Medical Astrology Astrological diagnoses and other health issues are discussed here. Given that there are so many outer and inner influences on one's health (alimentation, sports, medication, past medical antecedents, state of mind, etc.), an astrological diagnosis is only one of many things to consider when determining your healthiness.

Scorpio Water-Pig - Replenishing Jing

Hi all,
I was wondering if there were any Chinese Medicine specialists on these boards who could give advice to a November-born Water Pig on the best way to replenish or stabilise Jing... particularly in relation to herbs, supplements and lifestyle alterations? I'd ideally like to conserve Jing without completely adopting a monk-like lifestyle. Naturally I know the basics: eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise and abstain from excessive sexual activity. However, any specifics anyone can provide would be very welcome. Links to websites specialising in such information would be particularly of use or, if any such people frequent these boards, expert opinions on how one should go about stabilising this source of natural energy.

I'd be willing to adopt a very contemplative, internalised lifestyle for the medium term, assuming I'd see benefits down the road, but am not willing to whole-hog [pardon the lunar-sign pun!] and abtain from all of life's pleasures. Rather, a middle-of-the-road, reasonable approach, but especially one factoring any supplements or exercise alterations necessary, as I can easily work these into my daily health regime.

Many thanks for your attention and input.

Well, taking a monistic lifestyle isn't really necessary for replenishing jing, and really isn't recommended in Taoism. Meditations and qigong exercises are really the best bet. The more chi you cultivate the more it becomes jing. I can't really get into specifics at the moment, but you should check out the Marrow Washing Classic.

I'd very much appreciate it if you COULD get into specifics, whenever you can find the time. I think it would be most helpful if you could condense what you know, and in a manner relevant to my query, here on the boards, so that others, who aren't necessarily bound by the same problem, might stumble across it, and thus benefit from it. I have no doubt many, if not hundreds, would be humongously grateful of this trove of ancient knowledge.

For further detail, I specified the WATER element of my lunar sign here as I believe it rules [among others] the kidneys, which, if I'm not mistaken, are the primary source of Jing [the 'fires' of the kidneys frequently being referenced in Taoist literature]. I suppose, bringing my argument full-circle [full-circle... Scorpio, the number zero... Scorpio's lunar equivalent being the Pig... whoaaa...] I'm asking about Jing because I 'rule' its primary source, or measuring point... heheh.

Much appreciation for your recommendation of the Marrow Washing Classic.

Re: Scorpio Water-Pig - Replenishing Jing

Are your kidneys generally weak? I'm a bit curious about your concern. I think you may be right about them being the seat of jing, I know that people who are oversexed generally have very weak kidneys, so there might be something to that, though it is all a part of the water system, so it would be all interconnected anyway.

If you feel your jing is weak due to oversexualization, do Deer Exercises.

If you feel it's weak because of a bad diet, make sure to abstain from rich and greasy foods and eat against the season. It's spring in the Northern Hemisphere, so cut back on soups and hot drinks and focus on eating more vegetables. If you're in the Southern Hemisphere, flip that.

If you feel it's weak because of bad chi flow, then do qigong work like the Marrow Washing Classic or Eight Little Treaures or some other type of internal exercise.

Re: Scorpio Water-Pig - Replenishing Jing

I think my kidneys are reasonably healthy... that is to say I haven't noted any major complaints from them. I'm always careful to drink plenty of water so I'm sure this mitigates any negative effects of being 'oversexed' as you say. Although, in fairness, for the past 6 months or so, I have kept sexual activity to a very minimal level [speaking of intervals of weeks...].

I'm more concerned with hair loss, which is apparently an indicator of being oversexed. That is to say that DHT [dihydro-testosterone] a hormone released post-orgasm, in the male, contributes to the shrinking of hair follicles and thus the shedding of hair. It is the leading contributor to male pattern baldness. It seems that many Taoist websites indicate that these follicles do not 'die' per se, but rather remain dormant, under the scalp. I'd be interested to know if, by adopting a reasonably healthy, sexually-sparse, or very regulated, lifestyle, if I could coax these follicles into producing hair again. There are scattered accounts of people succeeding at this, although I'm unsure if they're conjecture, lies to corroborate hair-brained [pardon the pun...] theories, or genuine results.

In any case, any details, or ideas that could be provided from the perspective of Eastern Lunar Astrology, especially pertaining to the sign of the Pig/Boar, would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Scorpio Water-Pig - Replenishing Jing

I can attest to the IMMENSE benefit of the Deer Exercise, or, as I have found better results, simply rubbing one's stomach from the navel to just above the base of the groin, a good 100 times or so a day, ideally while very relaxed. The gains in stamina, overall health and other, more private, benefits are easy to recognise after only a week or so. Ironically, I have noticed it cuts down on the size of one's belly, as well, with a minimum of actual exercise... aids digestion, healthy processing of foods and reduces bloating. I'm sure this technique would work on women as well.

Just happy to share that useful fact.

Awesome! Glad the deer exercise did you some good! The results are pretty impressive for how easy the actual technique is.

Yeah, I was way past annoyed with general health and stamina until I detected the similarities between the deer exercise and masturbation.
