Perhaps a better idea if you do your own thread, post your chart and ask questions. We are all visual people and need to see charts
Sounds llike either Mars or pluto are conjunct your IC or even MC and these two points connnect to parents, espec in early childhood. Moving house a lot can be seen with moon in 4th/conj IC or if moving countries, moon in 9th house.

Re: Home roots IC
hi astrologer50, well my 4h has no planets, mars is in my 12h ,pluto in my 5h conj moon. on the MC i have the north node. you see i had my natal chart done by a great astrologer when i was 14 years old, most of what she said was true except 4 the family part but i was way too young to start asking questions. I will tell you that i have saturn in the first house conjunct my AC ,that kind of explains my childhood-so ive read. and the north node has to do with the career so i was told. anyway i just had to bring this up cause im not so sure the 4h shows the whole picture. thanks

I hear you...
And despite playing with the other angles for such a long time to figure this out...Placidus is the only main system which puts Virgo on my 4th...and I definitely grew up in a Virgo-style home. Everything had a place...everything...not a spoon or a piece of paper could be left around...things had to be moved and organized. My mother has always been very proud of her house and part of that was structure, organization, cleanliness and tidiness. My oldest sister has Sun trine Uranus exactly and a variety of Uranus and Mercury placements - she left that home early!! Those two did NOT mix...I've Sun trine Saturn exactly natally and have been the longest stayer at home - I won't budge until I've finished the educational base I want and need.

Re: Home roots IC
Hmm so how do we picture the home of a person with a cusp on one sign and IC in the next. Picking any two signs for an example, Taurus 4th, Gemini IC. Could it be that the childhood home was a place was a place of comforts (dependent upon 4th ruler, which here is Venus) where good food, good music and nice objects set the scene...with a Gemini IC...would that mean that the house or the parent represented might have been a busy place of comings and goings, with new faces and varied conversation (again, ruler is important)...
Actually...I wonder...I may have a theory at hand...so Virgo is my 4th ruler and in Equal my IC is in Libra. My theory is...I've lived in 2 houses with my parents...the first one represented by Virgo and the second by Libra? I don't know how the previous house could have been more Virgo-ish but the second house is definitely larger, more beautiful, peaceful...and that would correspond with Libra...just maybe...(if I haven't missed anything).

Eyvallah, Eureka
IC is IC and will always be THE most important, but another cusp is bit like having a second IC if you like.
To describe my own IC, gemini - I was brought up in a small hotel, so my lounge was always full of strangers, where we/I only had to deal with people on a superficial level (which suits gemini down to a tee), lots and lots of comings and goings. Communications short, chatty, lots of different topics, people all the time. Now Taurus rules my 4th house cusp and venus is posited in 4th. So yes, it was very comfortable, ahead of its time. We had the first colour TV (my word yes I remember this) all luxury items. Pleasant, sociable. My venus in 4th always wants luxury, the best money can buy. I like entertaining and feeding people, because that is how I was brought up

Re: Home roots IC
Yes that IC, Venus and 4th cusp definitely fits that description well. And what an interesting start - and such mixed and varied company. Sounds kind of like a typical Hollywood actress' child growing up a little in the lights, seeing everyone busy as a bee around them!

Re: Home roots IC
i have sun and jupiter conjunct IC in Gemini, also with moon, chiron, and venus in the fourth house, all conjunct each other. I had a wonderful childhood, i guess you can say a lil spoiled. A nice loving home with caring parents. A HUGE family that still has a strong bond. I definitely feel the love from all my cousins, uncles, aunts, etc.
Its great to have a good base if all fails, family will always be there, but theres drawbacks having sun conjunct IC. I find it very difficult finding a job that suits me. I'm always changing careers and because of that money went down the drain when i left school.
Im also a really shy person. I dont like meeting new people. I like everything that's familiar that i already know is safe. I love being home and taking long walks by myself.

Re: Home roots IC
What a great thread! I think they should have more information on the IC in astrology. It seems as though the IC and descendant angles rarely get as much attention
I have IC in taurus conjunct my moon.
I have a very strong attatchment to my mother and put a high value on being emotionally secure.

Yes, in both Equal house and whole sign, the IC can float through the 3rd, 4th or 5th houses; in cases where the IC is not in the 4th house, the house in which the IC is posited must due "double duty" (as Valens said): the IC always indicates certain things (foundations in essence), and the 4th house always represents these same things-however, if the IC is in the 3rd house, then that house will indicate IC matters IN ADDITION TO typical 3rd house matters; if the IC is in the 5th house, that that house will indicate IC matters IN ADDICTION TO typical 5th house matters.
So, say the IC is in the 3rd house or in the 5th house, then you have indications of 4th house matters by the 4th house PLUS additional information about IC/4th house matters, from the IC position in the 3rd (or the 5th) house as well.
Same pertains to the MC and the 10th house (in Equal house or whole sign); it floats among the 9th, 10th, 11th houses (sometimes in extreme latitudes even into the 12th house, using Equal house or whole sign, as in the case of Lenin's natal horoscope) Whatever house (if other than the 10th) the MC is in, must do "double duty" (Valens), ie, to represent its own matters AND to provide additional information about the MC as well.

