Astrology of Fame

Just thinking about this last night, how fame and the fans of a famous person and the famous person almost live in this illusion. Fans are in love the image and trappings of fame that a famous person through themselves or record companies are able to generate and the famous maybe through thinking that they have almighty powers or just seem to want to live in the same moment all their lives (just think of for example Mick Jagger, who doesn't seem to want to grow up and is pretty much doing the same thing now as he did when he was 25).

Then, comes the sadness that when time goes by, that the famous person ages and the image of say beauty of the famous wanes.

What is the astrology of this? What determines a person becoming famous and what are the stars saying at the peak of their fame and their wane?

Natally, I can only think that something like maybe a 10th house focus comes into play, along with maybe a pluto aspect of some sort and neptune for the "illusion". But then again, I've noticed a lot of actors commonly have their sun in the 1st house with the asc being in the same sign.

When does fame happen? Pluto/Neptune aspects again? Simon le Bon's chart states that at the pinnacle of his/Duran's fame, pluto and saturn were passing over his Sco stellium (which inc sun)

And what happens when it wanes? Is it just a loss of a long and positive transit?

My thoughts......
I can't explain this out as far as astrological transits, but I believe every experience a person has is for a reason -- and this includes those who become famous. There is a bigger meaning for them becoming famous - maybe something they need to contribute and the rest of the world needs or something they need to learn from the experience of fame - and probably both. When the period of fame ends, there is something for that person to learn, and probably that it is time for a different chapter of their life. I think people who don't deal with loss of fame/change have problems because their sense of who they are/self-worth has gotten tied up with the fame/ their talents/ whatever made them famous.

True, it is a learning curve for them and an experience they must live. Its just funny how the rest of us also are there as part of that learning curve!

It's definitely a Leo/Aquarius thing, huh? The Star(Leo) shining for the audience (Aquarius). My own opinion is that is if we all learned to let our True Selves shine, "stars" would become obsolete. The same way that if we all learned to tune into Spirit for ourselves, it would do away with "religious leaders". I think it's a projection thing. I know, myself, that many of the "stars" I really admire have some of the same talents as myself, although mine are undeveloped. I "see" a part of myself I wish I was in the star.

Anybody else notice this pattern?

Good point - Aqu/Leo polarity, probably explains the fascination that I have with this question, me being Aqu. But then again, there's this whole religious experience that goes with it too, the spirituality. The most powerful I have seen or experienced in my lifetime was the fame of Nirvana with Mr Pisces at the front.

yes I do agree, I wish I could be the star sometimes. Also its those moments of when you hear a good song and you say "gee I wish I wrote that". Then a bit of jealousy creeps in sometimes :( (must be the hero complex - sun opp saturn).

Yes, Mr. Cobain is a fascinating study on the subject of fame, and one that I would like to learn more about -- he and Ms. Love, too. Actually he shows up in my dreams sometimes. I'm not exactly sure what he represents.

Does anybody have access to his birth data????? I think it would be very interesting to study his chart.

Personally, I also find Jon Bon Jovi a fascinating character, and have followed his life as closely as I could for years. Birth data on Jon would be good, as well. I think his birthday is March 2 - another Pisces. (He is another frequent visitor to my dreams,)

But then I think about it, I would hate to be famous; I'd hate the invasion of my privacy and the constant and endless demands, the living in a tiny space with no freedom and everyone watching you; it would seriously drive me nuts

He is Pisces with Vir asc

20 Feb 1967

He is a very interesting case in that there is conflicting views of his personality. Many say that he didn't want the fame but those close to him said that he wanted it and craved it on the way up. Then there is also conflict as to his personality, some say he was a nice guy who just got caught up while others say he was very caustic and belittling of others and quite arrogant.

Thanks so much for the info on Jon and Kurt. I've been wanting this for a long time. Looking at Jon Bon Jovi's chart, it is rather fascinating. Does anybody know how to load this for public view on the forum? I think it would make a great discussion. He has a stellium in Aquarius in the 4th, and one in Pisces in the 5th - and a singleton of Uranus in the 1st. This is great!!!!!

what a timely thread! just this past week i got the opportunity to do the solar chart of a very rich and famous rapper. i've omitted his name because he gave me his birthdate in confidence, but this guy is pretty huge. here is his chart:

rapper.gif

the first thing i noticed was saturn sitting at 29 degrees in taurus. this guy, talented as he is, is one one the hardest working in the business. i would say that his fame has come to him just as much as because of his work ethic as because of his innate talent, and saturn in taurus attests to this.

the next thing i noticed is his grand trine between saturn in taurus, sun in cap and pluto in libra. this thing to me seems to be hugely powerful, both his sun and saturn are at critical degrees, and of course the relationship between his sun sitting in cap, and cap being ruled by saturn.

then i looked at his challenging aspects, and although he has some, the orbs of the squares of his personal planets (except venus which is heavily afflicted) are all 5-8 degrees, rendering them pretty weak if not obsolete. his sun has no challenging aspects (the orb on the square is 8degrees), moon and mars have one semisquare each, with the addition to mars opposed uranus.

