Question Picking a wedding date for 2011 or 2013

I have calculated using numerology that either 2011 or 2013 are auspicious for a wedding for us, but what is the case with astrology? How about suggestions for dates in June, July, August? What should I look for in the charts or in transitions that is important to picking a date? I know that inf it's New Moon it's best...

Thanks in advance!

The best way to pick a date is to use an astrology software program that allows you to advance the date and time.

When you pick a date and time things that are bad are:

1) Ascendant Via Combusta
2) Moon Via Combusta
3) Moon and any other planet Void of Course
4) Afflicted Rulers of the Ascendant, 5th (Joy) and 11th (Wishes) Houses.
5) Certain squares, Sun square Uranus, Mars square Uranus, Mars/Uranus square Pluto (I know it sounds silly but Uranus will move into Aries shortly and start approaching a square to Pluto).

Re: Picking a wedding date for 2011 or 2013

Bob, by searching for info on event astrology (I never did an event but am asked to do one now or rather, a date was given and I have to see if that date and the hour are auspicious. They are not as far as I can see. Mutable angles, Asc.ruler strong in own sign in the 10th BUT combust, ingoing trine Saturn retro in the 2nd house.
Then I have Venus in Gemini, also not super and Uranus in 7, horrible, especially with that opposition to SAturn. Now my question to you. You said "certain squares" are bad, mentioning modern Planets as well. Do you then look at ingoing squares or just square aspects like in natal astrology? And do you then take into account those modern planets as well? I thought that event was also, like horary astrology, dating from the 17 hundreds and these planets not used. I personally do use them as indicators of upheaval, unexpected change etc. but not as houserulers. What do you do? Thanks in advance.

Ah also, the Moon at 21°Libra, practically VOID but conjunct Spica. How do I interprete the influence of Spica here?

I'd shy away from that. For a marriage or business, you'd want fixed signs on the angles, a sense of permanency rather than something temporary or limited in time, which is what cardinal and mutable points suggest.

For other things, you might want mutable signs, if for no other reason than the rulers that are involved (Mercury, Jupiter, the Sun, Venus) tend to be benefic or benign.

Any planet combust is stripped of its power. Uranus combust might be a good thing, but having the Ascendant Ruler combust, no, I'd find another date or time.

For any aspect, the first thing I look at is mutual reception. Think of it as Mars wants to give his energy and the Sun says, "I got places to go and things to do. Gimme a boost of energy."

That's a happy aspect. If not in MR, then you look to the planet that is stronger (it is dignified, exalted, in fall, in a weak house or whatever), because the energy is flowing from that planet to the weaker planet, which can be good or bad.

And then you need to look at house and direction. Sun square Uranus can be good, but not when Uranus is weak in a cadent house and/or retrograde, and if the Sun is weak then that's even worse. Think of it as the Sun is weak and needs to get rid of its excess energy, it throws it at Uranus who is weak and can't handle the energy and dumps it right back on the Sun plus the energy from Uranus, weakening the Sun even further.

See, that's why Sun in 12th square Uranus in 9th (and retrograde) can be very bad sometimes (but not all the time).

I'm still learning Fixed Stars, so I'm not sure of the implication. However, the Moon or any planet Void of Course is based on Ptolemaic aspects to other planets and not to chart points (like the Ascendant, MC, Vertex, PoF, Nodes, Fixed Stars or other Celestial Bodies).

So a Void of Course Moon conjunct Spica is still Void of Course.

Re: Picking a wedding date for 2011 or 2013

Bob, thanks for your reply. You know, with this date they gave me, whatever I do, it is bad. Changing the angles to fixed, maybe a bit better. I will discuss it with the mother of the bride (who is a very wellknown cardreader (and more) here and I do believe she also smells a rat but wants confirmation from me). See what she says and if she, at all, can make her daughter change the date.

Thanks again. You mentioning the MR in combination with squares is something I had overlooked. You refreshed my mind
