Question regarding birth place and natal chart.

Okay, when making your natal chart you are almost always asked for your birth location. Now what I'm wondering is this simply because it wants to know the time zone to more accurate find when you were born, or does it really make a difference where you born. Like say, if two people were born at the exact same moment, but one was born in china and the other was born in california, would their charts be different or the same?

The position of the planets in signs remains the same. The Ascendant and house cusps would differ - resulting in a different interpretation for the two charts. So, lattitude/longitude/timezone adjustments are made to draw each chart as if the birth had been in London UK rather than California or China.

Most astrology software uses the longitude/lattitude of the place location and the timezone to calculate the Ascendant/house cusps automatically - including any adjustments required for births in the Southern hemisphere :-
