Learning event astrology: first meeting chart

Hello. I'm somewhat new to event astrology, so I figured I'd look at a certain event chart, a first--pardon, first in a very long time--meeting between a friend and me, a lady, moreover, with whom I hoped (and perhaps still do hope) to kindle a romance. So here's the chart. I know that house rulerships and dispositors are very important in this, and I'm a little concerned about chart-ruler and 7th-house ruler in the 8th, both squaring Neptune. Also, the very placement of Mercury at 29 Gem 59' seems somewhat important to me, particularly considering its aspects and the fact that it is in domicile.

At the same time, however, that close Jupiter-PoF conjunction in Taurus in the 7th looks promising.

But, I'm not certain. I would, however, like to use this as a learning experience, so would anyone care to opine?

Re: Learning event astrology: first meeting chart

Im trying to learn about event astrology too and it is more interesting looking at charts than reading a book. IMO.

looking at the chart I wonder if the significance of this meeting relates to some previous event or meeting. it is just the south node is on the sun in the 9thH. North node in 3rd

I wonder whether the two planets in 8th makes it a kind of 'fateful' meeting.
however theyare not conjunct.

It would be interesting if you can say how the meeting came about ie who approached who and who arranged it.

hopefully someone else will chip in with some more useful info. the skyscript website does look at event astrology. Generally they dont take into account the outer planets but I do when looking at the theme of the event. I think it is quite useful.

Re: Learning event astrology: first meeting chart

I was the arranger and she was the responder. And indeed, this was the first meeting in over ten years. Something about it did have the fingerprint of fate all over it, moreover...

From what I understand, though, first-house ruler signifies the querent (myself) and, considering a romantic overtone, seventh-house ruler signifies my respondent, while the Moon signifies the action itself. So I notice immediately that both Mars (her) and the Moon are in detriment. Though I understand that only classical-planet rulerships are to be used in such charts, outer planets and asteroids can be used to fill out the interpretation--and all of these planets contact Neptune (according to Astrodienst's questionably wide orbs, at least), giving a dreamlike quality to this meeting. It's a square, though, to Venus and Mars, meaning perhaps we're not seeing this quite clearly. Moreover, if we dare to bring fixed stars into this, Mars hovers over Algol, the star of "losing one's head," figuratively speaking. The Moon is in contact with quite a bit, for instance, squaring an exalted Saturn in the twelfth but trining Jupiter and opposing Mercury. I'm not quite sure how to fill that out. As the Moon is in detriment, does this square from exalted Saturn in sect constitute a grave affliction?

Anyhow, there's quite a bit that goes into this apparently. Thank you Caro. Anyone else have some trails you want to send me down here?

Re: Learning event astrology: first meeting chart

OK, looking at this a little more closely, let me specify how I'm looking at this a little. It's a little odd that Venus should represent a male here and Mars a female, but they are the rulers of the 1st and 7th. Let me know if I should alter that so Venus rules the young woman and Mars represents the young man.

But anyway, Mars is in detriment in Taurus, and thus ruled by Venus in the 8th house. Venus, ruling that 8th house, is also there, signifying two things--first, that they are together, and second, that she is in his domain. Moreover, Mars is void of course, so she remains somewhat passive throughout the meeting.

Venus is disposed of by domiciled Gemini Mercury in the ninth. I presume that that would mean that the man, very quick with his wit and dominating the conversation, veered it into more philosophical matters and such. Note, though, that Mercury is but arcseconds away from the cusp of Cancer, and will likely move into that sign over the course of the meeting. Perhaps this means that he will start to speak more emotionally as the meeting progresses?

As for setting, one would think that, seeing the 1st and 7th rulers (which just happen to be Venus and Mars) in the 8th, a sexual tryst would be indicated. This was not the case, but I understand that Cancer, being the 10th-house cusp, would indicate the setting. That seems to indicate something private. Am I correct in looking at the 10th, or should I be looking at the 4th?

In any case, though, Cancer seems somewhat important here, particularly as Venus's dispositor Mercury will be moving into Cancer over the course of this meeting, and thus its dispositor will become the Moon, in detriment in Capricorn. I further understand the Moon to indicate the action of the meeting. Now, the Moon is applying two significant aspects here: an applying square to its dispositor Saturn in Libra in the 12th and an applying quincunx to the man's marker, Venus. Moreover, Venus, Saturn's dispositor, is applying a trine to Saturn.

So, this leads me to think that Saturn's influence in this chart is important, particularly as Saturn is in the sign of its exaltation and the house of its joy and rules one of the angles (IC). I wonder if this means, particularly as Saturn is in the 12th, that its censoring influence is powerful, that certain secrets (12th) which were to be expressed here simply could not be revealed due to a sort of muting effect on Venus. The quincunx between Venus and the Moon might seem to pan this out as well: deeper feelings (perhaps very deep with Pluto sitting right there!) here just cannot quite penetrate through Gemini's spacey wall of words.

So, is this what we're looking at? A love affair not brought out to fruition due to the Venus person's internal conflicts? Again, I'm just a learner and not quite sure. I just thought I'd put the fruits of my reasoning out there for your learned analysis.
