I thought I'd take a look at American pop culture through the years to see if I could find any hints of 'karmic involvement'. Here are a few that brought concepts to mind. Maybe a little something for everybody (over 30?); I added links for a few of them.

There's not much of the karmic downside here - 'cept maybe for Pirate Jenny. Don't skip it. And if you really like Nina's version, look for Judy Collins doing the same song with nowhere near the intensity. (I used the comparison when teaching way back when.)
