Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

It would be a good idea to actually reduce the number of fixed stars on your chart. The less cluttered, the easier to interpret.

You have your sun as the ruler of the Asc (Leo) in the 3rd house aspecting with Jupiter/Saturn/Uranus & neptune. This is the main feature that shapes your personality.

Dominant signs: Scorpio 4th house where you'll experience a great deal of importance, tension & mixed feelings because of the presence of the stellium of Mars-Mercury-Pluto.

Dominant Element: Earth which likely means that you pay attention to material gain & domestic pleasures.

I never understood the concept of 'ruler of the chart' but hope you get some idea from this. If you have specific questions ask.

I agree that it is likely that angular Saturn, sitting on your descendant, and strong in the sign of which it is ancient ruler, may be the dominant planet. It trines your Sun Jupiter conjunction, squares Pluto, and a bit widely inconjuncts your Sun's ruler, Venus. When you look out into the world, you likely see it through the lens of dignified Saturn in Aquarius.

Mars, as ancient ruler of Scorpio and angular, is also strong. It is less integrated into the chart by aspect, but does rule Mercury and the IC. Both Saturn and Mars may be unconscious and projected onto others until self-awareness informs you that those qualities belong to you, too.

With both of the luminaries, Sun and Moon, and also Jupiter, in Libra, as well as strong Saturn in Aquarius, Air may be the dominant and psychologically superior element.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

It looks like we have a kind of broad disagreement, here. I hope this isn't confusing you too much! Here's my take on your horoscope.

The chart ruler is the planet that governs the Ascendant. The Ascendant is the way that we meet the world, how we are seen. In this chart, Leo is the Ascendant and, since Leo is ruled by the Sun, the Sun is the chart ruler.

That doesn't make the Sun the most important planet, however. But Leo loves to be the centre of attention and has a dramatic flare that others usually find very attractive. At the opposite end of the axis, Aquarius relates to crowds, the wider world and humankind in general. Saturn conjunct the descendant, there, inhibits your Leonine tendancies and can make you feel insecure at times, unsure whether you can trust what you experience from others. One potential difficulty may be that, in holding back, you can appear to be aloof and as though you may feel you're better than other people. This is confusing for others because they expect you to be this warm, sunny person when they meet you.

Your Sun and Moon are both in Libra, which means that you express energy to please others (Libra) and that your reigning need is to be appreciated, to be attractive and to be known to be a fair person (Moon). In other words, your Sun and Moon are perfectly harmonious. Libra is ruled by Venus which makes beauty and elegance important to you, too, and which is part of what the Sun projects through the Leo Ascendant.

The planet that is your final dispositor--the one to whom the others ultimately refer, is Pluto, and that means that Pluto is ultimately the most powerful planet in your chart. Not only is Pluto incredibly, transcendently powerful to begin with, but he's the final reactor in almost everything that you experience. This is because Pluto is at home in Scorpio and no other planet can modify or overrule him which is not the case for other planets in your chart.

Your Sun, Moon and Jupiter are all in Libra, which is ruled by Venus. Venus is the dispositor for those planets. Venus is in Virgo, which is ruled by Mercury, the dispositor. In turn, Mercury is in Scorpio and disposed by Pluto. Mars is the co-ruler of Scorpio, but is disposed by Scorpio because Mars is also the ruler of Aries whereas Pluto only governs Scorpio. At the same time, Neptune, in Capricorn, is disposed by Saturn and Saturn, in Aquarius is in mutual reception with Uranus in Capricorn. Planets in mutual reception can be final dispositors but only when there is no other planet to be the final dispositor. Because Pluto is the end of the line for Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury, Pluto is the final dispositor for your chart. That position increases his strength and influence throughout your horoscope.

Water is the weakest element, but Pluto makes Scorpio the strongest sign, particularly when Pluto is at home in Scorpio.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

I like your take on setting things down Peregrine Moon. I chose Scorpio dominant for the reasons- Dominant Pluto + stellium in an angular house.