this was the short interpretation i gave him which he said he totally identified with:

-----------------------
the character you portray isnt in your chart at all. there is a distinct ability in the arts but it is related to responsibility, its not just unbridled artisticness. the person in your chart is totally responsible and hardworking and driven, kind of a loner almost but not, but definitely set apart from the rest.

you have this grand trine in your chart, its a special configuration of the planets, its luck and an innate ability thats available to you if you want to use it, and its really strong, and its all about the self working with responsibility and pure will.

the thing with your chart is that its really easy, theres not a lot of challenging aspects (except with venus, which has to do primarily with relationships and how you relate to others in a caring way - its conflicted). a lot of people who have all easy and flowing aspects in their charts just take it easy and ride the wave you know? its easy for them to just maintain and do well without really trying, so they dont push themselves. but you have really utilized your energies to get ahead.

this chart has a lot of power to really accomplish alot in the material world, and you can accomplish much more than you have done so far. i kind of look at things from a karmic perspective, and what this chart says to me is that this power has been building up for a long time now through many lives, and its kind of like, this is your ultimate (or very close to it) incarnation to reach the pinnacle of mastering the material world. but its not just about amassing a whack of cash and selling mad tshirts and doing porno tapes. its about setting a good example for others, which i feel you kind of maybe know already. this actually is one of your karmic missions in this lifetime, to help others by setting a good example of how to be socially appropriate, how to achieve material goals, how to step-by-step achieve ones dreams. you're supposed to be a role model in this life and once you're done in the spotlight, you're to help others get there.

the other thing i see but i havent totally analysed it yet, but is that once you can accomplish what you need to do in this life, if you can accomplish it, you'll have to deal with emotions and relationships and sexuality for some lifetimes (unless you can get through it in this life). i think maybe this aspect of your life is something that you may feel strange about, because in your life you can control making money and working hard and you feel secure in your abilities, but when it comes to relationships, pleasure, emotions, sexuality, its another story.

seems like anarectic planets has an effect and probably configurations between the right planets

Jag - what do you look for in a moon and North Node, what are preferable for fame? NN in 1st house or 10th? Moon in 10th? I have noticed a lot of famous people (esp artists) have moon in the 10th

Yes!! My thoughts on fame exactly. I find it almost sad that people 'connct' or 'identify' so strongly with an image, when that energy could be directed to the amazing people around them. I overheard a girl on a bus crying in ecstacy that she was getting to see Kylie Minogue in concert. I found it exceptionally...odd. If it makes her so happy, it has some worth to it, but how can you give so much emotion in such a non-reciprocal way? Who are you giving that to??? I hope I have't offended anyone here, but I just don't understand the dynamic. Why do some people get squillions of dollars - more than they could spend in a lifetime - for being famous? Many of them are good at what they do - but not so **** good that they warrant incomes larger than the GDP of poor countries!!

It is strange. I guess its about making up what we see lacking in ourselves. I can understand the idolatry of it but I can't understand for example the amazing amount of money people in the sports, for example, are paid. But that is because people see them and that generates money and therefore they can get a cut.

Hi, I also was going to say that moon in the 10th house is a sign in most famous peoples charts. I also wanted to add that Sun Trine Neptune is also a sign in muscians or singers charts. I also read that Part of Fortune in the 10th house is a sign in famous peoples charts.I will have to get back to you on the rest.

Those with their Sun in the first house is like having Leo Rising which is the sign of the performing arts. So as children they can exhibit these traits which are encouraged perhaps. Anyone who is prominent in a field has strong 10th house influences and Neptune ruling illusion, glamour and imagination along with working in film can be very strong. Neptune also rules loss, disillusion and disenchantment so a challenging aspect there in transit or progression could herald a fall from grace in the career so to speak. Pluto is one planet that transforms through a demise or destruction.

Leo natives are typically childlike and some do not want to grow up which seems to be true of Mick Jagger.

It is no secret that many a movie star, famous author or singer made use of sexual favors to short-cut their path to fame. Going to bed with the right person. If someone wants fame bad enough they'll stoop to any lengths to get there and what's a quicker way of doing it? I have numerous pages in alphabetical order of movie stars (even those long dead) with their birthdates and personal placements and whenever I watch a movie, I gather up all the "research" before I watch it. While doing it I was amazed at the large number of Venus or Mars Gemini/Virgo placements (I have Mars in Virgo and once worked as a prostitute-a great position for it-why let that talent go to waste!) and I wonder, wonder, wonder if THIS star wasn't at one point in time working as a prostitute, model, escort or whatever. Sometimes I'll see the lousiest talent on screen and wonder HOW did this person get to where he or she was going and become so famous. I have a good friend who's been writing novels for years (non published) and when he went to NY with one of his finished drafts he was propositioned by a female Editor, implying that if he REALLY wanted that piece published, she was his ticket to possible fame. He declined and still hasn't published anything. REally makes you wonder just how many have have taken the quicker route to fame. Virgo and Gemini predominate in the charts of prostitutes. But then, it has been said that all movie stars are whores in one form or another. Don't overlook the Virgo/Gemini connection to this analysis.
