I will go to Greenhorn from now on...

Hi Mellow, as you can see, I moved your thread to this GLounge. Personally I just look at both charts separately and do not draw a synastry chart. It is not clear enough for me that way. If you interprete each chart separately you will very soon see if things could work together or not.
Start with the Ascendants and see if they are in compatible signs
Then the Sun, for the way you guys tend to express your ego's
Then the Moon, see if they are in compatible signs. Very important if not THE most important planet in synastry. Moon shows where we feel at ease and safe. If one Moon in in Aries, the other in Pisces, then just expect problems. One wants to hit the town to feel good, the other wants to go and sit in a bubble bath with candles all around. OK, in the beginning they will go along with each others desires, but after a long time, they will give up, it does not feel good for either of them.
Even in the best of synastries, even where people get married, sooner or later there comes a rift because of incompatible Moons.
Look at both the Mercuries. This shows how each one of you communicates. A square between two Mercuries does not have to be problematic, it can show great interaction, lots of fiery, uplifting, mindboggling and mind stimulating discussions.
Then the Venusses (each others love expression and how they are able to receive love)
and the Mars positions, showing how your (sexual) drive will express itself.
Also quite informative is where the planets are situated, above or below the horizon (Ascendant-Descendant axis).
If one has everything above, the other most planets below, you get also two very different type of people, one very much public orientated, the other prefers the private side of life, is more introvert maybe, more subjective then the other. This is good to notice and to understand one another's needs.
After all that, you then look at the aspects especially between the personal planets. If two planets are compatible but in a difficult aspect with one another, like an opposition, then it just needs balancing out of the needs of each planet. It is easier to solve these sort of oppositions, then your own oppositions in your own natal chart.
Squares between planets can point to difficulties, but also to great energy flow between them. Look how each one is aspected in the separare charts in order to see how those planets will tend to perform. If your mars is well aspected but squares her Mars which is also OK aspected in her chart, then it will show good, stimulating interaction. If both Marses are critically aspected in the individual charts, expect problems.

a pop up box with the interpretation......

in astrodienst is all fine and dandy, but take care. These interpretations give some but certainly not all information you need. It is impossible for those programms to cover everything so do enjoy, but dont take it as a definite "truth".