I noticed Saturn being dominant in it's own sign in an angular house plus Sun in fall in Libra but chose Sun to be strong as the Ascendant ruler & the fact that the sun makes alot of aspects & is reinforced by the conjunct moon. Saturn will no doubt effect 'Relationships' being tied to the Dsc but the personality formation will come from the personal houses.

Enjoyed reading all the responses.

<...>.
Rather than broad disagreement, I like to think that this may illustrate the contention that there is rarely a single dominant planet or sign in a chart. The members of this forum have contributed to an excellent exploration of the dominant planets and signs in this native's chart and I appreciate each effort. And in our joint effort, it is my belief that we may have provided greater understanding.

Thanks to each one of you.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

When I think of dominant, I look for the planets with strength, which means angular or in a milieu that agrees with them (domicile, exaltation, sign of a great friend, etc.)

Often the ascendant lord is not dominant in that sense, in that it lacks strength, though it will surely be an important part of who the person is.

That's my interpretation of what these questions are asking, anyway.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

Yet another take on it....

Using modern methods, Pluto in Scorpio disposits Mars, Mercury, Venus, Moon, Sun and Jupiter.... so Pluto is very strong in its own sign and in an angular house. Mars in Scorpio at the IC has strength (though I'm not sure Mars is very happy in the fourth house), but Pluto outdoes it. Pluto kind of knocks most of the other planets out of the way.

Saturn in Aquarius @ Descendant is also quite strong, in its ancient sign and angular. Saturn is in mutual reception with Neptune and disposits Uranus.

I wouldn't think that Venus in the sign of its fall, would be dominant in any way.

Air, water and earth sign planets seem to be fairly well distributed. No fire planets, but the Ascendant and North Node are in fire signs, so there is a dose of fiery energy through those portals. Considerable fixed energy, which relates back to the strength of Pluto in Scorpio and Saturn in Aquarius.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

We look at the chart differently and I think that's a strength, particularly since it seems that we understand each other's views so well. Ultimately, I think questions about strongest planet, signs, aspects, houses and so on are most meaningful when we're trying to figure out something specific like an inquiry about going to university, changing careers or dealing with problems at work. In such circumstances, some planets and houses will obviously be more important than others.

One of the things I really like about Cascada's chart is that it's a great example of the tensions at work in a bowl pattern. Tensions often create anxiety. Noel Tyl points out that anxiety is a product of originality, that the more resources, options and decisions someone has, the greater their anxiety. And so anxiety should always be understood as oriented toward freedom--that it's the fuel to get to freedom. I like that positive spin!

I like it, too. Thanks for sharing that viewpoint.

Me too.

Ann, I notice you've used Noel Tyl concepts in other posts. I love some of his stuff. His approach is smart and original. I don't recall that he spends much time finding 'dominant planets' aside from the Ascendant ruler... but it has been awhile since I've read any of his books.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

Thanks everyone for your input. I know that on astro.com it says my dominants are Libra/Scorpio/Virgo and Venus/Sun/Saturn but not all of them feel right. I think Pluto and Saturn could be right though. I know Mercury is the most aspected, and it is also in an angular house, and I feel Mercury does influence me the most out of the planets, along with the Sun. Sun is my ascendant ruler. Mars and Pluto are also in angular houses and both are in their own sign (if you include Mars as one of Scorpio's rulers). And Saturn is also in its own sign in an angular house. So.. I don't really know which one to pick lol. I would say Libra and Scorpio are my dominant signs because that feels right for me, so could that give more power to Venus? I guess it could, and Venus ruling my MC could contribute to it, but I'm unsure.

Re: What are my dominant planets/signs?

Well, it's often easier to feel the influences of the "personal" planets because they're closer to us and they move much more quickly. The outer planets move so very slowly that we often feel their influences only gradually or even in hindsight. For me, it's enormously helpful just to focus on which planets and houses may be involved by a transit or a solar arc contact. If I'm really perplexed about why something is happening, why I feel blocked or why I'm struggling so hard, I look to the outer planets and the network of rulerships they're part of.
