Looking for some help on a case study for college

I'm writing a case study for a college project, the topic for mine is generally space. I chose this topic because I'm a fan of Carl Sagan and since I own his "Cosmos" DVDs I've been watching a couple and taking notes before I get started..

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some facts about basically any of the planets, galaxies or anything to generally do with the universe.. Here's what I've picked up so far from Cosmos + some internet searching

Quote:
The universe is 13.7 billion years old
The universe is at least 150 billion trillion miles across
There are an estimated 150 billion galaxies in our universe
The universe consists of 74% dark matter, 22% dark energy, and only 4% baryonic matter (atoms)
Matter didn't exist until the universe was 380,000 years old
Stars and galaxies started to form when the universe was 1 billion years old
Estimated 200 billion stars in our galaxy (the Milky Way)

Our Sun is a star at the centre of our Solar System and is 1.4 million km in diameter.
Our sun is 4.66 billion years old
Our sun will end it's main sequence of life in 5 billion years

Our earth is 3.5 billion years old
All life on earth will end in 2 billion years

The galaxy "NGC 7331" is known as the Milky Way's twin
The galaxy "NGC 7331" is similar size and structure to the Milky Way

Comets are small bodies that are made of dust and ice which heat up on approach to the Sun and expel long tails.

Mars is red because its surface is covered in Iron Oxide dust.
Mars is 249 million km from the sun

Venus's surface pressure is 90 times that of the Earth's sea level
Venus's surface temperature is about 456 degrees celsius
Venus's day is longer than its year. It orbits the Sun every 225 days but takes 243 days to rotate on its axis.
Venus is almost same size and mass as the Earth
Venus is 109 million km from the Sun
Venus is often refered to as the most hell-like planet due to its extreme heat and pressure.
Sorry if this is the wrong board, wasn't really sure where to post it or if you even have a place to allow this

This case study is worth a big chunk of my grade and I have a few months to complete it, so I'm taking a lot of notes before starting :P

Re: Looking for some help on a case study for college

yes you need to research 'astronomy' sites not astrology sites, cos we don't particularly care about planets size, distance etc it's more important the effect psychologically they have in our lives.....

Good luck on your journey
