Singleton?
I am having a difficulty understanding this.Would like some help.
How does it affect you?
I've read it's pretty important or something like that.
Is the importance of signleton just the planet containing it or is it the sign that is a singleton just as important as the planet?
I have Saturn in Aquarius singleton in 2nd house.

Re: Singleton?
Wow, you really do have a singleton.
Saturn rules your 1st and 2nd Houses. It's in rulership and square Pluto also in rulership in your 10th House.
One way this might manifest itself is an obsession for money and material things (2nd House) that affect you (1st House) and your status (10th House). The reason is emotional (in)security. But Pluto being as strong as it is can also motivate you to be successful. In fact, I think you need that because you have Mercury, Venus and Mars combust, so even though Mars is conjunct your Ascendant and co-ruling your 10th House with Pluto, it isn't operating very powerfully, so you need that energy from Saturn square Pluto to give you some drive.

Re: Singleton?
That is quite a chart Saturnian, I can't quite believe it. Anything near like that chart that I've seen stuns me...and p.s. you're name struck me because I've a heavy dose of Him the chart too...
This thread made me look into this more, and I've discovered some 'singleton' issues I hoped to talk about, and thought it might be a waste to start a new thread, might as well get it all in here.
I think my Mars is a singleton because he's the only planet in the Air quality. He disposes the Sun and Jupiter and does their bidding, so I'm curious. While air is missing, mutability is overwhelming....
Plus, my Moon? Only planet in houses 1-4, and she does the ascendant's bidding...and she has difficult relations with the others. However, I don't see how she can be the chart ruler with the Sun towering above, dignified, well-aspected, angular etc.
Anyone any insight? Nothing I'm finding in research is coming up as useful and can't integrate the questions or points I've made...

Re: Singleton?
byjove - I think the lack of air in your chart is more than compensated for by the predominance of mutability therein. The Moon is, as you say, your ascendant ruler and therefore the ruler of the chart. She is involved in two T-squares, though not as the "focal" planet, which also grants her some strength of influence so yes, there is a certain concentration on the Moon in your chart.
I believe the Sun is not as strong as you might think. It is in an angular house, yes, but Mercury is actually closer to the MC, therefore is the most elevated planet. The Sun is in Aries, which is his dignity (but I'm not sure I buy into all that gubbins anyway), but forms fewer major aspects than your Moon.
Mars is alone in an air sign but again, I don't know that I'd necessarily buy into the idea that this makes it particularly influential, particularly as there is so much mutability here to balance things out. What is perhaps more interesting is the solitary position of Pluto in a fixed sign.

Re: Singleton?
Hi Inconjunct,
I think you've demonstrated well the differing opinions on a number things...which confuses me, and I suppose will benefit from further knowledge...
e.g. Mercury as most elevated. I've had 50% positive feedback, and 50% negative. Some pretty much describe him as a healing salve; able to heal the lunar troubles, and learn, persevere and communicate with the world via the strong AC trine. Thus they consider the angle as beneficial. But the other half describe a planet in essential debility conjunct an angle as a thief given upgraded weapons; a serious criminal. So I at least thought of him as not the strongest...(though I'm far more known for the positive traits he brings).
Is the ruler of the chart always the AC ruler? At least half of the people here alone don't seem to think so...and I'm keen to learn from more experienced astrologers on here so I just don't know!
The Sun also has the tightest aspect in the chart 0.01 degrees, and in the house of the casted planet; Saturn. I could be wrong, but I think sect is less important than dignity, no? Either way; essential dignity, elevated and angular, in sect, benefits from helpful aspects...also ruler of 2nd, (by sign) joined by the ruler of the 6th. Surely Jupiter, Moon or Mercury can't beat that?
Pluto. Yes, but generational no? Not that personalized...and I thought the Sun-Saturn trine adds strong fixed element?
And yes, Mars in air sign joined by multiple mutable planets.
(ponders a poll, but resists based on the ridiculous proposition...)

No, the Moon is in the 3rd House, so Mars is not a Singleton.

Re: Singleton?
byjove - my personal opinion here is that Mercury being in its debility is of less importance than its angularity and the fact that it, too, like the Moon, forms two T-squares (though again not as the focal planet).
It makes sense to me that the ruler of the ASC would have a special influence in a chart, hence the term chart ruler, but I don't think this means it necessarily dominates the other planets - that doesn't fit my personal view of how planetary energies operate.
As you say, Pluto by sign has a generational rather than a personal influence, unless it's angular or in some other way emphasised. This to me further emphasises the lack of fixity in your chart.

Re: Singleton?
Bob - good to know Bob! One less thing to think about!
Inconjunct - Whoops...looking at that I think what I said appears argumentative...that's definitely not my intention! I truly respect, and am grateful for other opinions!
I guess I'm just trying to qualify (I just need to be sure, you know?) I'd to look into that debilitated-but-accidentally-dignified-planet up for further analysis...I need to know my chart! But I'll take that investigation out of the singleton area to preserve it's integrity...

