Question Just getting started

Hey everyone

First thread on here.

Ive had myself a natal chart for a while now and ive finally got round to comparing mine to someone elses. But im at a pondary as to what certain sentences mean in descriptions of conjuctions, semi sextiles etc.

For instance: A conjuction is when 2 planets are situated closley together, generally within an orb of 8 degrees.

My guess was: You look at say your sun (sun is in 26 degrees aries) then look at the other persons sun and if its 18-34 degrees then theres a conjunction. Assuming that the 8 degree orb is a way of saying 8 degrees lee way either way.

IS THIS COMPLETLEY WRONG OR AM I HALF WAY THERE OR WHAT

PLEASE HELP

Thanks

Sam

PS: I reckon if a conjuction is explained ill get the rest

Yes, that's right, as long as both Suns are in Aries ().

Rightly,

Tim

Re: Just getting started

Your theory is correct for natal charts but not for synastry, the max orb allowed is 3'

When looking at a woman’s chart the type of man she would look for is her sun sign and mars traits, plus 7th house planets and house cusp ruler and where that ruler was deposited.
When looking at a mans chart for the type of woman he would look for is his venus and moon sign and then 7th house planets and house cusp ruler and where that ruler was deposited.

Although synastry is a valuable tool with astrology it cannot 'make things happen' even if you have the best synastry in the world unfortunately..

Re: Just getting started

O one other major thing ive been dying to ask

I know you have your main compatabilities like a sun in aries with a sun in leo etc.

But as regards moon and ascendant signs (in general) i heard something along the lines of: if your sun is the same as there moon thats good and if your sun is the same as their rising thats good as well.

Are these true

Cheers

Sam

I understand that this is your interpretation of synastry orbs. However, I suggest being careful careful about listing any "allowed" orbs. Orbs are one of the most hotly debated subjects in astrology. So some people will use 8 degree orbs in synastry, others will use a 3 degree orb...and others something completely different!

Differently,

Tim

I actually use a very wide orb for synastry. I believe that certain aspects, like conjunctions and oppositions work even with 7 0r 8 degree orbs if major planets are involved. If someone has their saturn on your sun, or their pluto opposed your moon, it can be felt and recognized even if it is wide, imo. Although I DO look at the most exact aspects first, and give them more weight.
