Is this a method used?

Let's say someone draws a horary chart based on a love question. I've heard that after analyzing the chart itself, it's good to do a synastry between the horary chart and your natal.
Is this something you should do? I remember faintly hearing about it somewhere.

well, I suppose that one is just looking at the transits during the time of the question then.
So if the horary had a Moon square Saturn, you could get a look see where that Saturn lies in the chart.

I don't think I've ever heard of that. Horary is completely and totally separate from natal astrology. It's like comparing a Volkswagen Beetle to a motorhome. Synastry has nothing to do with it!

I agree with you that , in 'theory' ,they have nothing to do with each other. The charts are to be read entirely differently with completely different rules and techniques.

HOWEVER, [ here comes my: in ]

The reality is that a querent asks the question and the chart given is ALSO the chart of their transits at the time they are asking. It is hard for me to ignore that .

If you think about it, the person will be having those transits regardless of whether a horary question is asked or not, and certain transits of course will 'show up' in a chart because transits cause certain foci to come into play...so, when Venus is transiting over someone's ascendant they are more likely to be thinking about love, so the chances of having Venus on the ascendant of a horary chart is reasonably higher. However, I would leave it at that. Lilly often did people's nativities before or after a horary, but it wasn't linked directly to a question, more as a general overview. I wouldn't get too hung up on it.