Re: Singleton?
Yes it definitely did, thanks! I'm still intrigued by your chart though!! Honestly, now I'm of course amateur and untrained but of all the charts of I've seen, your's is definitely a different chart!
I want to know more! All that Saturn! I want to see how it's affected your appearance, and how you interact ... not like a lab experiment, and whichever planet it happened to be, it's just Saturn in this case. It's just such a heavy heavy dose of one planet...I'm intrigued.
And as for the body, people always comment I've great legs and then I thought about it - Sun (strong, energy) casting (exact) to Saturn and Uranus (thighs and legs) thus muscles and strength etc...how about you?
And to keep some of this on topic...well I've learned more about singletons, yes. And I forgot about Pluto being a loner lol.

For appearance you can look at a pic I've posted here to see what people have to say about which sign I look like.If you look at my threads you'll find it.
As for body, since I can't provide a pic for the time being I'll just describe.Average to small height(5'2/1,58),average weight I think(108p/49 kg).Body,I'd describe it as hourglass figure.I have a fairly large chest, not too big though,I don't know about legs,I've gotten nice comments when I've wore a skirt(very rare) and I think my body is quite proportionate.

Whenever you see 1 or no planets in an element, you immediately look to the houses. The houses correspond to the elements in the order of Fire, Earth, Air and Water.
Someone might not have any planets in Water Signs, but they might have any number of planets in the 4th, 8th or 12th Houses which correspond to Water. So they are emotional/sensitive, but they express it differently.
In this instance we have 1 planet in Air (Saturn) and there are no planets in the 3rd, 7th or 11th Houses which correspond with Air.
If there were, then Saturn would not be a Singleton. That is the situation for you: Mars is the only Air planet, but the Moon is in an house that corresponds to Air (the 3rd).
If you had no planets in Air, but the Moon in the 3rd House, then that will show you how you express your intellect (and of course you'd look at aspects to the Moon etc).

Re: Singleton?
I actually have no idea how combust planets would affect appearance. And so much of the energy occurs in the first house so it relates directly to the body/personal appearance.
Tremendous Capricorn energy - that's the knees isn't it?

Oh well,I have no Fire in my chart but my planets all gather in the 1st house which belongs to Aries.Does the house's element have any affect to the planets or how you express yourself?

Absolutely, but I think we're all confused on the terminology here, especially me. Your Saturn is not Singleton in the true sense, rather it is a Standout. A true Singleton is the planet in (I think) a Bucket Pattern. Saturn is a Standout because it's the only planet in an Air Sign or Air House. Another Standout would be an unaspected planet in the chart. They all operate similarly in that they're going to demand attention and be more or less the focus of the chart.
But as far as the houses, people who don't have planets in an element but have planets in houses that represent elements tend to internalize instead of externalize or express things non-verbally instead of verbally. Maybe someone with no Fire isn't out shaking hands with people (something you can see) but they are working the telephones night and day (something you can't see). Maybe someone has no Water and they seem cold and emotionless, but the have planets in the Houses of Endings and maybe the ruler of the 5th House is in one of those Houses of Endings so they express their emotion through writing or music or art or sports or whatever.
In your case with the Saturn square Pluto, you can use that energy positively and go places, or you can use it to own everything, while having nothing.
True, you have a lot of planets Combust, but they are accidentally dignified in the 1st House (and Mars is Exalted) and all sextile Jupiter which is conjunct the MC (Jupiter on any angle is always good).
With the Moon (ruling your 7th), Jupiter and Pluto in the 10th and the Sun, Mars and Uranus in the 1st, if you don't become rich and/or famous, it's because you didn't put forth any effort.

So these planets do have to do with wealth and fame and it's more likely to happen if I follow my goals according to this.
I don't know if this is off topic but I feel like saying it.A friend of mine does Tarot readings and has done for me as well and usually the cards show lots of money, always. It's not like I am even chasing such a thing. But of course maybe subconsciously I want it and because of it I will achieve it?At the moment the family I belong to could be labeled as "poor-to- average" I think so probably the money appearing in the cards are in the future.Don't know if this has anything to do but felt like mentioning. It's weird cause I want a simple life, not a lot of luxury so it's weird but then again i've thought that if I were to win or gain a lot of money I'd donate it/give it to those in need so...I am kinda confused.

We often find Uranus as a singleton in the charts of highly charismatic personalities. As we go through the examples of famous people, we see a kind of “brightness” or “radiance” about Uranians. There is a quality about them that makes others “sit up and take notice.” Along with charisma is a trickster quality. These people tend to do and say the unexpected; they are surprising and sometimes astonishing. Sometimes they even trick themselves. The Uranian energy pulls the rug out from under all the other planets in the chart. This is especially true when the singleton Uranus is aspected by a personal planet.
http://www.astrologyclub.org/article...nus/uranus.htm
it's kinda scary that it's in my 2nd house. but i don't really know what to make of it.

Bleh, you lucky...having Uranus singleton.Wish i had an imprtant planet too other than that Saturn.I do feel that it restricts me quite a lot.It *****.
Uranus indicates someone of high intelligence(natural ability) and I think a magnetic person, not so much as attractive cause that's venus for but mostly magnetic as in interesting.Others feel it I'd say. That's my thought on a prominent Uranus person.
