can one's power of mind overrule what lies in destiny as predicted by astrology?
Can astrology predict everything what lies in future? Is it atleast 80% true? I get mixed reactions from friends and colleagues..they cite me real-time examples where whatever astrology had predicted, turned out to be opposite..am confused of what should be believed and what not.
can one's power of mind overrule what lies in destiny as predicted by astrology?
please enlighten me on this subject...

Re: can one's power of mind overrule what lies in destiny as predicted by astrology?
I don't think astrology can predict everything. I think that it is more useful to discover tendencies about yourself and others, but I don't think that it dictates exactly what will happen in your life. For example, if someone has a Moon in Cancer, then they probably have the tendency to be a very warm and caring person and highly imaginative as well. If someone has a Venus in Aries, then it is probably that they have a hard time being tied down in relationships. But none of these positions are absolute.
Even if you see someone's whole chart and you break the chart down, it does not mean that the person will be exactly the way the chart indicates. If you go to the Celebrity Astrology thread, there is currently a debate about Lady Gaga's Ascendant. One would think that considering her overexposure in the media, astrologers would be able to come to a consensus, but her rising sign is as elusive as any stranger's. I think you are in control of you own destiny. Your fate is what you believe it should be.
Most people are not interested in astrology and they have no knowledge whatsoever of what their charts say. Most people only know their sun sign, and they don't even really know the characteristics of their sun sign too well. My friend knew he was a Taurus, but he had to ask me what Tauruses are like.
Furthermore, I believe that being "astrologically enlightened" can actually hinder you in a way - for example: Most astrologers agree that to be famous, you need to have planets/good aspects in your Midheaven. Suppose you wanted to be a famous actress, but you saw on your chart that you had no planets inside your MC and that no planets were well aspected, or aspected at all, with your MC. If you are a strong believer in astrology, you might actually feel less inclined to reach your goals. You might feel like you're incapable of ever becoming a famous actress. If you convince yourself of this fact too often, you may start believing it, and then you will never reach your goal. In this case, I think that astrology can be a self-fulfilling prophecy to a certain extent.
But there are always exceptions to rules in astrology, as there are in any field of science. Miracles happen in the medical field every day. A man cracked half his skull while high jumping and had practically no chance of survival, yet he did survive and is living a healthy life now. A 3 year old girl had her throat slit and was stuck in a field for 36 hrs and she survived. A woman "willed" her cancer away by the power of prayer and thought. There are always exceptions to rules in any science, including astrology. Madonna is a Virgo rising, placing her MC in Gemini and she has absolutely no planets inside her MC. In fact, many planets square her MC. Neither does Barack Obama with his Scorpio MC - he has no planets in the 10th house.
I do believe that the power of the mind is the strongest power a person has. It can defy all odds and all predispositions. You can overcome bad or lacking aspects on your chart. I know I have, it just takes some practice and willpower. I have a very overpowering Venus in Scorpio, and it was hard for me to reach the stage where I was relaxed and comfortable in relationships, but I did eventually get there. I learned to not throw all my eggs in one basket and fall head over heels immediately. I learned to be calm and patient about love.
So, I don't think you should use astrology as an absolute. Just because your chart indicates something doesn't mean that it will necessarily 100% be true. Some people will disagree with me as they believe that astrology is an absolute science, but this is just my opinion.

I sincerely believe (based on experience) that the power of knowledge combined with Will and insight, can modify, and in certain cases even totally overcome, the trends and tendencies indicated in a person's horoscope (or personal event chart or decumbiture or horary chart if it involves the person)
Regarding mundane matters, this is much more of a question: here I believe that the trends shown in the mundane chart are very difficult to modify except perhaps by the concerted effort of adepts, which, unfortunately, rarely happens...

Ah... the destiny vs fate question. I'm bored and feel of sufficient age to comment. Or soliloquy. Hehe. Unfortunately for some, astrology can predict exact. But as I have counselled its how one views a situation that determines outcome....for the enlightened. Or the introspective person. Even then events can be predicted.

Re: can one's power of mind overrule what lies in destiny as predicted by astrology?
roshni, your question is an astrological quandary that astrologers and their critics have debated since ancient times. No resolution in sight!
A popular astrological saying is that "The stars impel but they do not compel."
We can't overlook the influences of one's culture. I think many people do not express everything they have within them to be, do, and have, as per their horoscopes, due to societal conditioning. For example, in a very repressive traditional society, children would be trained to fit in with what the rulers demanded. Uranian children might feel really out of place, but I don't think they would express their true nature very well.
Also, astrology--like many professions--is better in the hands of talented, experienced practitioners than in the hands of a so-so- astrologer. For example, if you had a rare illness, would you want your family doctor to treat it or would you want a specialist? So the odds of an astro-prediction being correct depend upon who makes the prediction.
I think the best use of astrology is to seek out empowering interpretations of your horoscope, and then to act on them.
