Significance of the 7th house

Can anyone tell me about the significance of the 7th house? My (limited) undertanding is that it is the house of relationships? I read an article recently about the lack of planets in that house on Natal Chart as being significant in terms of whether or not a person has a life long partnership.
Any information for clarity appreciated.

7th house is relationships

The 7th house is the house of relationships. If a person does not have planetary energy focused in this house, then they don't focus on the issues of this house. This does NOT mean that they can not have relationships, but it DOES mean they will not pursue relationships for the sake of being in a relationship...there will be some other reason they get in the relationship. The 7th house interests me, since I have 3 planets in there, including two luminaries and chart ruler. I have looked at other examples to see how this works. It seems the public is also a major factor in this house "others" in general. Obama has a busy 7th house, his chart ruler (Uranus) is in the 7th house, and he shares his politics with his wife. No planets in the 7th doesn't mean "no partners", I wish astrology was that easy :smile:. If people have planets in the 7th they may need to have a heavier involvement with "others" in general not just the partner. It depends upon the planet there and aspects. Look at Diana Princess of Wales, she had Sun in Cancer, but she never had the best relationship with Charles (her 8th house reveals more), and she had many flings with other men. The public is where she shone, through her sensitivity to those in need. My examples are getting stale I always use the same ones :whistling:.

I have Uranus (my chart ruler) in 7th opp Asc and badly aspected. This is the divorce planet. I also have Pluto here too, well aspected. When there are no planets in a house, simply look at which sign rules the house cusp ie: leo ruling =sun then look to where the sun is placed by sign, house and aspect.

Researching rulers of houses will help you understand more where I joining the dots so to speak