Re: Home roots IC
I know this theory but I would look to 4th/10th cusp rulers as additional secondary weaker MC/IC that reflect matters. I don't hold much sway with bringing in 8,9,11th houses matters where MC falls as having 'that' much signficance....

So do I!!! My IC in taurus is conjunct my Aries moon. I agree with the above, although I'm starting to get "fed up" with the attachment. My moon is tightly opposed Saturn, and Saturn is conjunct the MC.
In that opposition, the Moon has won out all these years of my life (I'm 28 now), and I think Saturn is going to gain the upper hand this upcoming year. So I'm predicting that my job and the "call of duty" will take over, and I'll have to separate myself from my mother for a long while. And frankly, it's time Saturn got its due treatment (with my Saturn return scheduled for Oct. 2012).

Re: Home roots IC
I have Sagittarius on the IC with with a moon conjunct to it.
My moms is sagittarius and she likes to travel so ive been able to travel too.
Other than that, I think maybe this placement makes me independent and makes me have a need for freedom?

Yes, it may.
A further clue to how your IC in Sagi is expressed by you is to check out its ruler - Jupiter - and see where it is - sign, house, significant aspects - on your chart. Freedom/travel is definitely a feature, but then so is country/rural living, and a deep spiritual philosophy.

Re: Home roots IC
Hmm I didn't see many Virgo ICs!
I've IC Virgo, and I've Cancer rising with Moon in Virgo....
In Equal/whole signs, my IC is at the end of my 3rd house, and quandrants; Libra is intercepted in my 4th so Mercury and Venus rule 4th.
IC Virgo shows a serious, dutiful mom who took pride at home. With Virgo there, everything had a place, and order and cleanliness etc. was the 'order of the day'.
For quadrant systems, it shows both my 4th rulers in the 9th. I had one major house move with family; the second house is well-represented by Venus in the 9th ruling intercepted Libra; the house was much bigger and beautiful. A brilliant astrologer who has not frequented here in a long time said my IC ruler Mercury conjunct my Pisces MC from the 9th showed me moving in with my marriage partner near the time of completion of construction of a large new house by the sea.
Having lived in different countries I've noticed I like to set up home wherever I go and I make them clean and tidy but beautiful and calming. I like friends to come over often and adore that aspect of hospitality at mine. I'm actually not that domestic though... I see it as a place to recuperate and relax - before bursting back out into the world again. I don't care much for homely pursuits; cooking, decorating etc.
I adore the idea of working hard enough in my life to buy as large a house as possible. I adore the kind of beauty found in old English homes (Victorian, Georgian etc.) but I'm very open to foreign styles. Even with a very well-placed 2nd ruler and 6th, I don't expect to be able to afford anything like that! But if it's within my capacity of earning........
I have Mercury tightly conjunct my Pisces MC so it directly opposes my Virgo IC and I've no idea what that means. That leaves Uranus (8th ruler in 6th) squaring my IC tightly too. I don't see how that fits into my family home though, no frequent changes etc.

Re: Home roots IC
This is the kind of thread I always look for! I really envy so many of you; those that have a big family, lots of coming and going, talking, etc......
Astrologer50: I promise I will post my chart ASAP. I just got an old retarded laptop that kind of has a mind of its own. Its embarrising to mention what I was using to post with before. Anyway I have a stellium of planets in the 4th hse ALL conj. the IC. in Aquarius; equal hse 14deg Aqua and Placidius 21degs Aqua. My Sun is 0degs Pis, Merc 14Aqua, Mars 29degs Aqua and Sat 26Aqua. All is square my moon and opp my MC. Merc is square my Asc (14degs Scorp) and Merc also squares Nep (17degs Scorp). My childhood was sh**. I left home at 141/2. Since then I have constantly strived for peace and security in my home life and mainly it has alluded me. I persevere.
God is good and I have learned that attitude is 99% of really how to define happiness and it took me way too long to learn that. My attitude is better therefore I am better. I believe in the power if prayer so if there are anybody out there that prays then please put in a good word for me will ya?
Happy Turkey Day Yall!

My home life is pretty stable for the most part, and I feel comfortable where I'm living right now (in the same old town of Malverne, NY that I've been living in for the past 27 years haha). Although, I've had plenty of thoughts about moving out of the country.
I tried moving out of state, but that never worked out. The first time was for my first year in college. I moved back home within 3 weeks because I was homesick. The second time I moved was just last year...I went to Los Angeles to pursue my doctorate, but I moved back home after 5 months for different reasons: my school wasn't giving me enough financial aid to live out there, and I just couldn't stand the way the professors taught out there. So basically, it seems like that whenever I try to move, something always comes up to bring me back home to my birth place. That's probably the 3rd/9th House polarity that I have going on.
As of right now, I'm doing a distance learning program to get my Master's degree in teaching. So far, it's working out quite well. The latest thought that entered my mind was moving to England and actually teaching there in 2 or 3 years. If I do decide to do that, I'm hoping that nothing will interfere. With my previous two moves, I didn't have an established career with a salary lined up, so maybe that will provide enough incentive and reason for me to stay put in a foreign country? (besides the fact that I'll have about $50,000 in student loans that I may have trouble paying back here in the States!).
Any thoughts about this??
