As Moon is one of the character makers with Sun and AC everything in connection with it is extremely important.
1) I always look first the sign of Moon - how the emotions look like. And then also the sign ruler position.
For example my Moon is in Gemini , which should mean that I it comes naturally for me to be talk-active, interested about many things, write and gather information and that my moods are very changeable. Light and social personality, someone, who is easy to get along with.
But as Gemini is ruled by Mercury, and my Mercury is in Virgo, then my Moon in Gemini has strong Virgo`s vibrations. Not always, but mostly. So the way I talk is much more concentrated on specific themes, I choose with who I talk, because time is money (Mercury in Virgo in 2nd - practicality). Also my emotions are very mind ruled, so I am much more practical than general Moon in Gemini would be. Plus the bigger motivation for gathering information is not just to gossip, like Moon in Gemini would do, but to help others, to be somehow useful (influence of Virgo).
2) Then the house position - in which field this finds expression.
For example my Moon is in 11th. So this should mean that I need friends and social involvement. That I am someone who mothers my friends or society(strangers) as general. But who is also whether influenced by others, or has big impact to others. But again comes the Virgo influence. First, because Moon in 11th is intercepted in Gemini, but also because the ruler of 11th is Venus in Virgo. So I have to admit that I am not so social as usual Gemini Moon would be, but I love new information, when I can somehow help others or be useful with it. So my motivations to use this Moon in Gemini is ruled by Virgo attitude. So to be talk-active, when it teaches me something useful or practical. I can`t stand small-talk - like my Moon in Gemini would indicate. Also my 11th house influence is under control of mind and practicality - Virgo ruler. Generally my mother is like a friend to me, at least she doesn`t seem like an authority for me (Moon in 11th).
3) Then very important are the aspects, how the planet can express itself, or how it is modified by influences.
The most exact aspect in my chart is between 4th house Pluto in Scorpion and Moon. 0 orb aspect is also with Saturn. There is also square with Mars and 45 aspect with Chiron in the 12th. So I can say that my home has for sure influenced me to be more secretive and in depth going than my Gemini Mood usually would be. As Moon represents home and Pluto is in 4th house, I have always felt not very well when being at home. Always I had to be suspicious and aware that no one will hurt me (also square with Mars). I remember when I was child it hurt me (Chiron 45 Moon) very much when my mother was joking over me (Moon square Mars - feeling that mother is like an enemy) with her friends (Moon in 11th). I also remember other painful situations where my ego got hurt from the childhood (Chiron in Leo 45 to Moon). Saturn aspect with Moon may indicate that I am controlling my emotions and I want to achieve something in the 11th house fields, when taking care of society. My long term hopes are connected with using my talk-activeness and interest toward random information(Gemini Moon) to be useful (Moon ruled by Mercury in Virgo), likely through psychological and deeply healing ways (Pluto aspect from 4th - the base, past).
So what I want to say is that when looking one factor in chart, then the impression could be quite wrong. For example when to look my Moon in Gemini 11th, without taking account aspects or ruler of the house, sign, then the interpretation could be something like this:
Someone, who is
- very talk-active about her wishes, hopes
- but also changing her mind easily about her dreams
- influenced by others, or influences others with her ideas
- light- hearted toward ideologies
- social person -many light connections - need for variety
- like a social butterfly - not so strong bonds with friends
- changing the groups where she belongs very often, or just has very different friends or groups where she belongs, likely she has two social lives.
Yes, I can say it fits for me, but the tone is different. In order to make it clear here is one example.
I have also one friend who has Moon in Gemini in the 11th, but the difference is that her 11th house ruler, Mercury is in Aries. She has so many connections, but they are all superficial (she doesn`t have Pluto aspect like me - i need to delve into friends or groups mentality). She knows a lot of people, but she doesn`t have so many friends. Especially good ones. She likes to change her friends very often. Here is also the mutability between Gemini-Aries actions, and the conflict between my Gemini-Virgo connections. If she needs to have many connections that help her to achieve her goals (aries is self-centered), then i prefere to have many connections to help others (virgo likes to serve others). As 11th house also deals with groups, then in some way we are both very connected with social activity. As she has also Saturn aspect( although trine, I have 135 aspects) with her Moon like me, and for both of us Saturn rules our 6th, then we are both involved with groups and social activeness through our work environment. Although because she has trine aspect, it is easier for her to combine her social activeness with work responsibilities than for me, because I have 135 aspect.
For me it needs more activity, integration. Her job is to organize music events (Moon in 11th aspects with Neptune in 6th) - involvement of music groups, whereas I work with people`s complexes (Moon aspect to Pluto) and self-assertiveness (Moon aspect to Mars).
So to answer to your question. Yes Moon house position is very important in my life, although for sure the aspects and signs should be considered!! I hope my openness about my chart was helpful!!
