I have 2 opal stone, fake opal doesn't mean that they look different.
There is very difficult to differentiate, at least it is difficult for a common man like me (who don't have a lot of info regarding gem)

here, mostly gemologist also sales there gems, if I took my stone to them mostly says that it is fake, buy it from me

from cloudy u mean scratches?? but opal is soft stone so scratches is common in this stone, even a good quality opal can have scratches from time to time.

In Summary: Buy from somebody who has gemmological qualifications and offers a 'certificate of authenticity' with their opals. Reputable dealers are accountable to their gemmological associations and may also be members of a jeweller's or opal association.
