Ray's Composite Chart

Here is my Composite Chart for me and my partner, your supposed to read this chart as you would a natal chart but it is relationship based. If anyone has any experience of reading this type of chart your comments would be welcome. I will try and have a go myself but will need to read up on it first. I will then add interpretation.

I'll give it a shot, if you don't mind (until someone who knows what s/he's doing comes along).

Sun conj Merc in Gemini in 10th: strong communication, playfulness, concious of its position within society?

Moon in Taurus also conj Sun, almost in Gemini, so it can be counted as Gemini?

All three however are opposed to Venus in 4th, work over family?
Venus does make positive aspects with Mars in 8th in Aries (lots of room for energy, passion, spontanity) and Saturn in Leo in 12th (the rules are respected?).

Mars in Aries in 8th (house of scorpio, transformation, and well sex) trine Venus definitly seems like a strongpoint for any intimate relationship.

All in all a very nice composite chart I'd say; you wouldn't happen to have a synastry chart? Might upload it myself tomorrow.

My dear,

Some cut'n'paste composite interpretations for you, because you deserve it :D I'm going to stop at Saturn, in case you request otherwise, just to limit the flood of info. Also, take these with the usual recommended pinch of salt. When using these I try to keep in mind that positive aspects, and positive effort, both render negative interpretations null and void. For anyone interested, these come from Astro123, which is freeware (so I don't feel so bad about posting them here ;))

Sun in 10th house
With the Sun located in the 10th house, your involvement together will
probably not be one of those "two ships passing in the night" type of
a relationship. Yours stands to be a rather significant one. Your
career, reputation, sense of self-worth and how the outside world sees
you will be very important to you. The Sun located here indicates
that any goals that you have set for yourselves will be an expression
of who you are as a couple and that they will help take you further in
that direction. Social status will be a high priority for the two of
you and you will place a greater importance on how the world perceives
you. The danger here is that you may ignore any emotional problems
that can seriously undermine your relationship. You may become more
concerned with the external world rather than your own internal lives
together and unless you identify this and work on it, your future
together may be difficult to maintain. Even with these potential
difficulties, this is an excellent position for the Sun as long as you
are aware of and avoid the pitfalls.

Mercury in 10th house
Mercury is the planet of communication and the thought processes.
Mercury in the 10th house of career indicates that a great deal of
activity, communication, discussion and planning will occur in your
relationship. This is excellent for an intimate relationship as the
lines of communication will be much more open than in other
relationships. You will share intellectual interests, thus forming a
very close bond with each other. This leads to the kind of growth
that makes a relationship stable and long-lasting. In general, this
position indicates that you have a strong feeling of the purpose of
your relationship.

Moon in 10th house
The Moon indicates our emotional needs. When located in the 10th
house of career, the Moon indicates that these needs may be met
through authority figures and career work. You share a common concern
for moving ahead in life and feel that this can better be done as a
couple rather than as single people. The image that you put forth to
the public is important and you will do everything you can to bring
this to the forefront in a positive way. Actually, this placement is
a better indicator of a professional relationship than a personal one,
as you will support each other's career efforts. But there is nothing
unfavorable about this position in a personal relationship. The same
emotional support will be there as well. Since the 10th house is the
external world, a greater emphasis will be put on what the outer world
sees in your relationship, perhaps leaving the inner working
relationship short of expression and perhaps in need of a lot of work.
Remember, this relationship is between the two of you, not the outside
world and the two of you. When problems do arise in your
relationship, don't make the mistake of blaming the outside world,
your career or anything else you come up with for the shortcomings in
your intimate relationship. The 10th house Moon position indicates a
more active lifestyle and it will help prevent your relationship from
growing old and stagnant.

Mars in 8th house
Mars is the planet of activity, desire, fire and aggression. Located
in the 8th house of transformation, there will no doubt be challenges
before you, but once met and worked through, you will be transformed
by the experience. Mars can create a great amount of sexual energy
with which you may have to deal. You may find sex to be a very
important part of your relationship and that your experiences with sex
have a transforming effect on each of you. Since the 8th house also
has rulership over joint resources, there can be some conflict from
time to time on how and where money is spent. Make sure your egos do
not get in the way in your relationship because if you allow them to,
then possessions may take on too great an importance and become
another area of dispute and conflict.

