What am I like in love and what's the best career for me?

Hi all,

I really have 2 questions that I would be incredibly grateful if anyone could take the time to answer from analysing my chart.

My first question would be: what can you tell me about what love means to me? What am I attracted to? What do I attract? How do I love?

The second is: Does anything in my chart indicate a career in writing and/or working with animals?

The combined Gemini energy indicated here can definitely be good for writing: the Jupiter/Venus can be very fortuitous, because it ties in with the cusp of the 9th [publishing] How about writing about working with animals? Your 6th house shows the potential for the handling of animals...Mars in Cancer can induce sympathy and understanding in the care of pets [personally I have a house rabbit who is enduring and entertaining at the same time]

As per love connections: Venus is well appointed in Gemini, combined with the urge to learn and expand. You are attracted by mental compatability primarily; you can be quite flirtatious and at times rather fickle. What you expect in love can change quite quickly from one moment to the next: this can make you quite duplicitous or superficial in social exchanges.
What am I attracted to? Your response is completely spot on.

I am definitely drawn to dependable and strong - the strong, silent type so to speak, which usually draws men of mystery who can either turn out to be good or bad for me! You are also correct that I am wavering about what I want romantically from one moment to the next, and sadly 100% correct about the depressive episodes.

Could you possibly elaborate on Mars in Cancer and the issues that may arise in relationships?

As you see by the red lines in the chart, there is a significant polarity between Mars and your Capricorn energies: such configurations usually depict conflicts in relationships often involving face to face confrontations and disagreements; this represents your dynamic challenge in life, because it denotes imbalance between how you project yourself outwardly and your emotional reactions swirling within...it is all a matter of balance. Mars in Cancer is weak in expression due to internalized insecurity issues; as mentioned this can make you moody, and at times you may try to assert control over others inappropriately in the attempt to compensate for your own inner fears; you can be lacking in the initative to manifest your own intentions, waiting for others to give you the push that you need. Others can pick up on your 'neediness' and be resistant to your emotional outbursts. In this case, we see a heavy weighting on earth energies [the material] and the energies of water [emotional]: this can set up a push me, pull you type of scenario, where you are apt to avoid open confrontations, but then feel resentful if others keep their distance. My chart seems to have quite a lot of negativity in it :S I definitely suffer with depression, anxiety and insecurity but in other ways can be quite confident.

I definitely need to retreat often and push others away.

I've heard that the trines and sextiles of a chart can be where negative energies can find 'release'. As this seems quite an intense lot of rubbish going on in my chart, is there anything positive or relieving?

You have your personal challenges to try to work to overcome, as we all do; this is what life is about. You are right, the trines and sextiles show the potential for opportunities to 'overcome and resolve': indeed the oppositions show more polarized energies, involving face to face confrontations: these are about deciding whether to resolve, or just walk away. Indeed there are aspects of promise in the chart; it's just a matter of discovery them, and working to enhance the positive, rather than the negative. You have Jupiter and Venus joined in Gemini, which can be fortuitious in relationships, once you have the keys for appropriate navigation in social settings.
