progressed sun conjunct ascendant

In the past I have focused on natal and transits but recently decided to look into progressions. I was amazed by what I found.

For the last month or two I have been very introspective and realized that I have been "hiding" who I am from others and have been living is somewhat of a self imposed isolation. I do socalize but don't really "connect" much with others. I have been this way for a long time but never really realized it. I have also been very drawn to my spiritual and personal growth recently.

When I looked at my progressions I found that my progressed sun is in my 12th house about 2 degrees from my ascendant. I think I am starting to feel the pull of the first house. My progressed sun has been in the 12th house since I was a young child.

Has anyone else experienced this who is willing to share?
Do you believe in critical degrees in the houses? It seems like I am feeling strong effects on my personality and self expression from both the 12th and 1st houses right now.

What you describe is absolutely classic. Especially if you have natal aspects to back it up.

I have had Neptune in the 12th for many years and I spent a lot of time alone and it was the time that I retired from the workforce and I was feeling out of it all......I studied mystical subjects, took notice of my visions and my psychic feelings more. As the 12th is also our aunts and uncles, i.e. father's siblings, I lost an aunt in mysterious circumstances.

It is basically the retreat, retire and rehabilitate house and how we spend our time alone and in introspection.

The strength of the 12th house is usually caused by the presence of Neptune there, or its aspects to the ruler of that house. I also have my progressed Sun 2 degrees apart from the Asc., and what you are going through and the effects on the personality and self expression is identical, it is somehow like the tide and waves, and that will keep on.
As for the critical degrees, they work as known to everybody and their effect may become more felt or intensified if they happen to fall on the cusp of a house.

Wow i am just stumbling onto this myself. I have aries sun in twelfth house my entire life and by progression it is just a few degrees away. I am finding myself separatig and seeing unhealthy blured boundary friendships and situations where i have not really been connecting to now moving to the more concrete mind and a new found sense of sober reality but where i can stand on my own. Situations forcing me to question friendships, habits and patterns have led me here.