Venus in 4th house
Venus is the planet of love, beauty and harmony. Located in the 4th
house of the home, it will be easy to see that your home will be very
comfortable, filled with warmth and good fortune. The 4th house
represents the core or most intimate place in your relationship and
people will naturally gravitate to you in the hope that some good
fortune or harmony will wear off on them. Even if the two of you
don't have much money, your home will still be clean and inviting.
The two of you will share much love, happiness and warmth no matter
where you are together, no matter what your financial status may be.
Venus located in the 4th house is an excellent indication of a very
intimate relationship.

Jupiter in 9th house
Jupiter is at home in the 9th house of spiritual insight and
awareness, philosophic thought, long distance travel and religion.
One or both of you may change your point of view on the above issues
or these issues will become more important in your lives because you
are together as a couple. Traveling together appeals to you because
it allows you to share intellectual, philosophical or religious
interests and opinion which will lead to greater growth. Together you
will adopt a standard and style of living including morals to live by.
You will change those things that you believe intolerable. The two of
you will grow a great deal just by being together and you will feel
much more complete with Jupiter located here. Jupiter here does not
guarantee you a long-term relationship, but he will give you very rich
experience.

Saturn in 12th house
Saturn placed in the 12th house indicates that it may be very
difficult for the two of you to deal with each other in an open
manner. Saturn is cold, reserved and proper so your communication
will be somewhat automatic, brief and cold. One of you may find the
relationship too repressing and feel almost put-down by the whole
experience. This may initiate feelings of your needing constant
breaks from each other's company. If you are going to try and stay in
your relationship, then you must recognize that any verbal attacks are
not intentional, but come out almost like they are pre-programmed. A
great tolerance must be adopted if you want this relationship to work
at all.

Some of the Key aspects: (Hey, you guys have a Fire/Air kite!!)

Sun harmonizing with Mars
As a couple, you will be active, energetic, courageous and able to
accomplish a great deal. You will find that just being in each
other's company energizes you and inspires you to try and excel even
more. Sports, physical activities and outdoor pursuits will be your
strengths and you will find that you do very well in them.
You naturally inspire each other and become each other's confidence-
builder, gently pushing the other to be more assertive. Not only do
you support each other, but you take pride in each other's work,
accomplishments and achievements.
Because this is such an energetic configuration, the sexual side of
your relationship may tend to rejuvenate you over and over again.
This an excellent aspect for business and personal partnerships. As a
couple, you seem to know the right course or path in life to take
together and don't mind taking it. Any emergency situations that
arise will be handled efficiently and with level-headed assurance,
thus helping you stabilize each other and giving you tremendous
strength.

Sun harmonizing with Saturn
This is a wonderful indicator of a long-lasting relationship and it
will help to bring more stability, dedication and maturity to you
both. You will find that together your life becomes more secure as
you put your focus will on responsibilities and practical issues. This
is sure to forge a very strong bond between you which will help you
form a peaceful and content relationship rather than one based on jet-
setting or living high on the hog. Be careful that after a period of
time you do not take each other for granted even though yours is a
very comfortable relationship.
Your relationship will enable you to learn a great deal about
yourselves. You will probably prefer peace and quiet to any other form
of lifestyle. There will not be much experimentation and digging
deeper into your psyches here and you will be more reserved in the way
you express your feelings for each other. Even though people may see
you as somewhat cool, calm and collected toward each other, they will
not understand that you do not need constant verbal reassurances to
remind you of what you already feel on a very deep level.
In time you will find that when the chips are down and the going gets
tough, that you can always count on each other, because loyalty,
friendship and reliability are positive and nurturing aspects of your
life together. When it comes to the hum-drum art of daily living,
taking care of work and the responsibilities you have to each other,
this is the energy you want to see you through. And you have it!

