Career indicators in chart - help!

Hi All,

I'm looking to have my chart read in terms of what jobs/careers are indicated in my natal chart. My birth info is as follows:

Name: Jessica
DOB: Oct. 19, 1986
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Time: 1:51pm
Rising Sign: (Supposedly Aquarius 00 degrees- right on the cusp of Capricorn)
Chinese: Fire Tiger (Born at mid-day- this means I'll have a rocky life, or something??)
Myers-Briggs Personality type: ENFP (Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving type)

So, it seems I have a lot of chart indicators for job/careers but I am really confused right now. I'm 25 with an undergrad BA (In Sociology and Italian Studies) and a lot of varied and unrelated travel and work experiences. I'm unsure of what I want to do, what my calling is, and even what it is I'm good at. In the past two years since I've graduated, I have learned a few things, however. I like working with people, I'm compassionate, I like autonomy, I'm good at organizing others, I like working with children, but not teaching them, I like comforting them and tending to their emotional needs more so than I like helping them learn to spell, do math, etc. I was thinking I would be frustrated for this reason if I became a teacher. I was thinking nursing instead but I have a lot of beef with Western Medicine, prescription drugs, insurance companies, and apathy for true wellness and preventative medicine in the american healthcare system, so that's kind of out too. For a young woman in the U.S. without direction, these seem to be the most obvious routes.

I also have an artistic turn of mind and enjoy taking fine art film photography- but it's mainly just a hobby. I also like collage. I am a good writer but find it difficult to put together a succinct argument for essays so I feel like journalism wouldn't do. Also I hate working at the computer and get carpal tunnel symptoms after a short period of office-type work. I enjoy singing and have a natural talent for it despite never having studied. Problem is I am very nervous in front of people and don't understand music theory or know how to play an instrument so music is fairly inaccessible to me.

Some chart highlights that are pertinent to career that I know of so far:

Jupiter in Pisces supposedly indicates the healing arts. This configuration is in my second house so it seems to suggest this is a money making chart aspect?? I've also heard it can mean publishing?

My Mercury and Venus are perfectly conjunct in my tenth house of career, this indicates beauty in speech, singing and writing, which are apparent to me (I also have a certain grace and poise, elegance about me- people always used to ask if I was a ballerina and I am not.) So this could indicate singing, writing and art in general?

This Venus/Mercury conjunction is in Scorpio in the 10th house, which I've heard indicates research, cutting or surgery, acupuncture, and intensity in general. Both are very near my MC or Midheaven, with my Taurus Moon in the 4th house directly opposite near my IC...not exactly sure what this means. I think Freud and some other great psychoanalysts had this chart aspect.

Saturn is in my 10th house in Sagittarius- this may indicate a delay in success?

Pluto is in my 9th house in Scorpio very close to the Midheaven or MC, which seems to indicate power? Barack Obama and some politicians seems to have this chart aspect.

My Moon is my oriental planet and is almost 180 degrees behind my sun (Libra in the 9th house) maybe indicating counseling?

My Neptune is in Capricorn in the 12th house, I hear this can also have something to do with career.

Also, Saturn is transiting over my Libra Sun in 9th house right now and it's been really rough! In the next 5-7 years it will hit 7 other planets in my chart and I'm kind of scared. Although I do feel way stronger now with Saturn almost through it's transit over my natal sun...so maybe when it goes through the 10th house of career and all my other planets I will figure some stuff out in terms of what I'm doing??

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Jess

Re: Career indicators in chart - help!

Lastly, I'm thinking of doing an acupuncture/herbalism masters program at a traditional Chinese Medicine school, but it is very expensive and will take up 4 years of my time so I want to be sure the healing arts are right for me considering my chart aspects. If counseling is more so indicated there is a depth psychology graduate program with a focus on counseling. Or should I get into writing? Guh...I simply do not know...I'm interested in many things and just want too do something I'm good at so I don't have to get a job at taco bell :P

You should make pop art about religious conflict, suffering and martyrdom.

Can you explain your reasoning for this based on my chart, Moog?

Re: Career indicators in chart - help!

In your career:

You need to show off and be noticed (Peregrine Sun). Here comes the organization ability, because Sun is so strong, it may even lead all the other career influences in your case.

You need to tell others what is going on or what they should do. The instructor, the coach, the teacher (Moon is oriental).

Career may involve: long distance traveling, teaching, foreign places, higher education, law, religion, guiding (MC ruler Pluto in 9th house, Venus rules your 9th).
Plus you have to be number one with your words, opinions (MC ruler Pluto makes exact square with Mars).

