the beauty, the culture, the endurance since the Sassanids and before.

The second is the trend for more exacting charts of events. Do you know what time the results were declared on April 1st? That would be our base for the current geo-political entity, even though Iran actually stretches back much further.

Re: Islamic Republic of Iran

Hi Sundance,

I have to say the honor is all mine. I know India and Persia have a lot in common culturally and as you mentioned the languages also share a lot of vocabulary and diction.

About the labeling, again you're right. I wasn't referring to any charts when i said Taurus and it's just a general thing; you know just from the symbols and the way the people behave, the culture, etc.

And for the exact time of the April fool's day referendum (lol!) I'm going to do some research and i will let you know just as soon as i get my hands on some reliable info.

Oh by the way I'll be willing to help you with farsi in return for you teaching me some Punjabi! sounds like a good deal right? With the abundance of Virgo and house III influences in my chart i must admit i'm not bad at languages!

Re: Islamic Republic of Iran

I saw the name of this thread and I had to look, since i'm iranian as well .

I'm just wondering is it possible to see from the chart if there's ever going to be freedom and democracy in Iran?? I'm REALLY curious about this.

(You should start studying farsi, Sundance Kid. You'll enjoy it since it's not that hard and you'll be able to read a lot of famous Persian poetry. Have you ever heard of Hafez or Roemi?)

Salam Styx!

It's good to know there are other Iranians here as well. I also wish to see the day my country is free and prosperous. Thanks for participating in this thread.
I guess you're not currently residing in Iran, am I right?

Salam Cyclone ,

I'm also very happy to see that there's another Iranian on this board! It's good to know other Iranians are interested in astrology as well.
Yes, you're right about that, sadly I don't live in my country anymore. I live in Europe at the moment.
What about you? Do live in Iran?

Deal!

I've bought a book about Indian history from Persian sources. I'm also trying to understand some Sufi poetry, so I will read whatever you want me to. I've found some verses from the Indian poet Khusro, and Kabir and Farid, which I think are in Farsi and Punjabi, and I loved them, so would love to understand the language better.

I've been watching some documentaries on Iranian history, and alot of the time I've recognised some of the Iranian words, but only the depressing ones:

Yudh, Mushkil, Dushman, Naksha, Hukham,

And some more religious or political ones:

Darbar, Shah, Shah'n'shah, Ishq, Shaheed, 'Awal Allah Noor Upaya'

Is Qawali an Iranian thing or an Indian thing? I'm falling in love with certain pieces, mainly by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Anyway, let me know if you find out any reliable chart information! On a more astrological note, to stop this from being moved to another board, I wanted to say that we would be looking for heavy Pluto transits in the past few years for the Nuclear issues, heavy war related ones for the whole 1980s, which would make the 1990s relatively prosperous. I also think that politically Iran appears rather stable at least in terms of internal politics- it is not anarchy.

Salaam (?)

Re: Islamic Republic of Iran

It's not Anarchy, yet it's not communism, yet it's not a Republic either. I'm not sure what you call Iran. It has school-like rules regulated like FEDERAL law.(Such as strict dress code). So in that way, I guess it's leaning communistic.

Edit: Here is Iran's chart.

Important things to note:

Venus-Neptune Conjunction in 9th house Saggitarius. Neptune is the planet of illusions, visions, etc. Also of faith and religion. To see her here in the 9th house is fitting for Iran. But Saggitarius(Ruler:Jupiter) is not. However, the placement is fitting Neptune(Religion, Vision) onto Venus(Ruler of looks and women).

Further tieing into that, is Saturn inside the Sixth House of Public Work(and ruler of the MH and Aquarius Sun) is opposite Venus-Neptune conjunction. So there is a strong perception against the looks of a woman.

Moon-Jupiter-Mercury Bi-Sextile:

Mercury(Higher plane/thoughts)-Moon(Emotions/also Women)-Jupiter(Expansion).

This could be, after the US Installed Shah in 1954, the People's Emotions expanding to a high enough philosophy to create the Republic. I can't see it any other way. Giving Mercury in 11th, Moon in 1st, and Jupiter in 5th.

It could also be that Iran is very accepting of other religions/peoiple(Jupiter/Mercury in the 5th/1th axis).

If Iran is indeed supporting Hamas, it is likely an activation of Iran's Sun/Mars conjunction in the 11th house of social friendships. Not even the treehugging US to Israel has such a conjunction.

Incidentially, Jupiter also opposes this conjunction in 11th. I can read this as saying that the action is determinal to the growth of the Republic.

Pluto-Trine Neptune: The 7th house in Mudane Astrology may very well be the House of War. If that is the case, then Pluto(Power) is recieving energies from Neptune's vision(In the 9th house of foreign arries). As they say in Iran. "Death to America".

NOTE: In Iran "Death" is to "dang" in America, if our Press were to ever report that, the hatred of Iran would seize entirely .

Pluto-Trine Sun: In conclusion, I think I understand Iran alot better by reading his chart. The Sun is the personality, the soul so to speak of the person. Inside the 11th house of friendship trining the 7th house of war. Iran's Prime Minister has said he seeks a democracy inside of Israel. See my revealing Israel's non-democratic ways in her chart.

I think that the names "Iran", "Iraq" and "Israel" are interesting to me. It wouldn't surprise me, if infact astrologically these countries have some kind of sibling ties. And if so, could Iran be the bigger brother trying to help it's fellow countries? The 11th house stellium and Sun suggests this possibility.

Re: Islamic Republic of Iran

Sorry CF, I didn't reply as I was waiting to see if Cyclone had any more information on other potential charts.

That way when we have several charts we can compare and pick. I find it hard to read charts of countries as it is, and think I could better understand these things by comparing charts to see why one is more appropriate than the other.

In light of this morning's revelations regarding Iran's hidden nuclear facility, readers might be interested in a blog I posted Wednesday night about Ahmadinejad's U.N. Speech and Iranian history relative to Saturn's ingress transit to Libra over the course of the past two centuries.

In light of recent events, readers will definitely be interested in a blog titled Venus and the Iran Suicide Bombing relative to transits to the horoscope of Iran.
