Astrologer told me I should have been a Musician!
When I saw a professional astrologer for the first time, he quickly glanced at my chart and told me that if he had seen me as a child, he would have recommended that I become a musician.
Now, music was my very first passion and still is a big hobby of mine. I considered being a musician at one point in my life, but my lack of insight and faith kept me from moving in that direction.
Now I know full well that I'm a bit old to jump head first into the music biz, gigging and all that. However, with the internet age there is possibility I feel. Even, if it doesn't manifest in a career per se...
I have a very good job at the moment and don't need to change anything. I do feel that I'm not completely happy in my position and that eventually I would love to do something where I can combine my strengths with my passions.
Now it's interesting as my job is in finance. Yup, I'm sure by looking at my chart you wouldn't have gathered that. I went into the family biz and it has been good to me over the years although, as I mentioned, I'm not completely satisfied (I'm not sure you can be when we're talking about "work").
My particular position is extremely fast paced which you could almost liken to being on stage where any mistake will most definitely be noticed. Also, it takes quite the manual dexterity and speed to do what I do and do it well. I've often associated my job to musical improvisation.
Now, astrologically speaking, this then could be related to that Mars in the 10th house since we're talking action. Also, I recently read that, Mars in Scorpio lends to manual dexterity. I'm very atheletic and could have probably been a professional athelete if it wasn't for my Mars being Rx. This always made me quite uncompetetive with others but I would still push myself.
So to say I would be a stage musician is probably not the direction I'm thinking (maybe for fun when I'm retired, lol). I'm thinking more about a recording artist/producer. I know it's a very challenged area at the moment but that could change as technology gets better (tracking, etc). You see, I feel my Venus/Neptune conjunction in the 5th makes me very creative. I've written music now for the past 15 or so years. I've played music (guitar) for over 20 and have taken some recording classes. I used to play in bands etc.
With the way technology is these days, quite a bit can be done on your own should you have the dedication. I'm also friends with a producer who is just beginning to see some success. So there is potential... maybe not as a front man, but potentially as a writer or producer.
I'm curious, what do you see in my chart that supports or hinders this. I'm not quitting my day job anytime soon, just wondering what may happen if I put a little additional effort in this direction.
I notice that the North Node is currently transiting my 5th house so maybe that's where I'm getting this energy from...?
Thanks!

Re: Astrologer told me I should have been a Musician!
Hi,
You have already picked up the most important pointers in relation to your question.
Mercury receiving aspects from Ven gives a lot of music talent. This is not there in the chart, but Mer is still indirectly connected to Ven by being in the same house. Ven-Nep is of a big advantage for creativity purposes, which you have. All three planets are in the house of creativity, the 5th house. Both Mer and Nep aspect your Midheaven, showing that profession will either have to do with creativity, or with social service. Another bout of creativity comes from Ura-Moon. Moon is in Pisces/Nep's natural dominion and has the ability to withdraw itself into its own world of imagination (required for creativity) and put pen to paper (Gem). A Gem Moon always likes to communicate (Gem) what it feels (Moon), be it through article/book writing or what you are doing. Immense thinking and writing power also comes from Pluto in the 3rd. Plu is tied to Jup in the 7th, which might mean that you either work with others as far as writing/producing music goes, maybe even with a kin?
Plu-Jup in a good aspect also gives the native to know instinctively, where fortune lies for him, thereby giving him good powers to make money. With Plu involved (in general) the native has to be careful not to make money by wrong means. MC in Aries means that the native likes power (Aries-leadership), and a certain amount of freedom. Mars in Tau (though usually a slow, but practical mover) in the 10th amplifies this, but unlike Mars in Aries that screams action at any cost to get ahead (main purpose), Mars in Tau wants tangible results (often materialistic ones/pleasure, Tau loves that) and will not let its own investment of energy go waste. Sun, ruler of the 2nd in the 4th could show money made from (working from) home. You are right about the N Node going over your 5th house invoking creativity and talents. I always say that the Nodes seldom go unnoticed, just watch the house they are transiting, and see how the matters of that house will gain meaning and importance.

Re: Astrologer told me I should have been a Musician!
Thank you so much for your reply AQ7! I'm sooo happy that you stopped by. I ran out of "thanks" today so I'll have to give you one tomorrow.
I found it interesting what you said about making money from home. That has been a dream of mine and it would be so very nice to accomplish! I would think Mars Rx would facilitate this since it's a more internal Mars.
Also interesting that you noted the Pluto in the 3rd and writing/thinking skills as I always associated those skills with Mercury in Scorpio. I always forget about what Pluto is doing! Lol. I know I shouldn't... I think the square between Pluto and Saturn actually gives quite a bit of drive if I'm not mistaken. I certainly have tenacity when I need it (which may be also explained by Mars in Taurus possibly...)
I just needed a bit of confirmation since I can be a bit insecure (cancer asc). So I certainly appreciated your stopping by and well thought answer. Thanks again!