Venus harmonizing with Mars
Yours is likely a very passionate and affectionate relationship and
this aspect will help strengthen the bond between you. The intensity
that you feel as a couple cannot be ignored and if you think you are
just going to be friends, without any intimate contact, then you may
need to think again. No matter how much you try to deny the powerful
attraction, the sexual energy will remain, and the urge to merge will
be overwhelming.
Your feelings will always have a high degree of sizzle and this should
keep you warm on a cold night and should not fade over time. This
will not be a "ships that pass in the night" relationship and, should
other indicators in your chart signal any difficulties, this will add
fuel to the high intensity fire. You will have to look elsewhere in
the chart for intellectual and emotional togetherness, but as for the
physical side, it's a definite go!
This aspect does indicate that the two of you are very complementary.
In other words, one of you is strong where the other is weak and vice-
versa. This is very positive no matter what sort of relationship you
have.

Venus harmonizing with Saturn
This is an excellent indicator of a long-lasting relationship or
friendship. While your relationship may not have the heat or sizzle
of affections that some relationships seem to have, neither is it
likely that yours will burn out before it ever has a serious chance of
getting started. Steady and unbreakable feelings of commitment and
responsibility are more likely to be the result of this aspect.
But just because yours may be a sure and steady bond, don't forget the
flowers on the birthdays or the gifts on anniversaries that can often
be overlooked with this aspect. Everyone needs a little appreciation,
especially your partner.
People may see you as tight with money and very practical about what
you purchase or what you value. Instead of an extravagant, show-off
type of love, the simple expressions are more likely to be found here.

Mars harmonizing with Saturn
Over time you will be able to see your goals through to a very
successful conclusion, but only with great patience and determination.
You won't see your efforts fade away, for they will stand the test of
time. There is a slight danger here, however, and that is that even
though this is a stable aspect for you, there can be a lack of
happiness. Acting out of a sense of duty or responsibility may take
the joy out of your being together. Your relationship at times may
resemble a prison without the bars and it may be very disciplined at
times, but you can accomplish quite a great deal in the meantime.
Everything you do will have a well thought out, well planned,
organized, conservative, work, work, work until we drop approach.
Being responsible will be your goal in life and activities involving
fun, adventure and exploring new and exciting things may be difficult
for you to accomplish.

Jupiter discordant to Saturn
There may be real struggle in this relationship. One of you is apt to
be the great optimist who believes that anything and everything is
possible (that real go-getter attitude). The other one may be tied
down with restrictive, cautious, reserved, doubtful and security-
conscious attitudes (the wet blanket attitude). This energy cannot
come together unless the one is less optimistic and the other less
reserved. You need to find the common ground. There is no other way
for this relationship to work. This aspect also adds less
compatibility to the relationship as it vacillates back and forth from
positive direction to grim outlook. It's for sure that one of you is
going to be the "heavy" in this duo.
If, perchance, the optimist in this relationship has the greater
influence, then extravagance and debt can really do a number on the
conservative one who must "fix" the problem, thus adding frustration
and difficulty to this combination.

Thank you for the interpretations. Sanem what you picked up from the work versus home aspect is very true. I do moan now and again about all the time he spends at work. This area of our life does need balancing, but he does make the effort. I think because he is doing so well at work and is very ambitious, he wants to climb the ladder, so he will put in a lot of time there.

Howl thank you for generously putting all this information up for my chart. with the Sun in 10th and this interpretation meaning a very significant relationship. This is true I feel it is a very important relationship for me. We have a child together and we will always be connected to one another. We have a very close bond, our relationship isn't taken lightly we have felt strong feelings from the beginning of our relationship and have always felt like we were meant to be. With the Moon/Mercury in 10th, our relationship is based on getting ahead in life. My partner always tells me he works the long hours so we can have a better life, and he wants to provide well for us. In our conversations we are always planning ahead. I moan about his long hours but I am a strong support for him and have always been there for him (I have my Sun in 7th Natally).

Venus in the 4th, we are a very loving couple and we love being at home with each other. We always treat each other lovingly, it is very rare we argue. With Saturn in 12th adding a more repressive nature, our relationship is still young so it is hard to tell at the moment. For the real problems to begin I find you have to be together for two years and then any problems will be more apparent or begin to show themselves. But what relationship doesn't have challenges. No matter what partner your with there will always be some conflict. If your synastry/composite chart had more heavy influences with lots of negative aspects the relationship would not last unless you both were willing to put your differences aside. I would be bored if the relationship didn't have any challenges to resolve.