You need to feel comfortable, maybe take care about others safety and needs, or work for your country, or work at home (Moon in Taurus opposing MC), as Moon rules your 6th - your career may involve very simple things, such as caring about others health, eating, exercising, cleaning, checking mistakes or putting things in the order.

So I would suggest some 9th house career (3 times comes out: peregrine Sun, Venus cnj Mc rules 9th, MC ruler Pluto in 9th, Jupiter get`s lot of attention because of squares).

Which would involve some taking care of others (moon oriental, Moon opp MC). Maybe working as a flight attendant, or giving excursions in a foreign land?

What jobs you have done before in your life?

If Saturn will hit your Pluto you will be faced with reality in your career options. This could be tough, but for sure make you more mature.

Re: Career indicators in chart - help!

You've got some travel indicators in your chart, with your sun and MC ruler (Pluto) in your 9th house. But your moon conjunct your IC in stability-loving Taurus suggests you like to have a solid home base.

Maybe one way around this would be to work with new immigrants, and in so doing, taking advantage of your sociology background. The 9th house deals with mind-expanding topics generally, including higher education. Have you thought of going back to school and getting a degree in social work?

Venus conjunct your MC is also a career indicator. Venus rules the arts generally. It makes a nice trine to your Jupiter in your second house of money. Jupiter is strong as the traditional ruler of Pisces. However, both planets are retrograde, so you may feel some blockage in expressing them in an outward form. The second house also rules the throat, and people with strong second houses often are singers-- even if they don't perform professionally.

So I propose that you look for ways to combine all of your interests and strengths. What about starting up or working for a private after-school or weekend arts "academy" for young children? My daughter taught for a while at such a school, and it was sufficiently successful that it was actually part of a small chain. You might introduce children to music, photography, and performance; and perhaps collaborate with another friend or business associate with more background in painting, ceramics, &c. Depending upon where you live now, there may be such a school in your area.

Alternative, that first house Mars sextiling Saturn might turn your interests more towards something like a sports camp.

Chiron in your 5th house of children is interesting. Although it could mean that children are a source of disappointment to you, a more empowering interpretation is that you work with children who are disadvantaged or troubled in some way.

Given the rotten state of today's economy, however, you want to take a hard look at in-demand careers, and your own knowledge of personal finance and the basics of starting a small business.

Re: Career indicators in chart - help!

Hi anny & waybread,

Thanks for your responses- sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you both. I'm turning 26 very soon and have mostly been very confused about career until now, but some clarity is slowly showing itself through the fog. I have a BA in Sociology & Italian Studies but never considered myself a very good student and I don't think I'm rigorous enough for a life of academia. I do think I'm intelligent but not in a way many people recognize as such. I've been getting into astrology recently and only in the past year discovered my moon sign and the rest has gone from there. I'm learning it all in a very piece meal sort of way and I think anecdotes are really the best way to learn. For example, I'm now very familiar with Saturn transiting natal Sun since this just passed over mine in Libra. I've learned a lot in the 2 years Saturn has been in my sun sign but it's been a lot of hard lessons...school of hard knocks, as they say. I've done many random jobs and in many random places but a theme has only just started to emerge. I've now been working with children for over a year and, though I already have my B.A., I'm taking early childhood education classes to try and get a full time position with benefits as a preschool teacher, and then perhaps go on to child psychology. I find this interesting because Chiron is in my 5th house of children and creativity so I will have both great strengths and great weaknesses in these areas... lots of interesting astrological stuff will be going on next year on May 25th for me....transiting Jupiter will be conjunct my Chiron, Merc & Venus will both be transiting and conjuct in 18 degrees of gemini, while I have merc & venus conjunct in 20 degrees of scorpio natally, Saturn will also be transiting and exactly conjunct my Pluto in 6th degrees of scorpio, which is my MC ruler. Something big is going to be going down... here's a chart of what I'm talking about:

Re: Career indicators in chart - help!

Also- I do travel quite a lot. People my age are always jealous and ask me how I do it, but I just shrug...I'm quite sick of traveling actually but can't seem to get away from it and stay stable somewhere. Moon in my 4th house also means I move a lot and like to live near water...currently living near the ocean and trying to settle down into a routine.

I do like to sing but it's kind of a secret passion for me, it's interesting that you mention the retrograde Jupiter and Venus in relation to this. I find it extremely difficult to sing in front of other people. Perhaps this also relates to Chiron sitting in my house of creativity, I do have issues with expressing myself, though I consider myself a creative person. Creativity is a somewhat tortured subject for me...I don't push myself to be creative as it's a source of stress for me.

I might be applying to teach English abroad in Spain next Fall, so that seems like it would fall into many of my career indicators, travel, teaching, children, higher learning (I would be learning Spanish)...might be a good path to take, in any case.

Thanks again for all the help!