Re: Astrologer told me I should have been a Musician!
Hey Stillone:
Well, I kind of looked at your chart a bit, and though this does not apply to your original query, it does apply to your natal chart.
What really stands out to me are your conjunctions with the IC, Sun and Uranus, which are amplified by the harmonious relationship with the Moon. This is a powerful array of planetary influence.
I do not look at the IC as signifying a pre-parental influence on one's personal nature but, rather, look at it as providing information on a person's subconscious traits or instincts, even. This tells me that you are one of life's mediators. You are sensitive to disruptions in relationships, be they your own or someone's whom you are close to. You want people to like each other, and you want people to like you. Now this is not a revelation because most are like this to one degree or another, but I believe for you it is more than most. The desire to be liked and loved and the reciprocation of these feelings and emotions are highly important to you. People probably pick up on this, and I bet it is a trait of yours that many find endearing. It is also your personalty, meaning that you have always been this way, since childhood. It's an innate trait.
I think you would be a good mediator or specialized counselor because you are likely good at perceiving issues and reconciling them.
I hope I'm not totally off the mark on this!

Re: Astrologer told me I should have been a Musician!
StillOne,
There are a lot of indicators for musical ability in your chart. Pisces and Taurus are the signs most related to musical ability. Your MC is at 29 pisces and Mars in Taurus is in the tenth house. Most times when people are very successful at music in their career, Neptune is linked with the tenth house in some way. Neptune at 5 Sag is making an out of sign 6 degree trine with the MC degree. The ruler of your MC is Neptune and it is conjunct Venus in the fifth house. The Venus-Neptune aspect gives an abundance of creativity and imagination on its own. This talent is very much enhanced by the combination being in the fifth house of creativity. Moreover, Mars in Taurus is quincunx within 3 degrees the Venus-Neptune which gives you another link between the creativity and career houses.
Regarding your writing ability, your Moon in Gemini, Pluto in the third house and Mercury in Scorpio gives you a good mix of lightness and depth in lyrics. The Moon in Gemini helps you to communicate your ideas in a way that other people can easily understand and the Pluto in third could mean that your writing has a transformative effect on people. Your Mercury also makes an exact quincunx to the Moon which should drive you to channel your most honest emotions into your writing and connect with a larger audience.
The Sun-Uranus conjunction in Libra shows out of the box thinking in an artistic manner. This should help you to come up with truly unique messages and themes that you want to convey through lyrics as opposed to what has been traditionally done before or relying on the cookie cutter forumla that many artists use to sell music. It is in an out of sign opposition with your MC at 29 pisces, showing the connection with career.
In short, you do objectively have many indicators of success in a musical writing career so I would encourage you to pursue it if it makes you more fulfilled. People at the end of their life often comment that they only truly regret things that they never did!

Ah yes, no problem. I know you were interested in looking at my Mercury aspects before, but I'll take any comment!

I usually don't look at these aspects so thanks for the reminder. Seems I'm always immersed in something a little deeper. I should probably investigate this area further since it is so strong and lies in this particular area of the zodiac. Also, being aware of strengths in the chart is definitely important.

Well, I think you're pretty spot on here! Indeed I am very good at working with people and making sure things work smoothly. You're correct in that I want people to like me and I do want everyone to get along. Also, I most definitely am extremely sensitive.
I've thought about counseling before and potentially in the future that may be something I consider. I've researched a lot of material on self improvement so it would be fun to share what I've learned along the way.
Thanks again for taking a look!

Good to know. I wasn't aware that pisces was also a musical power sign. I figured Libra may be included...

Good stuff! Thanks for the reaffirmation on the emotional content. It's the most difficult area but of course the best material.

Funny that I never thought of my MC in pisces to be related to music! Silly me Indeed, I do write and compose in an original/unique manner that I think could be something interesting/different for people to listen to.

Re: Astrologer told me I should have been a Musician!
You are welcome StillOne. I guess you've read some of my previous posts . I am a piano teacher, I've been teaching for the last 8 years. I also perform at concerts/ shows when I have time. I love playing piano and think that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn an instrument. It is never too late to make music a part of your life. Best of luck to you!