Saturn seems to be stabilizing our relationship and highlighting the stability as a couple. This is the most stable relationship I have ever had. With Jupiter in negative aspect to Saturn I just know I am the "wet blanket" oh well never mind I am the "heavy" (Saturn) but someone has to be. My partner is the "optimistic" (Jupiter). I am only like this for the good of the relationship to help us progress. My partner will plan all our holidays, plan our whole future. And I am not knocking him, but I do put a little bit of a dampener on us to not get too overexcited and to start saving and make sure we have money for all these plans, and not spend it all here there and everywhere. (but I have a money problem too and can't save very well but we are trying.)

The Mars opposed Pluto worries me a little not sure on how this will manifest in our relationship. I hope we are not going to get into power struggles.

Well there is a lot of opposition between work (Sun, Moon, Merc) and home (Venus), but I would like to stress just how positive Venus in 4th really is. These may not exactly be the easiest of aspects, but it's definitly worth fighting for.

Edit: on the Pluto opposing Mars thing, I was thinking that perhaps transformation are opposed with words, from fear of loosing control.
Maybe try not to talk your way out of situations, but try to let go now and than, Mars is a powerful planet, opposing it can be dangerous (and I know what I'm talking about) and worse than accepting it.

Possibly your right Sanem. I have Venus square Pluto natally and my partner has Venus Conjunct Pluto. This would make us both intense in love. My partners Venus/Pluto Conjunction falls in his 3rd house, and he is very charming with words quite intense in his expression of love for me. He always says "he will never let me go" how much more Venus/Pluto can you get with these words. I have tried to be less Venus/Pluto and and I let him have a lot of freedom.

We do want the same things in life, and home life is very important. If I had to say who was the boss in the relationship I would have to say me. But maybe his charming way with words are controlling in their own way. But there is a deep love we have for each other there would have to be something major to happen to ever break our relationship up.

I am not sure what the Nodes in houses mean for composite charts. Ours being in Scorpio 4th house, possibly our relationships destiny is for major transformations involving the home.

Incase this helps:

Pluto in 3rd house
Pluto located in the 3rd house of communication indicates that this
relationship will bring huge changes in the way you think and speak to
others. At the same time you are more than likely going to have the
same impact on people in your immediate environment, whether it is
family, friends, relatives or neighbors. Pluto here will have you
taking a good, hard look at the way you communicate in very deep and
profound ways. You will spend a great deal of time psychoanalyzing
your relationship, trying to find out what makes it work, which may or
may not get old after awhile. One thing is for sure, Pluto here will
help you gain a deeper understanding into yourself and the others
around you. Now, along a negative vein, Pluto in the 3rd can try to
mind-alter the other through brain washing, guilt, manipulation or
control and this should be avoided at any cost, as power always turns
on the controlling person. If either of you turn this powerful energy
to the outside world, then you will only make enemies of family,
friends, relatives and the people in your immediate environment.

Mars discordant to Pluto
This combination is an extremely powerful force and when you use this
energy you can make some considerable changes for either good or evil.
Using this energy to challenge, manipulate or dominate each other or
using underhanded methods to get what you want will only destroy your
relationship in the long run. The anger that can be generated here may
be very great and violent reactions can occur. You may compete
fiercely with each other, even if you have never been the competitive
type before. If this is carried too far, then one or both of you will
get hurt. You should use all this power to transform yourselves and
others or perform work or services for people in your environment. But
do not force others into anything and do not force anything upon them.
You cannot stopped in your endeavors as this combination gives
unbelievable capacity and endurance. The passion and sexual energy
that burns between you may be intense and staying warm on a cold,
winter's night will not be difficult to do.

Thanks Howl for the interpretation, I suppose the Mars/Pluto aspect could manifest negatively, it is hard to tell at the moment because we don't relate in a negative way, although we have both got a Venus/Pluto and have had troubled relationships in the past. Hopefully we have both grown a lot since then and have learned how to relate without getting into power struggles.
